Chapter 390 - Chapter 390: Patents & Armor November 26

Now, while I had the desire to create and sell televisions, there were several steps I had to take beforehand; one of the most important things I considered was acquiring a patent. After all, it wouldn't take long for the televisions to become popular, and to prevent other businesses or people from stealing and copying my product, I'd need to patent my idea.

However, there was another problem with the patent even before that. "Hey, Jackal, do you know what a patent is?" That was, did patents even exist in this world? Glancing at Jackal, he raised an eyebrow before shaking his head. "No, never heard that word before. Sort of sounds like a blacksmithing technique. What is it?"

"Imagine you're the first person to make a sword, and to stop others from copying the sword and selling it as their own, you put a patent on it. Now, by law, only you can sell the sword." When I finished speaking, Jackal slowly nodded while staring at me. "No fucking way such a thing exists." "You sure?" "No, but c'mon, there is no way. You'd have a monopoly in the market, that's too much power; no one would allow that."

I couldn't deny Jackal's claim, as he was correct. "True, but it's not all good. The patent would only last about two decades, and I'd have to publicly reveal how my invention works." "Okay, if that's true, it goes from no fucking way to plausible." Rubbing his bearded chin, Jackal furrowed his brows while nodding, causing me to faintly smile.

"But what idea do you have where you'd need a patent?" As he gave me a curious gaze, I spent the next ten minutes explaining the concept of television, which left him staring silently at me before he rubbed his face and sighed deeply.

"Fuck… No wonder you've asked me what a patent is. You'd make so much money off that." "Yeah, I know. However, it's just a concept right now. I need to actually create it." Lightly nodding, I patted the desk and stood up, leaving the office while Jackal followed closely. "For now, let me cook breakfast." "Oh, I am hungry." "Hah, aren't you supposed to be my servant? What servant eats the food their Master makes?" "Tch, stingy bastard." "Haha!"

Laughing, I headed to the kitchen, putting on my apron as I began preparing breakfast for my family, while Jackal bored holes into my back before leaving.

With everything finding its rhythm, our lives somewhat returned to normal.

As Jackal got accustomed to his job, I had him deal with our armor situation; I needed an entirely new set, and the others were very worn out. So, I went all out, spending a total of ten platinum to equip us with the best armor money could realistically afford. Since it was of such high quality, it would take a while to finish, which left us with plenty of downtime.

During that downtime, I obviously spent it with my wives; taking them on dates, making love with them, or just quietly spending time together.

I was also working on the television, having enlisted Jasmine and Lazuli's help; Jasmine primarily used light mana, and Lazuli was proficient in nearly all types of mana except time. Considering how TVs worked, I assumed light magic would be required here, so I figured they would be the best help.

Though I will say, I ended up getting sidetracked frequently because of them; it was hard to stay focused when two of my lovely wives were around. It would've been a crime not to touch them.

Besides that, I'd occasionally visit Kurama, bringing up the topic of possibly working together business-wise, to which she responds by agreeing only if she and I enter a relationship, causing me to wryly smile as I merely told her to visit sometime.

I had also visited the Duke's estate, as he was hosting a small banquet to celebrate his son's arm, the one he had lost. True to their words, under my recommendation, they managed to acquire a meeting with Kurama, who happened to have a legendary healing potion just lying around; of course, payment was her forcing me to owe her a favor.

Oh, I nearly forgot, but I had my birthday, thirty-one. I didn't celebrate it, as I hardly cared about that stuff; however, that wasn't the case with my wives.

I don't know when, but they must've come to an agreement earlier, since when I had gone to my room to sleep, all of my wives were standing in my room wearing black, lacey lingerie, waiting for me. Needless to say, my birthday extended for a whole week. Best birth-week by far; I don't think it can ever be topped.

Other than that, the days were relatively normal; though normal was never a bad thing.

Yawning softly, I sat in my office, having read through papers as I'd acquired a few shops and a warehouse, places where I intended to set up and sell my televisions.

However, while I was reading, the door was busted open by a hulking behemoth of a knight carrying two door-sized shields, and such a sight, only one word came to mind. "Sexy." "How do I look?" Slightly distorted and deep, Yuki's voice escaped from her helmet while she slowly turned around, giving me a complete view. "Sexy." "I'm being serious, Alex." "Sexy."

Groaning, Yuki removed her helmet, shooting me an annoyed glare while I smirked before standing up. "Is that our new armor? It looks good. Shinier than our old one. Also, not as heavy." "It just arrived today. How'd you know it was lighter?" "Because I didn't feel your footsteps until after you entered." Rolling her eyes, I chuckled before grabbing the helmet from her hand.

"Hmm, it is much lighter." Tossing the helmet back to Yuki, I clenched my fist before throwing a punch at her, though she hardly budged. "Also very durable, not even a dent from my punch; granted, I didn't use magic." Dusting my hands, I nodded, satisfied with the result, while Yuki lightly hit my head. "Hey, don't just suddenly hit me!" "Hah, what do you mean? You're my wife, that's one of the privileges I get."

As Yuki's expression seemed to twitch endlessly, I laughed before stepping closer. "So, mind taking that armor off? I'm feeling a bit excited from earlier." Unfortunately, Yuki wickedly smirked as she donned her helmet and walked off, leaving me alone and semi-erect. "Tsk, I was just joking." Muttering under my breath, I left the office, heading down to the training grounds, where I spotted everyone wearing their own armor.

Lazuli wasn't wearing any; it seemed she had already consumed her armor and integrated it into her nano-bot body. Vanye was wearing her armor, consisting of a chest plate, helmet, and boots; she always wore the fewest possible armor pieces, protecting only her vital areas, and that was it. Jasmine's armor was considered light armor; she wore a chest-plate, greaves, and gauntlets. Everywhere else was covered by specially woven fibers, a good combination of defense and agility, and considering the rest of us would protect her, it was plenty.

Talis also had armor, her first official set of armor. Considering Talis was all speed, she had a chestplate and a covering for her talons, making them much sharper and deadlier. I wouldn't even consider the second piece, an armor piece; it was a weapon, if anything.

Heading to the big box where everyone had grabbed their armor, I moved some stuffing around until I saw the final set. Grabbing it, I put it over my clothes, tightening it where I needed to until it felt snug yet comfortable.

"Fufu, you look quite sexy, Alex." Brushing her hand across my chest, Jasmine winked at me while clenching her hand around my crotch. "I said the same thing to Yuki, and she just got annoyed." "Of course she did." With a knowing smile, Jasmine removed her hand and walked off.

My armor was similar to Jasmine's and classified as light armor, not exactly ideal for someone who's in the front alongside Yuki, but it fit my preferred fighting style. Because of my blood, I couldn't be like Yuki, who just tanked everything; I needed to dodge everything, and less armor impacted my mobility less, especially around my joints.

Summoning Trina and Zartha from my body, I gripped their hilts and swung them, attacking nothing, merely wanting to get a better feeling for the armor. However, while I was breaking my armor-in, I suddenly stopped mid-swing and brought my swords up, blocking a swift blow. "You couldn't have at least said something?" "You haven't been training a lot lately; I was ensuring your senses haven't dulled."

Faintly nodding, Vanye retracted her sword while leaping back, causing me to roll my eyes. "You just wanted an excuse to fight in your new armor." "... Yes." Faintly blushing at having been caught, Vanye averted her gaze, causing me to sigh. "Alright then, why don't you see if my senses have dulled?" Lowering my stance, I raised my swords, prompting Vanye to instantly do the same before we dashed at each other.
