Chapter 6: Confrontation
The next day was a rather normal day. It could not have been more like a regular school day at a non-hero school. They had their homeroom of course, but other than that they still had English with Present Mic, history with Midnight, and ectoplasm even taught the math class. Ok getting teased by your aunt, who not only happens to be your teacher but also the one and only R-Rated hero is far from normal.
"AH! You wouldn't believe how excited I was to hear I would still be teaching your history class!" the hero practically screamed as she ran up to smother Izuku in a hug. The rest of the class was stuck in shock, wondering what the hell was happening.
"I'm glad to see you too Auntie, but could we catch up in the teachers lounge and not in front of the class?" he said with a small chuckle. This was not the first time she had hugged him in her hero costume so he was somewhat used to it, but he could only imagine the reactions to this.
"Auntie?!" the whole class roared. Most of the class looked at them in astonishment, though he did think he felt daggers in his back for a second.
"What the fuck De- Nerd! Why didn't I know about this?!" a certain blonde yelled in his own characteristic manner.
"Oh? And why would he need to tell you, Bakugo-kun?" Said boy nearly visibly flinched when he saw the venom pouring out of her eyes directed at the boy, "And what were you about to call my nephew?"
It was at this point Katsuki was reminded why he did his best to stay away from the Midoriya women. They were about the only thing in the world that actually scared him. "N-nothing..." From his own perspective, his mom was like a dog that was all bark and no bite. The women in the Midoriya family, they were like lionesses and more than willing to act.
"Really? Hmm… Let's say that I believe you. That said, I don't want to hear insults thrown around in my class." She paused to look at the rest of the class, her cheerful appearance almost returning in full. "I don't want to hear them from any of you towards any of you. This isn't about Izuku, this is about respect. The respect each of you should hold for everyone, especially when our job is one of service."
At this point Iida raised his hand, "Mrs. Midnight!"
"You can call me Mrs. Kayama in class Iida-kun."
"Thank you. What exactly do you mean by "our job is a service job?""
"Great question!" she responded, gaining a bit of her trademark sultry gaze, "How many of you have been to a pool with a lifeguard?" The majority of the class raised their hands, "Ok, and a lifeguard job is considered a part of the service industry correct?" they all nodded, "What is fundamentally different from our job as heroes and theirs as lifeguards?"
She paused to let the class think, some seemed to have something they wanted to say only to seemingly shoot it down before speaking. "They don't have to fight?" Jiro, the purplette with the ear jacks uncertainly answered.
"You're not entirely wrong," the teacher answered respectfully, "not all of them have too and they definitely aren't trained to do so, not usually anyways. But you'd be surprised. Either way the area you will eventually patrol is like the pool you're lifeguarding. It is your responsibility to keep people safe in your zone and to help them in general. Sometimes it's as simple as helping them up and others it's life saving. Not to mention we both need licenses but that's beside the point."
Then she finally walked to the front of the class, "The point is that even if you don't like someone, you should still respect them. Especially in a public setting and especially when you don't like them. Everything you do in the public eye will be scrutinized, and the higher in rank you get," she glanced at a certain blonde to make sure he was listening, "the more scrutiny you will be under."
And with everyone's rapt attention she began her history lecture, likely losing a few as soon as they had realized it was simple history and not something like Hero history. Others were lost as soon as they realized she began lecturing, leading to the day once again feeling like a normal school day rather than a day at a heroics school. That is until the final class of the day.
"Oooh I can't wait to find out who our heroics teacher is!!" Mina whined.
"Well, we're about to find out." Izuku chimed in, hearing heavy footsteps approach the door. "And I think I know who it is." he mumbled, somewhat recognizing them.
"I AM… COMING THROUGH THE DOOR LIKE A NORMAL PERSON!" All Might yelled as he entered the door, he was wearing his silver age costume which avid fans (Izuku and Katsuki) noticed immediately.
The class became a wild room full of amazement at the fact that the number one hero was going to teach them. Katsuki had a wild smirk on his face, excited to see first hand what the man could do, as well as wondering what the man could teach him on his path to number 1. Izuku, on the other hand, was torn. Sure the man used to be his idol, and he was excited to see what he could learn from the man, but how could he forget the man who attempted to crush his dream. That said, the large man had offered a challenge. One that he planned to overcome.
"YES I AM HERE TO TEACH YOUR HEROICS CLASS!!" All Might yelled in his normal fashion. "AND TODAY WE WILL START YOUR TRAINING WITH A BATTLE TRIAL TO GAGE HOW WELL YOU CAN USE YOUR QUIRKS IN STRESSFUL SITUATIONS! BUT!" He paused to grab a remote from a pocket, "WHAT IS A HERO WITHOUT THEIR COSTUME!"
As he said this a bunch of shelves popped out from the walls with briefcases numbered from 1 to 20. "THESE CONTAIN YOUR COSTUMES, GRAB THE CASE WITH THE SAME NUMBER AS THE ONE ON YOUR DESK AND GO CHANGE! ONCE YOUR DONE MEET ME AT GROUND BETA!"
With that the class scrambled to grab their respective costumes and head to the locker rooms. About 10 minutes later everyone was walking into ground beta wearing their hero costumes. Taking a second to look at their costumes All Might gave them time to do the same. He wanted to make sure that they were helpful and not something that could end up causing more problems. There were 2 that worried him a smidge and he might have to talk to Powerloader about changing their costumes. There were others that brought up questions, but as things stood they didn't need changes.
The three that caught his eyes were Yaoyorozu Momo, Bakugo Katsuki, and Midoriya Izuku. Young Yaoyorozu was simply due to how much skin she was showing. It was his understanding that she was kind of in a similar predicament to Midnight, though it was definitely better than Midnight's first costume, but still this was rather revealing.
Young Bakugo was more a question of why. He had these large grenade themed gauntlets, he worried that it could get in the way of the boy due to their size. Something else that worried him was the possibility that they could be used as weapons, which could end badly. Young Midoriya, recognized as the boy who had helped him with the sludge villain, was the remaining interest. He understood that the boy had no quirk and thus didn't have anything to build into in regards to his costume, but his choices did confuse him a little. The boy had seemed to take an approach similar to the man who used to be his sidekick, Sir Nighteye. The boy wore a white button up, the sleeves of which he had rolled up to his elbows, a light green tie and a vest of a solid viridian green. He also wore green pants that matched the vest. The near constant side eye from Katsuki did not go unnoticed by said boy.
