The Prison of Shadows
The depths where sunlight dies,
And silent screams fill shadowed skies,
Chains that bind and walls that leer,
Whisper secrets of ancient fear.
Monsters roam where humans fall,
Echoes of kings, the lost, the thrall,
Eyes that see though darkness reigns,
Blood-stained paths and endless chains.
Time is still, yet hearts may break,
The faintest hope, the deadliest stake,
In Aransas, where shadows play,
Only the brave survive the day.

In a cell full of dead human skulls and strange animal skeletons, Bernard stood lifeless on his feet, his head hanging low. His hands were bound against the wall with an iron chain, cold and unyielding, biting into his skin. He let out a labored breath, his chest rising and falling with exhaustion, and slowly opened his eyes.
