The cold morning light filtered through the blinds, casting pale stripes on the desk. Nagatomo Masao lifted his head from the pile of files, feeling a piercing dull pain at the back of his neck—
He spent the night here again.
The coffee cup at the corner of the desk was already empty, with dried brown stains clinging to the rim.
Nagatomo first rubbed the back of his neck, sore from sleeping on the desk, and then mechanically flipped through the documents on the table. The sound of paper rustling was ear-piercing in the empty office.

There were many tasks left to do, so there was no room for relaxation.
