They had been the lucky ones, saved in the chaos, and during the frantic exchanges of magic and attacks between the fighters below, B had lowered the pillar again, allowing the gathered civilians to assemble safely on the circular platform she had formed.
But not everyone from the remaining Shelters had arrived yet. Time was working against them, and the situation below was deteriorating far too quickly. Seeing this, B made the difficult decision to activate the pillar once more. Without waiting for confirmation or hesitation from the others, she lifted it for a second time, sending it surging upward toward the sky.