"ALRIGHT YOUNG HEROES!" All Might boomed, "TODAY WE WILL BE DEALING WITH YOUR ABILITIES TO FIGHT IN CLOSE SPACES. THERE WILL BE TWO TEAMS, A VILLAIN TEAM AND A HERO TEAM. HERE ARE THE WIN CONDITIONS. THERE WILL BE A FAKE BOMB ON THE PREMISES WHICH THE VILLAINS WILL BE PROTECTING. THE BOMB WILL GO OFF AFTER 10 MINUTES, AT WHICH POINT THE VILLAINS WIN. THE HEROES CAN DEACTIVATE THE BOMB AND THEREFORE WIN BY SIMPLY TOUCHING IT. HOWEVER BOTH TEAMS HAVE A CHANCE TO WIN BY INCAPACITATING THE OTHER TEAM BY WRAPPING CAPTURE TAPE ON THEM."
All Might brought out 2 boxes from who knows where and placed them in front of him. "THIS IS HOW WE WILL DECIDE WHO IS ON WHAT TEAM! YOU EACH WILL GRAB A BALL, THE BALL WILL HAVE A LETTER ON IT. WHOEVER SHARES THE LETTER WILL BE YOUR TEAMMATE. FROM THERE WE WILL DECIDE WHICH TEAMS WILL FACE EACH OTHER." Once the man said this everyone started grabbing a ball each.
"All Might-sensei" rang the blue haired boy's voice, the class turned to look at him when he spoke. Izuku was vaguely reminded of the Hero Ingenium when he saw him. "Why are our teams random? Is that really the best way to go about this?"
"Well you wont always be teaming up with heroes of the same agency," Izuku began, quickly gaining the attention now, "Most of the time when heroes team up you can't choose the agency you work with either so it would be akin to drawing lots based on the agencies in the area of the team up."
"A-ah, my mistake. Thank you Midoriya-kun." The engine boy replied, seemingly embarrassed that he hadn't come to that conclusion. Izuku only nodded in approval.
Izuku found out he was teamed up with the blonde girl. Apparently her name was Melissa Shield, much to his surprise. He didn't exactly think about support gear all too often, but when he did the company her (likely) father ran was one of the first to come to mind. Next, the fights were picked and much to Izuku's disdain, and Katsuki's by the look of it, it was Shield and Izuku vs Kat and the blue haired boy whose name was Iida Tenya. Naturally they were the first match too. Both teams went to the designated building, the hero team was told to wait outside for five minutes while the Villains got their plan together. Bakugo and Iida went inside the building to place the bomb while the hero team waited.
"If you don't mind, is your quirk just a strength enhancer?" Izuku asked his partner.
"Y-yes." she answered shyly, though he could tell she was lying, "Though I can't use too much of it."
"Hmm? How so?"
"Well, you see if I enhance myself too much, my body can't handle it." She paused, "For example I broke my arm the first time I used it since I couldn't really control it."
"Yikes, but it sounds like you're getting used to it?" She nodded as he paused, realizing something. "You're a late bloomer aren't you?"
"W-what? H-how do you come to that conclusion?!" she asked, clearly not prepared for it.
"The way you talk about it." he responded, "You still talk about it like it's new to you. But the nail in the coffin was that your body isn't used to it, despite being our age. If you grew up with a strength enhancer, theoretically you should be able to withstand the upper limits of the enhancement that your quirk can produce."
"He-he you caught me." she chuckled despondently as she looked down.
"AH! S-sorry I didn't mean to make it sound like a bad thing! I'm well aware of how being quirkless can affect someone."
"N-no it's fine!" she said waving her hands, "Though if you don't mind I'd like to keep that fact between us. I was lucky enough to grow up on I-Island, where what matters is your smarts and not your quirk. Though being the daughter of David Shield probably helped as well… But I've heard plenty about how the quirkless can be treated outside of the island."
Izuku chuckled a little, "I'm not sure how bad you've heard it is, but it can be pretty bad. Don't worry I'll keep it between us, besides I think the class is gonna be more focused on me than you in that regard."
"Hmm? How so?" she asked.
"Despite my performance yesterday, I'm quirkless."
"Y-You're kidding right?" she asked shocked, "I mean you slung that ball so far, you have to have like a strength enhancer or something right?"
"Oooh 290!" Izuku immediately stopped, realizing what he did and shook his head. "Sorry it's a habit of mine, I like to play a little guessing game with what my supposed quirk could be. But we can continue that later, as for dealing with Kat and Iida-kun… Do you think you can handle Iida-kun?"
"I should be able to keep up with his speed."
"Good cause Kat's most likely going to just gun it for me."
"What do you mean? Why would he do that?"
"Ooooh you could say me and the pomeranian have a bit of a history." Izuku answered.
"And what's that supposed to mean?"
"I mean that we've known each other since we were kids but he seems to think that he's better than me in every way… well I suppose he isn't wrong in regards to quirks." He finished with a chuckle.
Shield couldn't help but chuckle too, it wasn't very often she found someone who could target a joke at themselves anymore, much less someone who could joke about being quirkless.
Then All Might came ringing over the intercom.
With that Izuku and Shield charged into the building, looking for the bomb. Izuku was also using Observation Haki to attempt to find his opponents, he could feel both opponents' presence. From what he could tell Katsuki was on the 3rd floor heading down, while Iida was on the fourth floor, "Shield-san go to the fourth floor, Katsuki is rushing down here, and Iida's on the fourth floor probably guarding the bomb." Shield nodded in surprise, but quickly regained composure and started heading up the building.
Just as she split off, a rather bombastic blonde came screaming past her (literally). The boy ignored the girl completely, just like Izuku had predicted. "Keep going Shield-san!" he yelled as Bakugo stopped in his tracks to stand in front of the boy.
"Just because you somehow managed to cheat your way into UA doesn't mean you can stop me, Deku!"
"I'm only going to say this once, Katsuki." the greenette responded, his eyes gaining a red glint, for some reason giving the explosive boy chills, "Walk away. While you still can."
"Oh Deku," He paused, letting the excess sweat on his palms crackle into small explosions in an attempt to intimidate Deku, "Just cause you can hurl a ball that far doesn't mean you're strong enough to stop me."
The blonde rushed at the mosshead, throwing his signature right hook, which Izuku dodged easily, not even needing the Haki he used. Katsuki, enraged by this, began to throw every punch imaginable, occasionally throwing one with an open palm to explode on Izuku. Izuku of course managed to dodge all of these. Eventually decided he had his fun and to end the tirade.
Katsuki threw a haymaker with his left. Izuku caught it, then spun inwards to elbow Katsuki in the gut and throw him over his shoulder. Katsuki took a moment to regain himself, sitting up on his knee and looking at Izuku in complete shock.
"What did you do?...
I'm the strongest….
I've always been the strongest, had the best quirk. What did you do!?" Katsuki yelled out.
"I got stronger." he replied calmly, unable to hide the satisfaction, "Didn't you?"
"No, but I guess it's good I have this then."
