He had spent the last few days working on his superpowers, and had gained a few new abilities.
First, he could make invisible objects using his telekinesis, like a baseball bat or invisible walls. Second, he could make his heat and freeze breath hot enough to do actual damage and could cause frostbite. If he mixed telekinesis and either freeze or heat breath, he could breathe out with one and turn them into fire or ice balls to use more tactically.
As he was typing on his laptop to code, he felt a crash behind him, then turned around to look and noticed a plant that Darcy was forced to give everyone in the neighborhood by the city was in pieces.
"Hey, Colosso, did you do that?" Max questioned, then turned to look at the rabbit.
"No, dingus, I didn't do that. I thought you did. It moved on its own." He replied, then Max hung his head.
"Fuck." He swore, then he stood up, cleaned the plant up, then walked upstairs to sit on the couch and wait for Phoebe to get home from hanging out with Cole.
~~~~~~~~~~
Max waited on the couch, watching the TV wobble a few times, the couch he is on move a move inches which have him right it.
She walks in, looking confused at a burnt flower. "You too?" Max questions, pretending like he doesn't know.
"Something like this happened to you?" She asks, holding the burnt flower up.
Max nods. "I froze a sandwich. But I didn't use my powers. Been waiting on our parents to walk in and tell us."
Phoebe nods before giving him an odd look. "How long have you been sitting there?"
Max replies, "Two hours." He notes, then holds up three fingers.
"What is-" Max lets his fingers slip down to two. "Max-" Max lets it slip down to one. "Seriously-" Then Max closes his fist and juts his fingers forward.
Right as he did it, their father yelled, "Emergency family meeting!" Then both of their parents bounded down the stairs.
"Everyone in the living room now!" Barb added, then looked at the twins. "Oh, you two are already in here. Good."
Billy and Nora walk in, Billy covered in dirt. Everyone looks at the two. Max just notes, "Before you say you only buried him up to his neck in your little panicky voice, his face is covered in dirt. Next time, have him wipe his face with superspeed to erase that part."
Barb, Hank, and Phoebe all give him a shocked look while Nora gives him a large grin. "I'll keep that in mind! Thanks!"
Max gives those still giving him looks raised eyebrows. "So, mom, what is the big news?" Max questions.
Barb breathes out slowly before saying, "The Achilles Comet is back."
Billy exclaims, "Oh, no!"
Hank looks at them. "Do you not know what that is?"
Phoebe, Nora, and Billy shake their heads while Max straight-faces it. "Max?" Barb questioned.
"It was the theory I was working with when I froze my sandwich. Wasn't one hundred percent sure. Now I am."
Hank asks, "You want to explain?"
Max shrugs. "Sure. Basically, the superpower lobe in our brains are dependant on the magnetic field of the planet. What the Achilles Comet does is it messes with the magnetic field of the planet and it confuses our superpower lobe, which causes it to activate when we give zero input to it, and we cannot stop it. We can barely control our powers consciously because of the confusion." He looks at the four that aren't him and Phoebe's confused faces. "Right, mom and dad barely passed science and the little two can't understand. It makes our powers wonky for a little bit."
Billy questions, "What does 'wonky' mean?" And as if on cue, his legs started speeding up and he sped to the door, slamming into it. "Wonky. Got it." Billy notes, then falls over.
Max gets to work and setting up a spot for Billy to lay down with his legs up, then they move him to the spot as Nora sits down next to him.
Billy asks, "Why do I have to stay like this? My face is too close to dads butt cushion."
Max hums. "We all have to make sacrifices, buddy. Sorry. We just don't know when your superspeed-" on cue, his legs start zipping at superspeed and he has to back up to prevent from getting hit. "will do that."
"We could always put him back in the hole?" Nora suggests.
The oldest male child replies, "That's how we end up with dirt on the house or into the house because of the windows being open. The hole won't work, no matter how tempting."
Nora nods with understanding. "Fair enough."
Hank gets the TV working then breathes out. "There it is. The Achilles Comet. It's path is unpredictable, but now that it's close to Earth, we can track it."
Phoebe looks at Max and asks, "What happens if it crashes into Earth?"
Max thinks for a second. He didn't fully know, but guessing it, he replies, "I would say probably nothing. Sure, it could do some damage where it lands, but it affects the magnetic field. Once inside the Earth's atmosphere, it won't do anything to us because it can't affect the magnetic field anymore. It'll just be another rock on Earth."
