"Don't steal my cake..." Zoe Yale murmured softly in her sleep.
Charles White's facial expression changed instantly.
Even in her dreams, she's guarding against someone stealing her cake. Is it because of the shadow he left on her back then?
"I didn't know I'd forget you. If I had known, I wouldn't have left without saying goodbye." Charles White gently caressed her cheeks.
If he had known he would forget her, he would have written his name all over her room.
He would have left his address for her.
That way, even if he forgot her, she could come looking for him...
They wouldn't have missed so many years between them.
He could have been by her side, childhood sweethearts, and then from the princess dress to the wedding gown...
Charles White quietly watched her until he saw her wake up.
"Awake? Is your chest still feeling uncomfortable?" Charles White lifted her up from his embrace and checked her over as soon as she opened her eyes.
