When they reached the residential area, Shun asked Matsumoto for something to wrap his brother's body in, leaving only the head visible, as he could not show that body to his mother.
Once he had done so, he started to return home, with a lump in his throat, not knowing how to tell his mother the news.
As he stood in front of the door, he stood still, not knowing what to do. Until he heard a faint voice from inside.
"Shun-kun cof... is that you?" asked Aiko from inside.
Hearing her, Shun's eyes became teary and he slowly walked towards the door. When he entered with Jiro's corpse in his arms, he fell to his knees in front of his mother.
"M-mother I'm sorry sniff..., I couldn't protect him" Shun said while crying.
Aiko remained blank, she did not know how to react to such a situation, although she always knew that there was a possibility, however remote, she never wanted to think about it. As a mother, the most painful thing was the death of a child.
Slowly she approached Shun, bent down and they began to cry together, until late at night. Then they waited until dawn, to go and bury little Jiro's body.
"Shun-kun cof... none of this is your fault, understand?" Aiko said in a serious tone as she glared at Shun.
"Mother, if I had come earlier..." Shun said with a sad look on his face.
"Don't say that, it has nothing to do with you, I'm the cof... responsible for fainting and not going to look for him" Aiko said in a painful and guilt-ridden tone.
Aiko and Shun hugged each other and then began to carry the corpse, to give it a dignified burial.
Matsumoto helped them, to get a good place away from so much pollution and gave them some flowers.
They returned to their hut, where there was a depressing atmosphere. The next day, Aiko fell ill again. In addition to the illness she was already suffering from, there was the depression of losing her young son.
Shun did not know what to do, the last thing that could happen to him was to lose his beloved mother, he went to look for a doctor in the city of the kingdom, with the money he had saved.
The bad news was that the doctor could see Aiko in 3 days as he had a full schedule. All the other doctors were the same and he even had to wait more days, so he decided to wait those 3 days, while giving her homemade medicine, which was a gift from Matsumoto. In the evening, Shun was preparing, the medicine for his mother.
"Mother in 2 days a doctor will come, you must be strong and hold on" Shun said with a worried tone while giving her the medicine.
"I'm fine Shun-kun cof...I just want to tell you that I will always love you my little brave one" Aiko said with a weak voice and love in her tone.
"D-don't say such things, mother, you'll get over it, now go to sleep so you don't overexert yourself" Shun replied with a voice that was about to crack.
Aiko smiled and closed her eyes to sleep meanwhile, Shun stood on guard as usual and closed his eyes, to activate his ability so he could get some rest.
Shun woke up by the singing of the birds, he fell asleep deeply, he had never had anything like this happen to him, he quickly woke up and went to Aiko.
"Mother, I'm late, I overslept, do you feel better?" asked Shun while yawning.
Seconds passed and his mother didn't answer.
"Mother?" Shun repeated urgently, but still got no response.
He quickly walked over and began to call her gently by the shoulder, but she still didn't react. Something inside Shun snapped. He checked his pulse and didn't feel it. Confirming that there was no more life in Aiko's body.
Aiko could not bear the loss of Jiro, which put her in a much weaker state than before. This added to her already existing illness, making her unable to make it through the night.
Shun started crying again, in his mother's lap, for a long time. He could not process everything that happened these days, from having a lot of money and being able to eat meat with his family, to having no family.
Shun just wondered why him, what he had done wrong?
After crying for a long time and thinking about some things, he picked up his mother and began to carry her to where his brother Jiro was buried.
As he walked to his destination, there were many people in the residential area at that time of day. The looks they gave Shun were different: Pity, mockery, glee, empathy, and many more, Shun didn't mind this and after about 20 minutes he arrived at his destination.
He made a hole next to his brother's grave and placed his mother, when he finished, he remained still kneeling near the two graves in silence. In addition to the sadness, an icy and fierce look could be seen.
The only thought he had was that of revenge. Revenge towards those who killed his brother and no matter who they are pay them back with the same coin.
Revenge towards the Frause Kingdom that, because of their corruption and extreme poverty, his mother became ill long ago and they had nothing to eat. Had it not been for this, their mother would not have fallen ill and could have taken care of her brother much better.
Besides, whoever killed his brother most likely had something to do with the Frauce Kingdom.
Soon after Matsumoto arrived, as rumors of Shun carrying his mother's corpse spread quickly, Shun noticed his arrival but said nothing.
Matsumoto didn't say anything either since he knows that no matter what he says it won't help Shun. He just went to give him his company in silence. Shun was very grateful inside, although he didn't express it on his stoic face.
After a while, Shun said goodbye to Matsumoto and returned to his hut with a serious face. Matsumoto had no idea what Shun was thinking.
