This was because they understood that all gods had Divine Judgement as an ability they could use, but the power released when a god used Divine Judgement differed greatly from one god to the next. The greater the power a god could release, the higher their position in their pantheon.
What Kai Syaoran had just done to the Eye of Heaven clearly showed that his power and position as a god were not to be underestimated.
The Eye of Heaven, of course, survived this attack and came back even more powerful. Kai Syaoran had previously been facing a single eye, and now he was faced with millions of them. Each eye was as powerful as the first eye that had been defeated. This was the heavens that Kai Syaoran was going up against, and if one were to think that he was a fool for doing such a useless and thankless task, they would not be wrong.
