Jane Sampson's car had just arrived at the parking lot when she saw James Carter standing in the distance with a cane, waiting for her. She got out of the car and, in a good mood, hopped and skipped over to James, waving her hand, "Mr. Carter!"
"How come you dressed so lightly to come out? The weather has been a bit chilly these days." Seeing Jane's face flushed from the cold, James Carter quickly took off the scarf around his neck. He instinctively wanted to wrap it around Jane, but he caught himself mid-gesture and instead handed it to her, saying, "Put this on."
Jane pretended not to notice the change in James's gesture, and cheerfully accepted the scarf, "I'm in the car once I step out of the door, and indoors as soon as I leave the car. I don't feel cold at all."
Although she wasn't cold, Jane still accepted James Carter's kindness. His small action warmed her heart.
It really felt like having an elder brother.