Barb and Hank look at each other. "We didn't think about that. Should we-"
"Tell the Hero League to pull it out of orbit? Hell no. They'll mess it up. If it comes down, it comes down. If not, then we deal with it for the..." he looks at the TV. "Ten hours until it passes."
Nora's powers then go off, and Max yells, "Down!" Which everyone complies with, until Max freezes Nora just enough to stop her, before he takes a small breath of relief. Then he thaws her out once it's safe.
Phoebe rubs her eyes then says, "Don't worry, dad. I'll keep everything under control at the dance tonight."
Max takes a small moment in his head. He could offer to go with her to stop her powers, but then they would question how he knew. But living that much episode again would be annoying if he let it play out.
He eventually decided to preserve his cover and live through it.
Hank stops Phoebe from walking away by saying, "There's a school dance tonight? I don't think so, sweetie. Sorry."
Phoebe whines. "But Cole asked me to be his date."
Barb squeals. "He did!?"
Phoebe walks over and they start bouncing up and down excitedly, and when they stop, Barb asks.
"What are you gonna wear?"
Hank crosses his arms, replying, "Pajamas, because you're not leaving this house."
Barb and Phoebe sigh in disappointed before Phoebe claps back with, "But, dad, I'm totally fine now."
Barb finally adds, "It's the twin thing. You two have to stay near each other. The last time this happened, we realized if we kept your cribs within three feet, your powers didn't go off."
Max, seeing the opportunity, says, "I could go to the dance with her. Keep her powers in check, she has a fun night, we come home in time for the comet to pass."
Barb, Hank, and Phoebe all give him a look. "You would really do that?" Hank questions.
"I got nothing better to do." Max shrugs. "Plus, my eyes are starting to get sore with all of the coding. I'll pull something out of the closet."
The rest just look at each other. "Alright."
Phoebe finally says. "You'll be ready by seven?"
"I'll be ready by six-thirty."
~~~~~~~~~~
True to his word, he was ready by six-thirty. They got there at seven-thirty and Max hung back exactly three feet for over two hours. Cole and Phoebe were having fun, while Max stepped around people everytime they moved.
The teen knew the next part was coming, but decided to let it happen anyways. Sarah bounded up to him, without glasses, in a strapless dress with matching heels. All yellow, obviously.
Her hair was up in a high ponytail, and honestly, this was much better than her show outfit for the dance. At least it doesn't look like she went immediately from school to the dance.
Sarah smiles sweetly. "Hey, Max. What brings you here?"
The guy points to his twin sister, replying, "They sent me to make sure that she doesn't go too far. They want her home with her card, so, I'm here."
Sarah nods. "I was... hoping that you could take mine tonight..." Sarah mutters.
Max had heard it. "Once she's home, I'll text you a location. We can find somewhere close to that and do things there. Sound good?"
Sarah seems to brighten up. "Yeah, I'm okay with that. I'll leave you to your babysitting. Later, Max." She give a cute wave with a sultry smile before walking off.
Max turns to notice Phoebe getting out of range to take a picture, and then steps to a loose follow.
Man, this part of his cover was much easier thanks to his military background. Thank fuck for that history.
~~~~~~~~~~
The trio walked up to the porch, but Max stayed three feet away to let them talk at the door. They had a much better time, and Cole didn't leave early so they didn't have to go to help with that.
He mentally noted that the second the comet passed, he had to excuse himself from the family, sneak downstairs, then leave again.
Finally, Cole bounded down the stairs and Max said, "Wait a second."
Cole paused, as Phoebe gave him a look. Max turned their backs to her, then Cole asked, "What did you need?"
Max talks in a low enough voice that Phoebe couldn't hear, "Okay, I'm going to lay a few things out for you. One, the reason I was with her is because she was nervous and wanted me there just in case. If she told you anything different, it was a lie to protect herself. Trust me, I've been stuck with her my whole life."
Cole copies the tone and replies, "Okay, I believe that. What's two?"
The brunette guy answers, "Two, if you ever hurt my sister, nobody will ever find your body. I'm a pretty smart guy, I can make it happen. And Tara likes Phoebe, so she would help me, that I promise you."
