Vadim rubbed my shoulders as we entered our inn room. "Relax, Amelia. Stressing won't help you."
I smiled weakly. "Sorry. Meeting that man has had me on edge. That vision I saw when we visited the Cathedral as teens... it was that man who killed my past life and her companions. So... I know his power first hand."
He hugged me tightly from behind, steadying my shivering body.
I leaned against his strong chest and closed my eyes, letting his warm take away the chill in my skin. "I just can't shake the feeling that we're walking into a trap. Reginald enjoys playing with his opponents according to my past life. While that might benefit us, there is something terrifying about such an opponent.
Vadim tightened his grip, his warmth enveloping me like a protective shield. "I understand. It's natural to feel uneasy when facing someone like that."