Bakugo stood up and began to raise his arm, "If the designers made this to the specs I wanted, then these gauntlets should have been catching my excess sweat this whole time." Izuku and All Might's eyes widened at this. "That means that I can release a bigger explosion than normal with this!" He reached for the pin as he said this.
All Might was going to tell Bakugo to stop, but then something caught his ear.
"Atta-boy Kat." Izuku said while gaining a smirk. Izuku began to bring his arms up and coat as much of his body as he could in armament Haki. Haki is only as strong as your will, so coating himself entirely wasn't a problem strength-wise. However, controlling it was another story. He was used to coating his arms and sometimes legs. Coating his entire body on a whim could pose a problem.
Then Katsuki pulled the pin.
Suddenly the entire hallway was nothing but light and smoke, and the whole building shook. Once the initial flash dissipated, Katsuki turned away, about to make his way towards his teammate until something caught his eye.
The smoke was beginning to clear, and with that the light from the windows, or rather the large window Katsuki had renovated in, was beginning to poke through. Leaving the shadow of one Midoriya Izuku present. Judging by his outline he had to be hurting, it looked as though most of his upper body was revealed due to the explosion. But that's not what startled Katsuki.
He was moving.
The next thing Katsuki knew, he had a fist rapidly approaching his face. On pure instinct alone Katsuki dodged it, the punch just barely grazing his chin. The quick dodge was what Izuku wanted. Now off balance, Katsuki stumbled backwards, making it near impossible to dodge the incoming kick to his side. The kick made contact with startling strength, throwing Katsuki into the wall and almost knocking him out.
In the moment Katsuki was dazed from the impact, Izuku managed to just barely tie the capture tape around his leg, making Katsuki 'incapacitated' for the fight. Once done tying, Izuku rushed down the hallway to catch up to his partner.
"HEROES WIN!!" the building suddenly rang out in All Might's signature voice.
With that Izuku stopped and turned to go get Katsuki. When he got back he found the boy standing by leaning on the wall. He held a hand out to help Katsuki, who promptly slapped it away.
Once the 4 walked through the door, the class looked at them, mostly Izuku, in awe. A few of the girls were trying their best to hide the blood from seeing his still uncovered upper body. They may not have been able to hear what was said, but what they saw was more than enough. The boy with spiky red hair, Kirishima if memory served from yesterday, was about to say something until All Might broke the silence first. "SO WHO DO YOU THINK WAS THE MVP OF THE MATCH?"
"I'd say it was between Iida-san and Midoriya-san," Piped up the tall girl with raven hair. Evidently her name was Yaoyorozu Momo. "Iida-san was able to fit into his role the best, while his teammate left him alone, seemingly without a plan other than to take out Midoriya-san. Even if he may have over played the role and his failure may in part be blamed upon it."
Katsuki, who was still reeling from his defeat, winced at this. He's supposed to be the strongest, supposed to be the one on top, and yet how he acted definitely said otherwise. Even if he had beaten Deku, he would have lost the match given how Turbo was at least fended off long enough to get the bomb as soon as his fight with Deku ended.
Yaoyorozu continued, not noticing this, "Midoriya-kun on the other hand seemed to take this into account and, even if it was reckless, he was at least able to stall Bakugo long enough for Shield-san to capture the bomb regardless of the outcome of his fight. That said, relying on unknown strength to win by herself rather than aid him in his predicted one on one could have played out terribly for the Hero team as well."
"THOSE ARE BOTH VERY GOOD POINTS! DOES ANYONE ELSE HAVE ANY THOUGHTS?" All Might paused to look around the room, the rest of the students were either quiet or shaking their heads. Meanwhile he was doing his best not to sweat at the fact that she went into more depth than he would have thought of. "IN THAT CASE I WOULD HAVE TO AGREE WITH YOU! WHILE I THINK THAT BEING ABLE TO FIT INTO YOUR ROLE IS IMPORTANT I BELIEVE YOUNG MIDORIYA IS THE MVP DUE TO HIS WELL DEVELOPED STRATEGY FOR THE SITUATION AND HIS ABILITY TO HOLD OUT FOR HIS TEAMMATE!"
He paused to look at each student individually, "I DO WANT TO EMPHASIZE THAT A BAIT STRATEGY SHOULD NORMALLY BE A LAST RESORT. THEY OFTEN FAIL AND DO NOT END WELL FOR THE BAIT! WHICH IS WHY I WOULD LIKE TO TALK TO YOU AFTER CLASS, YOUNG MIDORIYA."
Each of them nodded in acknowledgement. The next groups went down to their building to start their trial, the other one was kinda destroyed thanks to Bakugo. Surprisingly, Izuku wasn't questioned about a quirk. Then again, he had seen some of the quirks in the apprehension test. He would be lying if he said he wasn't excited to see them himself.
While they waited he went to Shield, "Hey I wanted to thank you for going along with my plan." he said sheepishly.
"No problem!" she responded excitedly, "If I'm honest I would have tried to bring up another plan if we had time, but with you and Bakugo having already known each other or something, it seemed like a good plan."
Izuku nodded sheepishly, scratching the back of his head. Then someone said something about the next trial beginning. Everyone gathered around the monitors to watch.
The trails went on for the rest of the hour. There were only a few that stood out from the rest for Izuku. The main ones being that Kaminari, the blonde with a lightning bolt in his hair, and the Todoroki twins were logia types. Kaminari had pretty poor control over it and, if Izuku was being honest with himself, the lightning user wasn't the brightest.
Shoka, however, was a terrifying beast. She had a very adept control with her ice as well as managing her stamina. Her brother was also a power house. Though he found it odd how the boy seemed to prefer close combat given he had a fire logia quirk, most fire users tend to use their quirk like a flame thrower, but hey to each his own. Izuku couldn't say for sure, but he wondered if there was something else behind it.
Soon all of the trials were finished and they went back to the locker rooms to change and head back to class. All but one that is.
Chapter 7: Presence
Izuku followed All Might to the teacher's lounge. Eventually they took a seat across from each other one on a couch the other on a stool. the two sat in silence, the student waiting to find out what the teacher wanted to talk about and the teacher trying to find the words.
"YOUNG MIDORIYA I-" suddenly the large hero deflated into what closely resembled a walking pile of bones. 'Crap.'
"I take it this is why you wanted to get out of the situation as fast as possible when we first met." The viridian student said with a calmness that shocked the hero.
"Y-yes." He began, "Speaking of our first encounter, I would like to both apologize for what I said and congratulate you for blowing my expectations out of the water."
Izuku chuckled, "It's fine All Might-sensei, I know you were just trying to protect me."
The hero gave the kid a nod in appreciation, he did idly wonder if he was forgiven because of the boy's maturity or because of his status. Then there was that ability of his. He was sure he had seen it before. Why was it so familiar?
"Do you mind if I ask if your current condition is because of an injury?"