Cole nods, saying, "I understand. I was expecting something like this from her dad, though."
He shakes his head at Cole. "No, our dad is a softy, plus he doesn't care. You get me instead. And just ask Tara, I am a thousand times scarier. When is she going to be available to hangout with again, by the way?"
The blonde teen hums. Then he answers, "Tomorrow or the day after. She misses hanging with you, too, by the way. The amount of things I hear from her *about* you makes one thing she's in love."
"Maybe she is. Maybe I am too. Anyways, third thing, I want your number so I can check in with you. Any plans you may have, if you need to bounce ideas off of someone, a question, things like that. Can you do that?"
Cole nods then pulls his phone out, Max doing the same. Max quietly gives his number to Cole, Cole texts it, and once Max has confirmation, he gives him a pat.
"You're good to go. Have a nice night."
"You, too. Good talk." Then Cole walks off as Max steps up onto the porch.
Phoebe gives him a look. "What was that?"
"Setting some things straight, guy to guy." He motions for the door. "Ladies first." Phoebe gives him a look, then walks in, Max following behind her.
Barb looks at the two as they walk in. "Oh, good. You're just in time to see the comet pass."
Max watches the screen as the rest count down to it passing, and once it's done, Max moves to step down to his room silently, idly labeling Cole in his phone as, 'First on the List' as he got down.
~~~~~~~~~~
After an hour, he sent the location to Sarah. He hadn't changed, but he was waiting on everyone else to stop moving upstairs. And once they did, he grabbed what all he needed. His modified boxcutter, his wallet, his watch, then he slipped out of the window.
Though, he did give Colosso some ear scratches before he headed out the door with the promise of bringing home carrots. Not like he couldn't afford it, he was nearly a millionaire right now and he didn't spend the money that often.
Max walked to the location, hands in the pockets of his jeans, as he didn't wear dress pants to the dance. Just went in basically what Maxie wore last time, except the shirt was black and the vest was white.
That color scheme was very important, and was the only thing that he knew was going to be part of his new supersuit. White as a primary, with black accents. He had decided with spiritual names. Ghost, Spirit, Revenant, Poltergeist, Leviathan, Reaper, Shadow, etcetera. Sure, Reaper and Shadow would be more likely than not black as a primary with white as a base but sometimes things are odd.
Right now, it was between Ghost and Revenant. Both very intimidating names. Sure beat his old callsign, which was Eagle.
Max eventually got to the location, only to find Sarah already waiting. "Excited?" Max questioned, and she just nodded quickly. Max grabs her arm and guides her deeper into the alley next to them, shifting far enough away to not be seen by prying eyes but where Max could still see.
He preemptively silenced Maxie despite him being weirdly silent all day, then he shifted to pull his shaft out, her hand immediately going to grab it. Her soft hand rubbed up and down, her licking her lips as she did it.
"If you want it in your mouth, go ahead." Max told her, and she took that as more than enough invitation, dropping to her knees and slipping it in her mouth. The warmth enveloped him, her eyes drifting closed as she started bobbing up and down, the dress highlighting the curves she keeps hidden at school.
The slurps from her mouth was music to his ears, his hand shifting to brace on the wall above her, him starting to shift back and forth inside of her mouth, pushing further down her throat.
She gagged, but otherwise took it seamlessly. After a few more minutes, Max pulled back. "Alright... fuck..." He pants. Her blowjob game was much better than he was expecting. He could tell she was new to it, most definitely, but she had enthusiasm enough to rival Taras.
"You okay?" She asks.
Max just nods. "Yeah, I'm fine. Pull your dress up, either shift the panties to the side or drop them down your legs, and either bend over or put your back to the wall." Max orders, and she complies. The redhead lifts her dress up, lets her panties slip down her legs, then turns around, pressing herself to the wall.
Max steps closer and taps it against her, getting hissed moans from her, then he pushes the tip in. She groans in slight pain, and Max knows where to go from there. He takes his time, slipping in slowly, steadily, over the course of a few minutes.
Once he was all the way in, he let it sit there, the warmth surrounding his member below, Sarah getting adjusted to the feeling.
"I knew you were big... but... fuckkkk." Sarah moans, then she gets out, "It feels much bigger in me than in my hand, or even my mouth."
Internally, Max knows it's an inexperienced virgin talking, and he also knows that most teen guys would get an ego boost. But not him. He was too smart to buy into that, so he didn't say anything.
