Something flashed through Amelia Shaw's mind, gone in an instant.
Her breath hitched. "Was it you?"
"Samuel, what's wrong?"
"Frank Mitchell, you orchestrated all of this, waiting for me to walk right into your trap, didn't you?"
No wonder he was talking about us being in the same boat.
So, he had planned everything all along, including scheming against me.
When he went bankrupt, I abandoned him immediately. A man's dignity and pride trampled like that... he couldn't possibly bear me no ill will.
His return to the country wasn't to win me back, not to move me with sincerity so I'd return to his side, but to... take revenge on me!
"Samuel, how could you think of me that way?" Frank Mitchell's voice remained unhurried, as always.
