"She still has a slight fever; it'll get better once the fever subsides," Angela Summer said casually. "You all go ahead, I'm headed back."
Philip Shaw added, unexpectedly, "If she's not better by tomorrow, take her to the hospital for a check-up."
His unexpected words made Angela Summer pause. She hadn't heard him mention Aldana Candi for days now.
It's just that while she's been sick, he hasn't troubled her again.
Ellen Candi's corneal repair surgery is scheduled for next month. The idea of using Aldana Candi's cornea for the repair hasn't been dismissed, and it seems impossible to change this man's mind.
So Angela Summer stopped trying to persuade him.
Ellen Candi, unable to see, was being led by Philip Shaw, feeling somewhat helpless, softly asked, "Philip, where are we?"
"This is the place I brought you to play tonight. Don't worry, I'll hold your hand and won't let you get lost."
"I can't see..." she shook her head.
