Sophie Sullivan managed a forced smile. "I'm just scared... If something inappropriate happened between me and someone else, would you still want me?"
That strained smile was more like a bitter one.
She asked cautiously, but Thomas Shannon could still hear the fear and apprehension in her voice.
Thomas Shannon pressed her head against his chest, one hand gently patting her smooth back. "I won't let that happen."
Sophie discreetly let the corners of her mouth curve upwards. It seemed Thomas Shannon hadn't suspected this was a play she had orchestrated entirely herself.
People are perceptive. She could sense that Thomas Shannon treated her differently, which was why she dared to be so audacious and act without restraint.
If it were anyone else, she would have curbed her audacity.
Conversely, with Thomas Shannon, she felt no need to hold back.
After a long while, Sophie, her head still resting on his chest, asked in a muffled voice, "Who drugged me?"
"Amelia Shaw."
