"Fiona Sutton, you're here early."
Nia Mitchell smiled and handed Fiona a cup of watermelon juice, her favorite, but Fiona didn't take it.
"I'm on my period. I can't drink anything cold."
She didn't even glance at Nia Mitchell as she spoke.
Nia Mitchell sat there awkwardly, unsure whether to keep holding the watermelon juice or put it down. They had such a good relationship; how could she not know Fiona's menstrual cycle? Fiona's period should have just ended recently.
"Then I'll go get you a hot drink."
As Nia Mitchell said this, she stood up, ready to go out.
"No need."
Fiona Sutton stopped her, looking quite upset.
"I can't afford your drink."
Now, even their classmates could sense the tension between them.
Julia Adams, sitting not far away, suddenly laughed.
"How rare! You two are actually arguing. This is truly the best graduation gift for me."
Julia Adams's face was wreathed in smiles as she happily took a sip of her drink.
"None of your damn business!"
