"She's afraid to hold it." Old Master Black teased Jane Sampson, "This little lass has never cared much about money. The Black Family gave her a bride price, but if you asked her now, she might not even know what assets are in her name."
James Carter's lips curved into a smile; he found Jane Sampson quite admirable.
In such a circle, she hasn't been swayed by money or power nor by these immediate interests. Perhaps it's precisely her attachment to emotion rather than wealth that makes the grandparents in the house more fond of and compassionate about her.
The more she doesn't want, the more the two elders want to give.
"She's wonderful." James Carter couldn't help but praise Jane Sampson.
"I watched her grow up. I personally chose my granddaughter-in-law, of course she's great." Old Master Black was quite proud, don't mind the fact that they both have the surname Sampson.
