After buying a few stuff, Saffron and I had to say bye to our little girl and his family.
Anis pouted and stretched her arms at us. She wimpered and kicked her little legs as if we were going to leave her forever. "Ma, Da!"
Watching Anis reach out to us with those big, imploring eyes tugged at my heartstrings. Her little voice, calling out for us, made it all the harder to say goodbye, even if it was just for a short while.
"We'll be back soon, sweetheart," I promised, gently brushing a strand of hair from her face. "You have fun with your grandma, Auntie Alli, and Uncle Sil, okay?"
Anis's lower lip trembled, and it was all I could do to keep my own emotions in check.
Saffron stood beside me, wrapping an arm around my shoulders, offering silent support. "We'll be back before you know it, little one," he said, his voice warm and soothing.
