Chapter 68
Dafa's POV: Inside of Myself
The stone in my chest didn't just crack, it shattered. The cold, rigid judgment I'd worn like armor dissolved, leaving behind a hollow, sickening shame. I wasn't a discerning officer assessing evidence. I was a fool who had accepted counterfeit truth as if it were gold.
I looked at her face, not the defiant criminal Lilith had painted in my mind, but just Alayna.
Exhaustion shadowed her eyes, and beneath it was a disbelief so sharp it didn't need words.
Her silence said it all.
Lilith's accusations was so convincing days ago, but now it melted away like fog under harsh sunlight. They hadn't been truths. They had been theatrics. Performance. Jealousy wearing the mask of sincerity.
But this… this moment?
This was real. Too real.
