Chapter 86 - Determining Battle in the Kingdom of Legorio (6)

Emerging from the haze of smoke, Marco appears in front of William, delivering a cross slash with his sword!

The sword is imbued with flames along its path, causing light to be emitted from one moment to the next.

The boy doesn't have enough reaction time to react. His mind knows he needs to dodge the sword's infernal edge, but his body doesn't move.

Internally, William fights his reflexes to make them move, but is unsuccessful.

The blade approaches the child's neck in a distressing way for him, but, when it looks like his head is going to fly, Yanma puts his sword in front and blocks the attack!

His arms fall violently to the ground along with his sword!

Light takes this chance and launches a stone spike aimed at his enemy's flank. However, Marco has quick reflexes, and can defend with his sword.

Marco's sword starts to become fragile and sensitive after so many impacts, meaning that it won't be long before it breaks into pieces, however, Marco doesn't seem to have noticed this.

With his free hand, the man casts certain magic that makes the palm of his hand begin to glow an intense red, as if it had been heated to the limit, like steel in a forge.

Yanma, who was still getting up, realizes that this is an explosive magic release!

"WATCH OUT!" shouts Light, who had also noticed.

Yanma only has time to push William away before Marco blasts Yanma at point-blank range with the release of magic.

The momentum of the explosion sends the woman flying backwards!

"BASTARD!!" William goes for it with a diagonal blow from below using his dagger!

Marco quickly turns around and grabs William's blade with his bare hand. With the other hand, the man raises his sword to his men and brings it down quickly!

The attack would hit William, but Light conjures roots that come out of the ground and entwine themselves around his opponent's arms.

"Again?" Marco mutters, remembering the previous scene with Rodic.

This time, Marco makes the sword burn in fiery, violent flames.

"WATCH OUT, WILLIAM!" Light automatically deduces that Marco will cast a flame cutting spell.

William suddenly gets the message and rips the dagger out of the man's hand, tearing his hands even more.

The boy then gets into a defensive position. Marco breaks the roots that Light made, and a blast of fire is thrown at William, practically at point-blank range, like Yanma.

The cutting flames are partially defended by the dagger blade. As the gust is large, the fire hits part of William's body.

The strength and speed of the attack causes William to be thrown!

He rolls across the floor, until it gradually stops.

Light is wide-eyed, relatively reassured that his brother managed to avoid further damage.

Marco's sword blade shatters as soon as he releases the last spark. Its pieces fall to the ground, ranging from small to large in size.

The last man standing, enemy of an entire kingdom, just watches the metal fall as he breathes deeply.

He is determined to win, he believes he has a chance in a situation like this.

If he manages to kill these children and the violet-haired woman, he will be able to complete his main objective...

Marco drops the rest of the sword that was left after much of the blade had broken.

He turns to Light, the last one standing there.

The boy, in turn, looks at Yanma's situation, who is a little in front of him.

She still appears to be breathing, but her face is largely obscured by her hair. Apparently, his left eye was affected by the explosion.

Light then looks at his brother, who is in the distance to his left. William seems to be doing well overall. He is currently trying to get up. Blood is visible oozing from his grated wounds.

Light then focuses on his enemy.

Only Light and Marco are able to fight. It was something that Light was afraid of happening, but there is no other option but to fight the last enemy himself in a one-on-one duel!

"How many minutes must have passed?" Light mentally argues. "One minute? Two minutes?" He wonders. "If things continue as they are, we will all be killed!"

Light takes a deep breath and concentrates. "Get a grip; now is not the time to despair." The boy manages to contain his emotions as if he were cold-blooded. "There's nothing to be afraid of. He must already be tired with all these injuries..." Light observes his enemy.

"From the battle against Rodic, I'd say Marco is on the level of a gold or silver adventurer, if you consider the advantage fire has against plants." Light rationally analyzes his opponent. "From the short battle we've had so far, I think he's at silver level..." Light concludes.

"In reality, these merits don't matter much. If he can even defeat a gold-level adventurer, I must go with all the strength I have!" The boy finishes his internal monologue, which happened in a few seconds.

The soles of Marco's feet condense from condensed flames, and in the blink of an eye, he appears in front of Light, at the entrance of the gate.

With the boy's sharp reflexes, he jumps slightly back and, simultaneously, directs his mana towards the ground, creating two roots that wrap around the man's body.

Marco then raises his two hands, each with a small ball of fire. When the hands come together, the fireball grows in size and strength.

That was the real goal!

Light is taken by surprise, and can do nothing but defend himself with his arms!

The boy is thrown into the kingdom, far from the fertile soil that would help him. The power of fire makes his wand break in two while he was defending himself. Part of his shirt sleeve is burned. His forearms, the area that was most affected by the attack, suffered the most damage.

He gets up after the fall and soon notices a sharp pain.

Light groans in agony and pain, his injuries are as good as a second-degree burn.

Even tears stream down the boy's face, as he cries to ease the pain in his forearms.

In a matter of seconds, the pain is suppressed by the adrenaline surging through your body.

"Shit! If William were here, we could activate our most powerful magic to defeat him!" Light thinks. "With my Thunder Magic and his Dragon Magic, we may..." A chance of victory passes through Light's mind, as if he had found a hope of survival, which, in this case, it really is.

Far from Light, outside the walls, William stands up, infuriated. At the same time, Yanma begins to recover.

Marco looks back and sees the child he thought he defeated earlier.

"Is this serious?" Marco is outraged by the boy's resistance. They were proving themselves to be strong and promising mages, worthy of being called opponents.

Marco extends his hand towards William, and from his palm come fire birds, with blue eyes so warm that the flames appear.

In total, five fleeting birds dart towards William.

"DODGE, WILLIAM!!" Yanma alerts, who managed to see the conjuration while she was down.

The boy manages to avoid just one bird, which passes close to his face, but the other flame birds collide with his body, causing William to be thrown back at the same time that small explosions affect him.

"HAAAAAA!!" At the same time, Light places his hands on the ground, and hundreds of roots, small and large, begin to emerge from the ground, breaking all the soil in front and around him, like violent tentacles!

Marco is surprised by Light's sudden attack!

"He's still not using his full power!?" Marco widens his eyes and thinks.

Behind Light, a tree begins to form, that's all the power the roots are using!