The hero lifted the top half of his hero uniform, contrary to popular belief, it was in fact just tight pants and a tight long sleeve shirt. What he showed however was gravely worrying. In his left side there was what might just be the worst scar the boy had ever seen.
"About six years ago this happened, I was fighting a villain and we both got each other pretty good. According to Recovery Girl I'm lucky to have what little of my stomach I still have."
To say Izuku was worried was an understatement. There was a villain that could do this? Not only that but do it to quite possibly the strongest hero to have ever existed?
"That's concerning." Was about all he could get out.
"That's one way to put it." The hero chuckled. He could see the gears turning in the boy's head. He had heard his conversation with his niece, so he knew the boy was sharp, but he doubted he wo-
"Is your quirk able to be passed on?"
The hero proceeded to cough up so much blood that the boy was surprised he stayed conscious.
"H-how did you come to that?!"
"It's just a theory, but Shield-San seems to be close with you, which I suppose wouldn't be surprising to those who know of your time with her father, but it's her quirk. She's obviously not used to it and so little is known about your quirk that for all we know it could change everything we know about them."
All Might was floored. He had come to the correct conclusion in 3 interactions with either him or his niece. He coughed into his fist, "Unfortunately no it cannot be passed on, Young Melissa is simply the first known case of a late bloomer."
Izuku eyed him, clearly not buying it. "Fine." He sighed, "if that's the story you want to go with, I'll go with it."
"Thank you, oh and one more thing before I send you back to class." He paused as he leaned forward, his gaze hardened, "am I right to assume that your technique can be taught since you're quirkless."
"Who do you want me to teach?"
——
The next day was off to an interesting start.
"Are you sure super hearing isn't how you knew where I was?" Uraraka questioned.
Izuku only chuckled, "Pretty sure. If me and Hakagure-San were to fight I would know where she is regardless of how quiet she is or if she took her gloves and shoes off. That said, I do worry about the possibility that it gets strong enough that I can see her too." He said as he shivered, not wanting to think about the possible consequences.
"Wait, how would you be able to see her when your quirk is based on intent?"
"There's a portion of it that's based on presence as well, like how Iida's coming up behind us.
The brunette turned around to see the engine boy speed walking up. Now that she thought about it his footsteps were heavy compared to your average person, but there's not much you can do when there are literal engines in your calves.
"As observant as ever Midoriya-kun!" The boy robotically responded.
"Well it is part of my ability."
"You know the more we talk the more I wond-" the girl was unfortunately cut off by the practically roaring crowd in front of the school's gate.
As the trio tried to make their way through the crowd, now known to be reporters, they were hounded about All Might supposedly teaching there. There were even questions about rumors regarding their other teachers, but one stood out from the rest and immediately caused Izuku to stop in his tracks.
"A few years ago UA supposedly dropped the restrictions on quirkless applicants. Has UA actually followed through with this and allowed quirkless students onto their campus?"
Something about the tone the female reporter used irritated Izuku to no end. He turned to find the reporter in question. He turned to see a blue skinned woman who was slightly shorter than him, her green eyes seemingly glowed due to the black sclera backing them. She had a light purple shade of hair and a curiosity that seemed to spill from her.
"I haven't personally encountered one, but I doubt that they'd advertise it considering how society views quirkless people."
"Care to elaborate?" She asked without hesitation, her curiosity only grew.
"Sure why not." He began, unsure if this was the right decision or not, "quirkism and discrimination are still very prevalent despite any laws trying to dissuade that. Though I have a feeling you're more than aware," he didn't miss the twitch In her eye, "I used to be the target of it too despite now being in the hero course."
"Oh, how so? You aren't a mutant type like myself and you speak very intimately about the quirkless population, but you just claimed to be in the hero course. Was your quirk considered weak?"
Izuku chuckled trying to decide if he should out himself on public news or not, "I suppose you could say it was the weakest."
"How is it supposedly being taught by the number 1 hero despite supposedly being weak."
"Who ever said your quirk had to be strong in order to be strong?" He returned. She was unable to hide her shock at the quick return. Not only had it not answered her question but his own had questioned not only her stance of strength, but the whole of society's stance. Then compounding her mental whiplash he answered her question.
"There's a different weight to him teaching us, but in the end it's the same as the others. He's here to teach us. His experience brings a different view than how, say, Snipe might teach us. But Snipe is also going to teach differently from Ectoplasm. A new teacher brings new views to the same subject, regardless of if he or she is at the top."
The reporter's emerald eyes showed the wheel's turning at his response, trying to figure out how to continue until something clicked, "Since you seem to see him as the same as the already present staff at UA can I assume that you disapprove of All Might?"
The whole crowd seemed to quiet at the question, all seemingly thinking the same thing, 'Does he? And if so why?'
"I have nothing but respect for All Might, but we've become too dependent on him." He finally said what had been on his mind since he met the hero. "I can't really put blame on the heroes or All Might either, I mean what do you expect when someone comes out into the public eye and has what might as well be god-like strength?"
"Would I be correct in assuming that you don't want to take his place then?" a different reporter asked.
"As the symbol of peace or as the number one hero?" he responded, positively stumping him.
"We've spent so much time with All Might as the number one Hero and the symbol of peace that they've become synonymous with each other even though they aren't. I have no desire to be the symbol of peace, not when it's impossible for one person to be there for everyone. That said, if I were to be given a symbol title when I do become a hero, I'll do my best to uphold it. If I agree with the sentiment." he finished as he began to walk away.
"What's a sentiment you would agree with?" A third reporter asked, obviously her audience would eat this up.
"Helping the outcasts, those who slipped through All Might's grasp."
"What do you mean outcasts? We don-" she began only to stop when she saw the boy's eyes.
"We don't have outcasts? Is that what you were going to say?" he said as he turned to face her again, eyes almost glowing toxic. "While I don't necessarily like calling them outcasts, are you sure you want to say they don't exist when heteromorphs, quirkless, people with blood quirks, and others even I don't know about exist?" As the reporter looked down in shame, his eyes became kind, possibly the kindest she had ever seen. "It's okay to be ignorant, it's impossible to know everything. Staying ignorant however, that might just be one of the worst mistakes you can make."
He turned and walked away leaving even Eraserhead in awe as he was about to yank the boy out of the crowd. Though he did have to admit, he handled them surprisingly well for a kid who's never been in an interview. He did worry about the possible repercussions of the boy's statements however.
"See you in class Sensei." He was ripped from his thoughts at this and turned to see the boy smiling at him. He was too tired for this.
"Hurry up and get to class, just because I might be late dealing with this doesn't mean you should be." He replied gruffly.
"Yes sir!" The boy replied as he hurried off to his class.
