Along with the greetings, the clinking of glasses rises and falls in the izakaya.
Otsuka Hideaki, a white-collar worker in suit and tie by day, sheds his timidity and rigidity at work, now drinking and playing games with his colleagues. The intense roar of alcohol coursing through his stomach allows him to briefly forget the frustration and annoyance of being unable to draft a project plan at work.
The night is still long, from one izakaya to another, continuing from the bar to karaoke. The gatherings to "bond over drinks" among the corporate slaves often don't end easily.
