Seeing the blast rushing towards me, I effortlessly dodge to the side. Looking back at them, I am confronted with the scene of toothless being lifted by his back two legs by a curious dragon's snout and mother laughing at the antic's of the dragons. Setting her sights onto toothless and Darkwing, she moves over to the two to pet and fawn over the two dragons. Taking a few steps closer to the edge, I look down at the giant bewilderbeast laying in the water. Tearing my eyes away from the mighty dragon, I turn back to mother as she explained the events that led to her departure. As I listened to the story, the stormcutter nudged me with its horn. Giving it the pets it was asking for, I reached into my pouch and got a low grade dragon treat from my inventory and fed it to him. Sniffing the treat, he hesitantly accepts the treat and after swallowing, he begins to nudge me over and over, asking for more. Chuckling at it's antics, I give him another and walk over toward mother as she and hiccup walk over to the edge.
She explains, "Oh, Cloudjumper never meant to harm me. He must have thought I belonged here in the home of the great bewilderbeast. The alpha species. One of the very few that still exist. Every nest has it's queen, but this is the king of all dragons. With his icy breath, this graceful giant built our nest, a safe haven for dragons everywhere."
Hearing this, hiccup asks in astonishment, "Wait, that's the ice-spitter? He's responsible for all that destruction?"
In an explanatory tone, mother says, "He protects us. we all live under his care and his command. All but the babies of course. Who listen to no one."
Mother laughs at seeing the baby dragons clamber all over the giant dragon. Noticing us, the bewilderbeast begins to rise to our eye level. Mother, seeing the dragon rising, gives a small bow. Hiccup simply stands there in shock at how big the dragon truly is while toothless reluctantly bows. I, on the other hand, look at the dragon defiantly.
Mother says, "I've lived here for twenty years discovering their secrets."
Feeling the dragon trying to give me an order, I say, "My apologies friend, but I will not bow to anyone. Not even an alpha dragon."
Hearing my statement, mother asks, "Why do you say that?"
Smirking at her, I say, "Because, I'm half dragon."
Shocked, she asks, "Truly? Would you show me?"
Nodding at her, I begin taking off my shirt and jacket. Once they are off, I unfurl my wings as my scales begin to appear in a wave across my body.
Seeing me change, my mother moves toward me to inspect every detail, saying, "Incredible. How did this happen?"
Making up a story on the spot, I say, "When I found Darkwing as a baby dragon, he was in desperate need of medical treatment. The old doctor that had been trying to help him said that Darkwing was in desperate need of blood. Warm blood to be precise. The doctor had a theory that human blood would be a sufficient replacement until his bod could produce more. So the doctor asked if I was willing to be a donor. After agreeing, he hooked me up to a bunch of tubes to both of my arms that transferred my blood to Darkwing. What he didn't tell me was that he was replacing my blood with Darkwings at the same time. Once everything was finished the old man picked up his gear and said to take good care of him. I tried looking for the old man, but I was never able to find him."
Feeling Darkwing nudge his head against my hand, I began to pet him affectionately as I continue, "Ever since then, I have been feeding and taking care of this little guy. I was even able to make a sort of highly nutritious treat made for dragons. All because of him. He is also why I was so accepting of toothless the first time I met him."
Grabbing a high quality treat from pouch, I toss one for the big guy to eat. The dragon opens its mouth just enough for the treat to enter. Once we hear the dragon swallow the treat, his eyes dilate and a puff of frost escapes from its mouth. Looking over at hiccup, I see his hair and eyebrows had been covered in snow and I burst into laughter.
Mother laughs lightly and says to the both of us, "He likes you."
I give a small chuckle saying, "Or he likes the treat."
She says, "You boys must be hungry."
Hiccup responds, "Yeah, I could eat."
Mother smiles and says, "Good. It's feeding time."
Seeing her grab hiccup's hand, I jump off of the ledge and begin to soar around the spire with the other dragons while waiting for them to lead the way. Once we are out of the cove, we begin to fly eastward. Looking back, I notice the other dragons begin to follow us.
Hiccup, noticing the dragons as well, says, "Hey, I-I thought we were going to eat."
Mother, riding on top of cloudjumper, turns and says while holding out her hand, "Oh, we are."
She smiles and looks down at the ocean. Looking down as well, we see three sea shockers circling a school of fish. Suddenly, from below, the bewilder beast erupts from the water's surface. It catches the school of fish in it's mouth and, once it begins to fall back into the water, it sprays the fish into the sky for the dragons to eat. Seeing our shocked expressions, mother bursts into laughter. Seeing the other dragons diving down to catch some fish, I give the ok for Darkwing to join them in the feast. Once we finished eating, hiccup decided to show off his, admittedly, large map of the area's he has explored. After they finished looking at his map, we were brought over to a cliff with an extremely strong up draft. Without warning, I jumped off and decided to freefall for a bit before unfurling my wings and gently floating back up to the same level as the other dragons, only to see mother hopping from one dragon to another. seeing a gap in the dragons, I maneuver my way to fill that gap. Moments later, I felt a pair of feet touch my right wing and a hand caress my cheek. Looking up at my mother's smiling face, I feel my own face light up in a blindingly bright smile as well.