Once in the classroom he had noticed Katsuki was much more tame than usual. He wondered about the possibility of a punishment from yesterday, though All Might hadn't said anything. In the end he chalked it up to him still being down in the dumps about losing.
Likely because he had left Izuku in the mess of reporters, Iida had refrained from saying anything about Izuku's tardiness. The rest of the class seemed to be using the extra time the reporters were distracting Aizawa-sensei in order to make friends or at least forge connections with other classmates.
"Hey Midobro!"
Izuku chuckled at the nickname and turned to see the resident redhead was the one garnering his attention. "What's up Kirishima?"
The boy chuckled nervously and began to scratch the back of his head, "I was wondering if starting next week you would want to train together? I've been talking to some of our classmates too, but they said that they'd think about it."
"I'd love to. Do you have anything planned right now?"
"If I'm honest right now I was mostly thinking of exercising, possibly weightlifting, and sparring. Other than that maybe some of the exercises we do in our heroics class."
"Ok!" Then he gained a smirk that almost frightened the boy, "just know that if I'm joining, it's not going to be easy."
Before Kirishima's stomach could fall any further, his teacher came through the door.
"ALRIGHT!!!" Everyone jumped as they heard a rare yell from their teacher and rushed to their seats, "6 seconds… not bad. Good work with yesterday's battle trial. Since no one was sent to the nurse, I expect you to already know your evaluations." Everyone nodded, "Good. Next is homeroom business. You have to pick a class president." The class became an uproar, as everyone was excited for one of 2 reasons. Some because it was a normal school activity and the rest because they wanted to be class president.
With everyone wanting to be president Iida brought up an idea. "Everyone, I think it would be best if we voted for the president and vice president positions." Everyone turned to the blue haired boy in confusion, each exclaiming something along the lines of "how are we supposed to vote for people we hardly know?" or "What if people vote for themselves?" To which he responded cleverly,
"If a group of people can trust a person this early, then they should be able to be president. And for voting for themselves, well it won't matter as long as at least a few people don't vote for themselves."
And with that the class came to an agreement of how to do this. They went to ask their teacher who only gave a supportive grunt (how the hell could they already differentiate his grunts?) and began their little election. Once all votes were in, a girl with pink skin, apparently named Ashido Mina, began to tally up the votes.
The tally finished up and showed Izuku as the Class President and Yaoyorozu as the Class VP. Izuku was surprised but in the end felt like he could do it. The ravenette was slightly disappointed, but based on what she had heard and seen from the boy she was fine with the outcome.
With that the bell rang indicating it was lunch time. Once Izuku had grabbed his tray he was waved down by Iida and Uraraka. Izuku went and sat with them. They were having a great chat, Izuku found out that Iida was the younger brother of Ingenium! A hero who had many sidekicks under his wing and they had some of the best communication in the industry. Izuku was going to ask Uraraka a question and then an alarm rang out.
"Security level 3 has been breached! All students evacuate in an orderly fashion."
Next thing they knew the whole cafeteria was chaos.
Izuku and his group were trying to calm everyone down until Uraraka was dragged away by the rushing crowd. As Iida tried to get to Uraraka, something in Izuku clicked into place.
"I said calm DOWN!" he roared as everyone around him felt a shiver and came to a stop, a few even falling down unconscious. This gave Iida a chance to grab Uraraka's hand and become weightless. Originally the boy was shocked, forgetting what her quirk was for a moment, and then used that to get to a sign where everyone could see him. He used his engines to maneuver himself to a spot where everyone could see him. The top of a door frame.
"Everyone! Everything is fine!!" He yelled out, "It's only the press!" He was lucky to see them while he was 'maneuvering' to his current position. Thus allowing the rampaging students to calm down and look out the window to see that it was just as he said. "Please continue evacuating, in a calm and orderly fashion, one befitting of the prestigious UA!"
With that, the whole event changed. Everyone was mostly calm, and Izuku was able to check on Uraraka. Thankfully she and everyone else was fine, and they went back to their classrooms. The class began talking to each other, seeing that Aizawa was nowhere in the room.
Kirishima came up to Izuku, "Hey Midoriya! What did you do? When I heard you yell at everyone I felt a shiver but I also saw some people fall down unconscious."
Izuku looked at him incredulously, "Really? I didn't do anything. Or at least I didn't mean too." Thinking back, there was something different. It wasn't anger, though he did feel plenty of that, but he couldn't put a finger on what it was. While he was thinking about it and chatting with the class, Aizawa came into the classroom. If tired didn't describe him before, it did now.
"Alright class let's get this over with." He said in a gruffer, more tired tone than usual. And with that the day continued. Throughout the classes Izuku tried to figure out what happened. 1 whatever caused the shiver and knockout and 2 how the press even got onto the school grounds. The staff had made it pretty clear that without a UA card proving you were either staff, student, or a registered visitor, the gate would be locked tight.
——
A man sat alone in an apartment, rewatching the interviews of the UA students that had been released today. But one stuck out to him in particular. The boy never gave his name and the reporters never asked for it, but he had dark green hair and four freckles in the shape of a diamond on each cheek.
In it he seemed to disapprove of All Might, the only true hero currently, and yet he still respected him. That was uncommon these days, especially for first year high school students. To dislike someone and yet still respect the same person. Then again he never outright showed any disdain or irritation towards the man, more so towards the position. He made a solid point as to why as well. Who can be the symbol of peace when only All Might seems to have the near godlike strength required?
What was interesting though, was that he seemed to know that there would be a next symbol of peace or rather he was sure that there would be a next one and yet even though it requires that godlike strength according to him, he still wants to go for number one.
There was also the bomb that he dropped when he said that the number one position and the symbol of peace aren't synonymous like they had come to be known for. In all honesty what the boy said grated the man. The only reason he had even watched the interview after that were the boy's eyes. They showed that he wasn't just speaking ideology, he was speaking because of experience.
But he then continued to say that he wanted to catch those who All Might couldn't. That interested him. So in the end, he didn't want to be All Might, but he wanted to help those that the hero missed.
"One day I'll have to test your conviction to see if you're up to snuff." He said as he turned back to the table, putting on a tan cloth to act as a mask, "And if you're not, then I might just have to nip a bud before it can cause damage."
——
In an alleyway a girl with two messy blonde buns had her golden orbs glued to her phone. On it she was checking what the sudden ruckus was about regarding the interviews of some UA students. Eventually she found the one that seemed to cause the uproar. Though that wasn't why she stopped on that one.
She had listened to it. Really listened to it. But what stood out to her wasn't the fact that he wanted to help those like her, or that he had specifically brought up people with blood quirks like her. No, what stood out to her was she couldn't shake the feeling that he was cute.
Now that wasn't uncommon, she found cute things all the time. And oh how she loved to make them cuter with that beautiful, glistening crimson liquid. But for some reason, she didn't want that. Even though she was sure he would be so much cuter while covered in blood, for some reason, he was fine just the way he was.
