Chapter 48 - Night hunt

"I'll take care of both of them, you can finish the Job," a guy said, standing beside a red haired blindedfolded figure.

"Alright, let's do this quickly," Ezekiel said with a sigh.

That same night, Will wasn't the only one out from the comfort of their shelter. Two figures stood afar watching Will as he struggled to fight for his life.

"Isn't it best to get rid of him now?" Berge said looking at Ezekiel.

"No... not yet. Let's see how this goes, maybe he's fated to die. Looking at his battered state, I don't think he would survive the night."

"Urghhh! That's what you always say. Over the past few days we've been watching him now, there have been a lot of opportunities yet we didn't do anything."

"I'm still thinking this through. Why do we have to kill him? What if the information is wrong. After all we've been searching for that clan for long, and had looked into the Sonoma clan also but found nothing."

'Why now of all time? I guess, I don't have the strength to go against the clan.'

"What's this!" Berge exclaimed as he saw three figures joining the battle. "Now we've wasted this chance, dammit!"

"Huh?" Looking at the battle he realised his team mates had arrived. "We finish the Job today, C'mon let's follow them." Jumping from tree to tree they had followed Belle and Dren and finally Ezekiel had attacked seeing what they were trying to do.

With their aura completed shrouded they had caught them off guard.

"Are you sure you would be able to do it, or you can hold them off while I get rid of him." Berge asked.

"No, I'll do it." Exekiel replied Jumping down from the tree. Berge followed after and without wasting time made use of the opportunity. With Belle and Dren separated from Will, he clapped his hands.

The surrounding seemed to wrap with them getting a bit dizzy. Looking around, Belle and Dren noticed their surroundings had changed. They were in an unknown area with Will out of sight.

"What the hell is happening?" Belle thought looking at the figure standing before them.

"Hey! What is going on." Dren was the one to speak up.

"Nothing concerning you guys, you're just in the way in completing our mission."

"Your mission? What are you talking about? What mission?" Belle was the one to reply, her hands clenched tightly.

"That guy... the silver haired boy, have been sentenced to death by our clan head. The order have been passed and we have to obey."

"Oh no! Will, there were two. It means the other one is with Will. We need to make it back quickly."

"Dren! We need to head back quickly, Will's life is in danger! You go, I'll hold this one back."

"Hmphh... keep on dreaming. Do you think I would stand and do nothing."

With her whips materialising, Belle wasted no time and charged forward her legs wrapped in blazing flames.

"It's decided then, a fight it is." Taking a stance, his expression turned to a serious one and the aura around him grew heavy.

Will had been unconscious after the attack from the beast with his injuries yet to be healed. With the crystals given to him by Belle, his pale expression finally gained colour.

The initial attack from Ezekiel had moved him from his position, his frame now resting on a tree. Standing before him was Ezekiel, a glowing ball at his fingertip.

"I'm sorry, boy. But I can't go against my clan. Doing it right now is easier than you being awake. At least you would die a painless death."

Swinging his hand forward, just as his fingers were about to penetrate his head, a wave of energy had erupted from Will, pushing him backwards.

[ Host is in danger ]

[ Emergency! Overdrive mode have been activated ]

[ All crystals within host inventory is currently being absorbed by host body ]

"Shit! What was that," Ezekiel muttered, getting off the ground. Looking forward, he could see his body emitting a faint glow with the injuries slowly healing.

[ Host have been successfully healed ]

[ The residual energy from the spike have corrupted host heart and would take time to heal ]

[ During this period host fighting duration would be halved ]

Just as the system message ended, Will felt a jolt, immediately rising off the ground. Before him, he could see someone charging towards him with killing intent evident.

With flames erupting from his hand he pushed himself forward evading his attacker. Holding onto the branch of the tree he flipped himself upward landing a few meters away from the guy.

At the corner of his eyes he could see the blinking messages but his focus was on the blindfolded red haired guy standing in a relaxed manner before him.

'Judging from the attack from before, its as clear as day. He's here to kill me. But, I've never interacted with him right from time.'

"You are only making things hard for me," Ezekiel muttered looking at Will. "Why not just stay in that state for a few minutes more and go out peacefully than this."

Clenching his fist, he stared back at him. "Go out without fighting? He said with a chuckle," I would rather die trying."

"Why... me? What have I done to deserve all this troubling? I don't care to know anyway, but one thing you should know, I won't die here, I still have a lot to accomplish."

"Let's skip the talk and get on with it, before you convince me to leave." Ezekiel is aura now rising, kicked off the ground. Rocks exploded everywhere as he charged forward and a glowing energy could be seen gathering at his fingertips.

"This! This is qi, I can feel the energy. But he's way above me both in terms of qi energy and level. This would be a hard fight." With winds spiralling at his feet and flames wrapping from his finger down to his elbows, he charged forward.

Far within the forest, a similar battle was going on. Belle charged forward throwing her flaming whips at Berge. The space seemed to twist and the whip had passed through him hitting a tree in the distance.

"Behind you!" Dren shouted, charging forward. She discovered what she had hit was just his after image and standing behind her he threw his clenched fist hitting her squarely behind.

The force had lifted her forwards crashing into trees before stopping. Dren lunged with his glowing daggers, with each swing he discovered the large gap between both of them. Swinging his backhand, he struck Dren's face sending him backwards.

"I told you to go after Will, I would handle this one on my own!" Belle said as she charged forward. Turning around, the wind began to gather round her, slowly turning fiery and with a yelp swung her whips with full strength.

A large explosion rocked the area with debris of dirt flying around. Standing at the center was two figures, with one holding onto the other one.

"You guys are so weak." Berge voiced out with a frown. Holding onto both hands, he lifted her upwards and with a twist of his waist, kicked out.

"Ughh," blood gushed out from her mouth. The kick had landed on her sides and it was an heavy one.

"Hmmm, the other one. Does he thinks he can escape me. I would have to deal with him also. But first, spreading his leg, energy had began to build up."

Belle struggled to free herself but his strength was higher than hers. "Not being able to free myself doesn't mean I'm helpless." The blood around her began lighting up as she waited for the right time.

Swinging his leg, a wave of energy could be seen across trailing behind. The kick had landed accompanied by a large explosion that sent both figures flying backwards.

"Ughhh," blood dripped down from her body, her eyes barely opening. "That guy... a... monster." She muttered as her eyes closed.

"Dammit! To think I would get injured by a pesky girl." Berge was seen standing tall, with blood dripping from a little injury on his foreman.

"Where's the other guy, I can't sense him." With a leap, he began scaling the trees, jumping from one to another in search of Dren.

"Where the hell is this place," Dren thought as he moved within his shadow. "It seems he had taken us far away from the initial spot, I need to move faster."

The breeze howled fiercely as a figure landed before a seemingly moving shadow. "Got you!" Berge exclaimed as he struck the ground, a large wave of energy erupting from the fist.

"Dammit!" Leaping from the shadow was Dren, his daggers on his hand. Dashing forward, he swung his daggers, and also summoning several shadow balls towards him.

"This isn't worth my time, I need a worthy opponent." Taking a step forward, his frame passed through Dren and he continued forward without looking back.

Dren stood there, it seemed time had stopped for a moment. Blood finally sprayed out from a large hole on his stomach and finally he stumbled forward before collapsing.

"I'm... so... weak."
