[Time of Niconora's childhood]
Niconora stared at me with big eyes. "So that's how you met Daddy? He sounds just the same as now."
I nodded at my daughter. "Yeah, although he isn't entirely."
She frowned and tilted her head. "What do you mean?"
"Is Daddy troubled?" my son asked, frowning as he looked up at me with concern.
I sighed, my heart heavy with the weight of memories that came flooding back. "Well, war takes a toll on people. Especially for someone as kind as your father." I paused, searching for the right words. "When we first met, he was full of hope. He believed in a better future, in peace. But the things he's seen, the choices he's had to make... it changes you."
Niconora's brow furrowed in thought. "But he still loves us, right?"