——
"I used to be the target of it too despite now being in the hero course."
A man with a plague doctor mask was staring intently at the screen. 'Something is off about the way he spoke about that damn sickness.' he thought to himself. 'I doubt he's pure given he's supposedly in the hero course at that damn school, but he still considers himself a part of the 'outcasts' even though he's strong enough to be there.'
He turned to look at the ruby orbs behind him that were glued to the screen, 'I may have to keep an eye on this year's sports festival for once.'
The little girl who the orbs belonged to, was locked onto the screen and could only think about one thing. 'Helping the outcasts, those who slipped through All Might grasp.'
She was young and had been here for nearly as long as she could remember, so she didn't know who All Might was, and she certainly didn't know what an outcast was, but she was also very small. Was she small enough to slip through his grasp?
"Eri."
She could only hope that this boy would be able to help her.
——
A set of beady red eyes were set on the phone in his hand, listening to the interviews. In all honesty the man that the orbs belonged to kinda liked the kid. He openly disapproved of the current reliance on All Might. Something he could definitely agree with. There was also something else. He couldn't place it, but he felt that he could sympathize with the boy. It was like somewhere a mental fog began to thin, just enough for it to slip through.
"Is something the matter, Tomura?"
The sound from a monitor immediately had the man and his bartender's attention. "No sensei."
"Good then we'll continue with the plan to snuff out the Symbol of Peace. We may be able to snuff out his successor too." the voice replied, clearly referencing the boy in the interview.
"You think that he's the one?" the man questioned, both confused and growing disgusted. If he was the successor of All Might, then why could he feel like he could relate? There was something else. His gut was telling him that the boy was telling the truth, he didn't want to be the next Symbol of Peace. He didn't want to be All Might's successor.
He could understand where his sensei was coming from, it would be a great misdirection to claim he isn't before his career even starts then to go back and tell something about safety when he's a full fledged hero. But something about his eyes told a story, one that told the truth. One that despite his age knows what society is really like, and who has already faced it.
"Of course, that oaf could never come up with a plan better than that. Though I have to admit the attempt at misdirection was decently well thought out. Especially with the boy disapproving of the current society so blatantly." He was excited to see how the oaf and his successor would handle what was coming for them.
Chapter 8: The Hatchlings go to the USJ
The next day classes were going as usual. Then they broke out for lunch, and when they returned Aizawa was already in the classroom. This wasn't unusual, but the fact that he was surprisingly awake and standing at the desk was unusual. "This time for heroics, it's gonna be a bit special."
The class was in silence until someone finally asked the question that was on all their minds.
Sero piped up, "What do you mean by special sensei?"
"What I mean, Sero, is that we are going to start preparing you for rescues. So go change into either your gym uniform or your hero costume, your choice, and meet me at the bus. Don't make me wait."
He stopped at the door on his way out of the classroom, "Your costumes may not be prepared for rescue scenarios so think about that when you make your decision."
To say that the students changed quickly was an understatement. Much to the surprise of Aizawa, the first stragglers had reached the bus only a minute or 2 after he did. He told them to go ahead and get on while they waited for the others. All in all, the whole class had arrived only 5-6 minutes after he did, and most were in their hero costumes too. He approved of this decision once they were all on the bus, "I'm glad to see that most of you chose to wear your hero costumes, after all it'll be what you're wearing when you're rescuing people. Keep in mind what I said earlier while you're going through the exercises, what changes you could or maybe should make." With that he sat down, signaled the driver, and took a nap.
"Midoriya-chan," a dark green haired girl said, "I tend to say what's on my mind. kero"
"Okay, what is it, Asui-san?" Izuku responded, the boy was wearing his gym uniform thanks to a certain bombastic teen. He would definitely talk to the support course about finding a stronger material, he also made a mental note to imbue his costume with Haki while he fought.
Maybe if he imbued it enough it could make it permanently imbued? Maybe if he had something more permanent than clothes, then again that was assuming it was possible in the first place.
"Call me Tsu, but it's your quirk." she paused, letting out a small 'kero', "I can't seem to put a finger on it, but whatever it is it's really versatile. Is it perhaps a hardening quirk like Kirishima-chan's? kero."
"Ooh 15." He said, earning a curious look from everyone, "S-sorry I've gotten so used to everyone trying to guess what my quirk could be, that I started keeping count of the times a certain guess had been made."
"I must admit, I've been thinking about it since your final statement after the apprehension tests" the class VP said, raising a finger to her chin in thought, "At first glance, it seems certain it's a strength enhancer like All Might's, but maybe a sensory quirk? I saw that you seemed to be able to predict the attacks Bakugo-kun was throwing at you so maybe a slight foresight, like Sir Nighteye?"
"Hmm… 291, 79 and I think 2. '' he said with a pause, debating on whether or not he should tell his class that it's not a quirk. "I guess if I had to name it I would call it Aura." he said, not missing the looks from Shield and Katsuki, he could have sworn he felt the eyes of his teacher too. Everyone else seemed to miss the 'If I had to I would', how they missed it no one knew.
He was being careful to explain it as if it was a quirk, while making sure he wasn't lying. "Think of it as me being able to sense others will's or intents. I can also cover my body with a coating that is only as strong as my own will. So in a sense, my abilities are both hardening and sensory. I call the hardening part, Armament and the sensory portion, Observation." He was surprised he could get through that without saying it was his quirk or that it wasn't one. it was a quick explanation but it seemed to work. Shield seemed to catch onto what he was doing, while Katsuki seemed to be confused.
"Man, I wish I had a more versatile quirk like yours." Kirishima said as Izuku turned to look at him. "I mean sure we both have Hardening, but that's all I've got. So I'm good in a fight, but not much else."
"First off, I think your quirk is pretty cool. And secondly just because your quirk isn't 'versatile' doesn't mean that it isn't useful." Izuku paused to think. "For example, I imagine your hardening can make it harder for you to move which most would see as a bad thing. Sure in a fight it might not be the best… Unless you wanna make yourself a wall."
He looked back at Kirishima who was practically looking back at him with stars in his eyes. "If you ask me, anyone with a proper Hardening quirk should have a goal of becoming an impenetrable wall that only lets what you want passed you. What I mean is, in a fight you do your best that no strays go to civilians, but in a rescue setting for example, it might allow you to become a support for a fallen building. Of course this is all speculation and it could put you in a precarious situation for getting out, but you know your own quirk better than I would." He finished with a shrug
Aizawa, who had been listening to this, smiled to himself. As much of problem children they had been thus far, he was glad and kind of proud to see them supporting each other and bouncing ideas around. Especially for only knowing each other for about a week. Though you would catch him dead before he ever admitted it.
