My breath hitched. The thought of Vadim becoming a champion of the Abyss was terrifying. I had to protect him, not just from our enemies, but from himself.
I gasped as I thought about Vadim's dream, the one where he had heard that name. That man had called himself a criminal. "Wait, are you the one from his dream?"
He sighed and shook his head. "No. But Reginald's grip on that one is stronger."
I furrowed my brow. What did he mean by that?
"His dream? That was a warning from the future. Another life, another path." The white-haired man said, his gaze distant. "A path where your happiness hangs via a thread."
I frowned. Was he saying that that man was Vadim's reincarnation? We had live for a few centuries now, but we still had at least seven-hundred years to go before we die.
"For you, the future you, that man is willing to darken his heart."
I frowned. Vadim... were all his lifetimes willing to sacrifice themselves for me?
