Maxwell Peary didn't even spare Sophia Moore a glance and turned to look at Nia Mitchell standing next to him.
"You weren't scared, were you?" he asked, his expression serious, as if it were perfectly natural for him to say such a thing.
"No." Nia Mitchell shook her head. With Maxwell beside her, there was no way she could be bullied. So, when Sophia Moore had lunged at her, she hadn't even tried to resist. The feeling of being protected by someone was truly heartwarming.
"Let's go."
He took Nia's hand and opened the passenger door.
Nia nodded and got in, smiling.
Sophia Moore stretched out her arm to prevent Maxwell from closing the door, her eyes bloodshot with anger.
"Maxwell, isn't this going too far? What on earth do you see in this little tramp, Nia?"