"Thanks man!" Kirishima cheered, "I think that support idea would require a little less strength thanks to Hardening, but I don't know that it would be enough."
"Then you can definitely try to work towards it." Izuku said with a smile. He could only imagine how tough a guy like Kirishima would be with Haki. He also wondered what would happen if he hit Kirishima with Haki. Would his hardening be countered like how he was able to hit the sludge? Or would it just let him hit Kirishima with a bit more weight?
Speaking of, would he be predisposed to armament Haki if he learned it? From what he could tell, the boy's rocky quirk seemed to work very similarly, with the exception of Haki being more mental than physical of course. But the way the boy used his quirk was not too dissimilar from how Izuku used Haki. They were going to start training together next week so maybe he could work on the guy's confidence. That also meant he could do any testing he wanted to, within reason of course.
Kirishima felt a shiver up his spine. He didn't know what caused it, but it felt like it was telling him he might just end up regretting his decision.
Then the ever so observant Tsuyu piped up again. "Wait you said your quirk was essentially hardening and sensory…kero… Does that mean that your strength isn't enhanced at all? kero."
Everyone took a moment to process what she pointed out and then turned to Izuku to either confirm or deny her suspicions.
"Can't get anything past you, can I Tsu-chan," earning a happy little 'kero' from her, "Your right, what I did was raw strength without a quirk. I suppose it would be fitting to say my armament has a strengthening effect, but from my own experience adding weight and adding strength are different things. Especially for something like the ball throw."
Everyone sat there in awe, even if he had used a sling, the highest known throw without a quirk was 600ish meters. And he blew that out of the water. With a makeshift sling no less!
Aizawa quickly ripped them out of their shock, announcing that they were there. "Welcome to the USJ." He saw Kaminari raise his hand, "And no it does not mean Universal Studios Japan." The boy put his hand down. "We will be having another hero here with us to supervise you." As he said this, someone dressed in what looked like a space suit walked up.
Uraraka squealed in glee, "Oh my god! It's the Space Hero: Thirteen! They are best known for their rescue abilities!"
Thirteen chuckled, "Always nice to meet a fan! Anyways welcome to the 'Unforeseen Simulation Joint' I designed it myself!" they said as they walked the class into the massive building. Izuku couldn't help but notice Aizawa approach Thirteen and say something. All he heard was something about All Might and see Thirteen raise up 3 fingers.
Izuku was thinking about how the man turned into a skeleton with a puff of smoke the other day as he saw Aizawa sigh and turn to the class. He sighed to himself, 'Are we really that reliant on him? It can't be good for either group.'
"Can anyone tell me what 3 types of heroes there are?" Thirteen began.
"Combat, rescue, and support if I'm not mistaken." Yaomomo answered.
"Good." Thirteen continued, "During your battle trial you were assessed for your combat prowess, next you will be assessed for your rescue abilities here." She paused, turning with an outstretched hand towards the interior, "This is the USJ as mentioned earlier, here we can prepare you for a multitude of situations ranging from man-made or even to natural." Izuku was thinking to himself, 'Situations like these will certainly help me with my Observation and intuition.'
"Raise your hand if you have a quirk that can kill." Everyone's blood ran cold, the hero had said it so nonchalantly, even raising their own hand. Some of the class raised their hands, Izuku of course did not, "All of you should be raising your hands. Even something as simple as a weak telekinesis can kill." Everyone but the teachers missed Izuku shiver at that. "Take my own quirk for example." The hero raised their hand in front of them, "Does anyone know what it is?"
"It's called Blackhole." Uraraka said with a somber tone that almost hid her excitement.
"Good, essentially what it does is it allows me to create vacuums from my body. And when something or someone gets too close to the source, it will be disassembled down to the atoms. As you can guess from that, this can easily kill someone, which is why I try to keep out of combat and in rescue situations. Some of you aren't that lucky, for example Bakugo-kun creates explosions. This can kill just as easily, but because of creating shock waves and such, it is more apt for dealing damage rather than cleaning or other rescue tasks."
It was then that Izuku realized he was feeling the presence of more people than just his class and teachers. He started looking around, which did not go unnoticed by some of his peers. Soon Kirishima pointed towards a lobby area and spoke up, "Um Sensei do we have fake villains too?"
Aizawa turned to look where Kirishima indicated. What he saw made his blood run cold.
In the center of the 'lobby' for the USJ was a fountain and next to the fountain was a swirling purple mist with people coming out of it.
"Hmm. Did they change the schedule? All Might was supposed to be here." rang a raspy voice as a man with light blue hair and covered in hands exited the mist, "No matter, I'm sure he'll show up if we take out some of his precious students."
What Aizawa could only assume to be villains continued pouring out of the mist. "Huddle up and don't move! Thirteen protect the students." Aizawa then proceeded to jump down the stairs despite the yelling coming from his students. They could only stand in awe at what happened next.
Their teacher took on the swarms of villains with relative ease, bouncing from villain to villain leaving each unconscious. For some he would simply dodge attacks and let them inadvertently hit each other, for others he would use his quirk essentially stunning them for just long enough to get a good hit in. Then there were the mutants, it seemed like he couldn't properly use his quirk on them. To counter this the man used his capture weapon and close combat in an attempt overwhelm them.
"Class rep!" Thirteen turned to their students.
"Hai!" Izuku yelled.
"Who is the fastest of you?" they asked
"Iida-san, where are you?"
"Right here." the blue haired boy yelled as he ran up to the pair.
"Iida-kun," the space hero began, "I haven't been able to get a call through to the main campus. So I want you to run there and get some help."
"B-but shouldn't I stay here and help?" the engine boy asked.
"Iida-san, use your quirk to save us!" Izuku said. "We'll help you get out of here."
Iida, Izuku, Sato and Shoji dashed for the door, to attempt to pry it open, only to be stopped by a swirling purple and yellow mist. A man seemed to form out of it, only his hands and head seemed to be made of the same mist or rather that was all they saw thanks to his suit and metal collar.
"I must apologize for the intrusion, but I cannot allow you to leave." the mist began, "You see we have a goal that we must accomplish and we wouldn't be able to do that if you could simply leave."
"And who exactly are you and what is your goal?" Izuku questioned.
"Ah yes, I am Kurogiri and we are the League of Villains. And we are here to end the life of the Symbol of Peace."
Everyone's blood ran cold. Kill All Might?
The mist, now known as Kurogiri, took this as their que to continue. "We were under the impression that he would be here, but perhaps the schedule was revised. No ma-"
Kurogiri was cut off by an explosion and a punch to the face.
"Can't end All Might if we end you first!" Kat yelled.
"Betcha didn't see that coming!" Kirishima yelled.
"My my," the mist responded, much to the shock of everyone, "That was rather close. Only more of a reminder that despite just being students, you are supposed to be the best of the best."