"Are you ready for me to start moving?" Max questions, trying to gauge what he should do next.
Sarah nods while biting her lip. "Yes, please, move. Grab my ponytail while you fuck me. Please." Sarah begs, and he is honestly surprised by what just came out of her mouth. Hair pulling and two swears in under five minutes. Sometimes all it takes is to get dirty with someone to get the interesting parts out of people.
Max starts thrusting, and the virgin tightness sends tingles down throughout his body. This was great, it had been awhile since he was with a virgin.
Sarah moans lowly as Max reaches his hand up and grabs the ponytail, gripping onto it as he starts pushing in and out quickly, groaning as he felt her tighten with the pleasure.
He started going faster, getting some louder moans from her. He put more force behind his thrusts, and all she did was moan and go flat against the wall, enjoying everything that he was doing to her at the current moment.
Max was a little embarrassed to admit this, but he was approaching climax faster than he would have wanted to. It was the pure tightness in it, but Sarah didn't seem to mind. When she went to orgasm, he pulled out to let her squirt on the ground, then he slipped back in, going as fast as he could now.
She was practically screaming with pleasure at this point, not able to take it for much longer. "Please... please cum. I want it. Please." She begged him.
He pulled out and forced her to her knees without turning her around, and she tilted her head back, sticking her tongue out lewdly as she did, while he used his hand to start cranking his shaft.
It came out in spurts, coating her face rapidly, making it whiter than it already was. Once he was done, he took a step back and put himself back in his jeans, while she stood up, her dress dropping as she gave him a grin, giving it a small lick.
She reached down and grabbed her panties before she gave him a look then tossed them in the dumpster. "I'm going to walk home without those and with this on my face." She gave him a grin then skipped off to go home while he just stared after her.
"What an odd girl." He said as she faded from view. Then he started walking to the newest store for carrots.
~~~~~~~~~~
He felt the presence again and pushed himself up out of bed, blinking twice to force her eyes to focus. He pushed himself up and looked at the woman, who did nothing but give him a small smile. "Max." She greeted. "Or would you prefer your original name?"
He stood up out of bed, replying, "Just Max is fine. Helps keep cover intact. Did you find something?"
Ash merely nods. "I did. But you may not like it."
Max gives his eyes a quick rub. "Let's hear it. How can I stop the universe from collapsing from too many changes?"
She let a piece of paper appear in thin air, then held it out to him, Max grabbing the paper. He could feel the otherworldly energy coming off of it, and knew he couldn't keep it. So, this read would be the only time he could touch this paper.
Max quickly gets through the whole page, then the air of the room drops quickly. He hands the paper back slowly, then takes a deep breath. "So to prevent it from changing, that's what I have to do?"
Ash nods. "Indeed. To make changes without the universe wiping everything, you have to subject someone to the mental toll equivalent of a universe dying. And-"
Max cuts her off. "And I have to change them out every month because it will kill them in a month. That's twelve a year, minimum. And if the change is drastic-"
"You would have to change them out sooner. It means kidnapping someone and holding them hostage, then subjecting them to worse than a normal human could naturally. The truly worst thing you could do to someone. And you would have to do it repeatedly. Do you think you could bring yourself to do that?"
Max takes a moment to weigh what it would do. Then he asks, "Do you remember what my role in the military used to be?"
Ash nods. "Yes. Lead interrogator. You did some questionable things for the sake of protecting your home."
Max nods. "That wasn't even for me. If it's for me, I'll do even worse. Yeah, I can do it. It would take an adjustment, but I could do it."
She merely nods. "Very well. You would have to make a device to filter that through somebody first, however. I can give you one tip."
Max nods, giving her a look to continue. But just in case, he adds, "What's the tip?"
"In one of the parks in Hiddenville, underneath the Earth, a human discovered a crystal that they could not remove as the field could not be penetrated, so they left it there. The crystal has the energies of the universe, and could potentially be used in whatever way you try to solve your issue. You will have to find it."
Max nods. "Thank you, Ash. I assume you have to leave now?"
"I do. But I wish you luck in your endeavor. Goodbye." She leans forward and his eyes close, her lips press to his and he savors the energy rush before it fades. When he opens his eyes, she's gone.
"That will never get old."
