One night passed, and Tara Hammond finally awakened.
When she woke up, she found her right eye covered with gauze. As she slightly tried to move her lips and make a sound, the entire right side of her face felt as if it was being cut by a knife.
"Uh..." A painful and hoarse sound escaped Tara Hammond's throat.
"Mom, mother... you're awake!" Evelyn Lucas was lying by the bedside, and when she heard the sound, she lifted her head.
"Eve...lyn..." Tara Hammond felt her throat was very dry, making speaking difficult.
"Mom, don't worry, I'll call the doctor."
Soon, the doctor arrived.
After examining Tara Hammond, Evelyn Lucas gave her some water to drink, and only then could Tara speak again.
The first thing she said wasn't to ask about Theodore Lucas, who harmed her, nor about the injuries on her face, but instead she asked, "Where's your father? I was injured and admitted to the hospital; why isn't your father here watching over me?"
