At this point in the conversation, Obby Stuart couldn't stay silent any longer. Clearly, he had thought it through carefully, and logically said, "Mom, you're just seeing the surface. I admit, I have feelings for Cherline, and I'm trying to help her. But do you know? Cherline is so strong, by her side, I'm always the one being protected... Including today at Uncle Edbert's house. When I got into a dispute with little Edbert, it was Cherline who stepped in to resolve it..."
"What? You had an argument with Edbert?"
Tercy Mason was both surprised and curious to know the truth, "Why did you two have a conflict? He didn't bully you, did he?"
"No. With Cherline there, he couldn't succeed."
Obby Stuart sighed softly, "As for the reason, I don't want to mention it. Anyway, I despise him in my heart."
"Then he must have done something to make you indignant."
Tercy Mason understood her son well, knowing he had a strong sense of justice and never engaged in shady, despicable actions.