"Get back you two!" the space hero yelled. But it was too late, the mist man was surrounding them already. One second Izuku was looking at the mist man in front of his classmates, the next he was falling face first towards a red floor.
'What the?' he thought as he descended. Then a lightbulb turned on, the mist was his warp quirk. Each of the students had probably been teleported elsewhere, but as far as he could tell 'elsewhere' was still within the USJ. He spun over himself and landed on his feet, coating them with Haki in an attempt to cushion the landing. He looked up from the small crater he had made, only to be met with a view of at least 20 villains in front of him.
"Aw only one? And here I was hoping to get a few, or at least a girl!" Izuku already didn't like the man in front.
"You idiot of course he won't be any fun! That's the kid from the interview the other day! He even said his quirk used to be the weakest!" said a man with a rhino quirk a little to the right of the first.
"Still is." the boy muttered to himself as he calmly stood up and walked towards the group. "Oh? Have I garnered fans already?" He knew he had, some people on the internet were even fawning over him based on his minimal time online last night. He stopped about 10 feet in front of them. He didn't know why, especially with the current situation, but he was feeling playful. Like he wanted to toy with them.
"Like we'd be fans of your's, you damn brat!" roared another as he raised his hand. It looked like a staple gun and he began using it to shoot large staples at the boy.
Izuku only leaned this way and that, dodging each and every staple that came his way. Then the volley of staples ended after about 20 seconds of dodging. "That it?" The boy asked, clearly not impressed. As calm as he looked, his mind was running rampant trying to figure out as much as he could about this attack. It was coordinated, and had to be in order to attack UA. But these lackeys were really just that, lackeys, the only thing that actually seemed to be a threat were the mist man and the man covered in hands. Though something in his gut was telling him there was more to it, like he had missed something before being teleported.
He deftly dodged a fist as it ripped him from his thoughts. It might be time to stop playing around even if he wants to keep messing around. He could feel his sensei's presence slowing down, it might be time to get back to the lobby.
As if reading his mind, a layer of ice covered the field dropping the temperature in the area by at least 15 degrees. All of the villains were now glued, or rather frozen, to the ground thanks to the mini ice age that had just occurred.
"Thanks for the assist, Shoka-san."
The girl kept her usual smile as she chuckled and replied softly, "We both know you didn't need it. You know playing with prey is not very hero-like."
"Neither is referring to them as prey." he retorted, giving her a smile of his own, "That said, what do you say about getting some answers?" he asked as he slammed his now blackened fists together.
The girl gave a slight nod as she turned to the villains, "I would hate to give you frostbite as the ice slowly kills off the cells in your body from the shear cold, but I may just have to let it happen if you don't answer my questions."
___
Melissa was preparing to slam into the water surface, when suddenly she felt something wrap around her torso. She looked down to see it was a tongue, a moment after she found herself on a small boat with Tsu and Kaminari, the boy's bright yellow hair being the first thing she saw.
Melissa took a moment to shake off the feeling of being grabbed by a tongue, then "Thank you Tsu, I saw a couple of villains in the water."
"No problem, kero, I saw them too and didn't want anything bad to happen." the seaweed haired student responded.
"So any ideas on how to get out of this?" Melissa turned to look back at the water and the villains in it.
"Your quirk is electricity, right Kaminari-chan?"
Said boy turned towards the greenette, visibly trying to keep calm at the situation, "Yeah. What about it? There's not much I can do here."
Melissa turned to face them, her face seemingly lit up with understanding, "Can you swim very well or at least tread water for say 10 seconds?"
"Yeah I can, but I don't see how that's going to help."
Melissa turned to look at the edge of the water, trying to find the shortest path to the coast. "Easy. you're going to jump into the water a-" she was promptly cut off by Kaminari's protests.
"What but then they'll get me!!" he wailed only to have Tsu attempt to smack him with her tongue. It went through, leaving yellow static where the tongue went through for a moment before reforming into his face.
"Oh… Right."
Both the girls wanted to either facepalm or smack him. Given one was impossible they both elected to do the other. "Just get in the water and let loose," the blonde girl began, the exasperation in her voice was plain as day, "The hull of the boat should be insulated in case of a lightning strike in open water."
With that the boy jumped into the water and let loose. After a few seconds unconscious bodies began floating to the surface. Then the group began making their way to the coast portion of the area, only to be met with a gruesome sight.
_____
The homeroom teacher was not having a good time. When he had first jumped down into the moshpit of villains, he had done his best to work his way towards the man made of mist and the man covered in hands. (Never would've thought he'd describe someone like that.)
In order to do so he had to wade through the mass of people in front of him. It wasn't easy, but it wasn't particularly hard either. It was more a test of endurance for him, but boy was it a workout. He had managed to knock out at least 20 of them by now and they just kept coming. Eventually he got close enough to see the blue haired man and- wait where'd the purple mist go?
He barely heard it, but he could barely make out the screams of his students. To say that it put him into overdrive would be an understatement. He's supposed to be protecting them damn it!
"23"
He continued fighting as best he could.
"20"
He captured 2 villains with the gray scarf now known to be his capture weapon and swung them around like wrecking balls, hitting anyone within a 5 foot radius of him.
"18"
With enough wading, he was able to make it to the leader of the group. The man was able to dodge his attacks surprisingly well. But what was the most startling was his quirk. The man caught an elbow thrown by the teacher and began to speak.
"You know with those goggles it's kinda hard to tell when you're using your quirk and for how long. But if you really pay attention, it's easy to see that your hair raises when you use it." as he said this the man's hair dropped and the blue haired man began to use his quirk.
Aizawa's elbow began to fracture and crack. The longer the man had his hand on the teacher's elbow the more it cracked, soon pieces began flaking off showing the muscle and sinew underneath. The teacher's eyes widened at this as he groaned in pain. He kicked the man in the gut, releasing him from the man's grip and allowing him to back away.
"Your quirk… It's not good in group, battles is it? You usually specialize in sneak attacks after all. Even so you jumped straight in hoping to make the kids feel safe huh?" He continued even as the lackeys around him attacked the man. Commenting at how cool he was when the man deftly dodged and took them out. "I do have to warn you, hero."
Aizawa turned to face the man, unconscious bodies littered around him. "I'm not the final boss."
As he said this a behemoth with a beaked mouth seemed to appear in front of the hero, its hand above his head, before it grabbed him and slammed him into the ground.
Melissa, Tsu and Kaminari had just arrived at the beach to witness as the beast pinned the hero down, face to the floor and grabbed his arm. Not even a second later blood was pooling underneath it as the thing snapped Aizawa's arm like a twig.
The man with the hands' voice rang out, "Meet the Anti-Symbol of Peace. The bio-engineered Nomu."
