Lily looked at the man before her with eyes as tender as water.
"I like you, we've been through so much, and it wasn't easy to be together. Even if my brother tests you now, and my parents test you later, those are just small challenges between us."

Others call them 'they', but they call themselves 'us'.
'Us', there's no need to feel indebted or apologetic to each other.
That was a truth Lily had suddenly understood after all they'd been through.
If feeling indebted meant running away, feeling guilty meant hiding, then the debt and guilt between her and Aidan Lucas would take who knows how long to settle.
