Chapter 519 - Chapter 516

Dong dong dong…

"Act Two: The End!"

As the sound of the drums faded, the announcer's voice called out, and the second shadow play ended. The backstage staff hurried to rest, drink water, and eat something to replenish their energy.

"Hm?" Elisa turned her head to look behind her, her emerald-green eyes scanning the crowd. She kept feeling like someone was staring intently at her.

"Elisa, what's wrong?" Mina asked softly. She also turned to look back, but all she could see were the silhouettes of people.

"It's nothing," Elisa said, shaking her head and turning back to the stage. Maybe it was just her imagination, she thought. Her identity had already been exposed, and she was always worried someone would come to Sedona City to cause trouble.

"..." Mina frowned and also turned back around, quietly waiting for the next play to start.

Watching the shadow play with so many people felt lively to the cat-ear girl. It was a different kind of life experience, although she didn't particularly like large crowds.

Dong dong dong…

The drums sounded, and the third act began. The somewhat noisy chatter immediately died down. In the crowd, Lucy slowly raised her head. She saw the play had started again and breathed a sigh of relief. She had been staring so intently at Elisa's back just now; she hadn't expected the elf to be so sensitive.

"Would it be so bad if she saw you?" Jones turned around and said flatly. "She doesn't seem like the ostentatious type."

"People change," Lucy sighed and quietly watched the play. She felt that the story being performed on stage would make a fantastic novel.

Time passed slowly. When you're focused on one thing, time can feel too short.

But for Nicole, this was an ordeal. Her legs would periodically tense and relax, her cheeks were flushed red, and her eyes were misty. She gripped Lucas's long hair tightly, her breathing a little rapid, as if she were desperately holding something back.

"Nicole, what's wrong?" Helen sensed something was off with Nicole and turned to ask with concern. "Why is your face so red?"

"I'm... fine," Nicole said, biting her lip. She was a little too embarrassed to say she had to go to the toilet. She looked down at the soundly sleeping Lucas and didn't want to wake him.

"Really? I have the first-aid kit here. There's medicine," Helen said, her rabbit ears twitching as she took out the kit she was holding. She had brought it along when she went to get the digestion tablets.

"Really, I'm fine," Nicole said, shaking her head and taking a deep breath. She had almost lost control just then.

"..." Helen frowned and nodded silently, not saying any more. She turned back to the play, but every so often she would glance over and see Nicole frequently checking her watch.

Time continued to pass. As the third shadow play reached its finale, the time was now past 11:50 PM.

"Master, wake up…" Nicole whispered, gently pushing him, her face beet red. The problem was that his cheek was pressed against her lower abdomen, and the warmth of his breath made her whole body feel weak.

"Mmm?" Lucas slowly opened his eyes and asked lazily, "What time is it?"

"It's almost twelve," Nicole said, her breathing heavy.

"Huh?" Lucas was stunned for a moment. He could sense something was wrong with Nicole and quickly sat up. "Nicole, what's wrong?" He asked with concern.

He was honestly frightened by her current appearance. Her face was flushed, she had a pained expression, and her eyes were so misty it looked like she was about to cry.

"I..." Nicole's body trembled as she tried to stand up. She had to get back to the castle's toilet, quickly. She couldn't hold it anymore. But as she got halfway up, she found her legs were numb and she couldn't use them. Lucas had been using her thighs as a pillow for too long.

"Tell me, what's wrong? Is it your stomach?" Lucas asked anxiously, seeing her clutching her abdomen.

"Master, lean in," Nicole stammered. She really couldn't hold it anymore. She absolutely could not have an accident in public.

"Go on…" Lucas quickly leaned his head closer.

"Master, I... I have to…" Nicole whispered in his ear, her words broken and full of shame, "Go to the toilet."

"Uh…" Lucas was dumbfounded for a second. The corner of his eye twitched, and he didn't know whether to laugh or cry. He quickly scooped Nicole up into his arms and turned to the cat-ear girl. "Mina, give everyone New Year's greetings for me."

"Yes," Mina said with a strange expression. She had also heard what Nicole said and was trying her best to hold back her laughter. She never thought she'd see the day Nicole had such an embarrassing moment.

Lucas didn't care what anyone else thought. He carried Nicole and strode towards the castle. He looked down at Nicole's blushing face and said helplessly, "You could have just woken me up."

"I…" Nicole was too ashamed to speak and could only bury her face in Master's chest. This was truly a bit humiliating.

"Really…" Lucas gave a wry smile. The girl couldn't bear to wake him, which led to this pitiable situation.

Lucas thought about the girls back on Earth. So few of them were this innocent anymore. A girl this foolish probably didn't exist. If they were in this situation, they probably would have smacked you awake long ago. What do you mean, sleep? I have to go to the toilet!

"We're here. Hurry up and go in," Lucas said, quickly putting Nicole down when they reached the castle's toilet.

"Mhm," Nicole replied in a voice softer than a mosquito's buzz and ran into the toilet with a red face. It was too embarrassing.

"Phew…" Lucas let out a light breath.

"Happy New Year!!!"

Suddenly, shouts came from outside, like a great ocean tide, each wave louder than the last.

"So the New Year is here," Lucas chuckled, glancing at his watch. It was exactly twelve o'clock. His new year in another world had begun.

Swish!

Pat, pat, pat…

Nicole ran out of the toilet, covering her face, and quickly scurried away. It was too humiliating! She didn't dare face the Master right now.

"Honestly…" Lucas watched Nicole's flustered figure run away. To have an embarrassing incident happen right at the start of the New Year... he couldn't help but chuckle. "Things will only get better from here."

"Yawn!"

"I'm still a little sleepy." Lucas walked towards his room. After these few relaxing days of the New Year, things were about to get busy again. The running water project, the city expansion project.

"It would be great to have a few more people to help."

Lucas's muttering could be heard in the hallway, making the maids on night watch look at each other.

"The Lord is so diligent."

"Yes, everyone else is on holiday, but the Lord is still concerned about his domain."
