The man spoke, then suddenly lifted her up and placed her directly on the desk.
Arabella Vanderbilt blushed, watching his body gradually lean toward her, causing her to instinctively shrink back.
"What are you doing? Stop messing around."
She pressed against his shoulder, but Joel Russo lowered his head onto her shoulder instead. With a stretch of his long arm, before she could react, a piece of cake appeared in front of her.
"Eat it."
Arabella glanced at the cake in front of her and took it naturally.
"…Oh."
Joel kissed her on the side of her face, then bent down and sat in the chair.
Arabella had intended to get off the desk and eat on the couch, but Joel picked up a file, noticed her movement, and said:
"Eat right here."
Arabella stayed put.
After some time—a period during which the man alternated between reviewing a file and glancing up at her, repeatedly looking back and forth—Arabella finally couldn't resist and scooped a piece of cake, handing it to him.
