When she heard that the other party was already married, Mrs. Graves lost interest in chatting and, after a few perfunctory words, pulled Gerald away to find a suitable match for her son.
Ruth Frazer raised her glass and gently clinked it with Gavin Graves: "I haven't congratulated you yet, welcome to the world of married folks."
Gavin smiled, "Thank you."
After they drank, Ruth's gaze moved over his long fingers holding the glass, "I heard some time ago that you injured your hand and were wearing gloves all the time. Is it better now?"
Gavin glanced down, "Yeah, it's fine now."
He switched hands with the glass, freeing his right hand to casually move his wrist so Ruth could see.
There was a trace of surprise in her eyes, quickly masked by a smile.
"Take good care of the emperor's body," Ruth joked, "otherwise, when your subjects panic, who knows what kind of trouble they'll stir up."
