The captain of the East Side patrol on the outer ring wall was a man known as Luther Fronin of the Fronin noble family.His noble family and their noble guards were commonly known for defending the outer ring wall from any and all threats.
Luther Fronin himself was proud of his duties and swore to defend Ring City with all his might.He had accumulated a mountain of fighting experience battling orcs and rival cities.However nothing could have prepared him for what he saw beyond the wall.
As if acting as some sort of omen a massive bright light erupted from the direction of the Derbyshire woods.Almost immediately afterwards a wave of green appeared from the Derbyshire woods.
Luther Fronin at first assumed it was orcs but a disgusting number of them.He then saw through a telescope and figured out that it was mutated goblins.
Luther then wondered whether or not to alert the other patrols and ask for reinforcements from the royal guard but the sheer number of goblins was nothing to scoff at and would cause a bit of trouble if allowed to go unchecked.
"Alert the other patrols of the threat of goblins,call for reinforcements from the royal guard squadrons,activate the outer walls defenses,close the gates and activate the outer ring wall magic barrier."Luther let out a storm of commands as his men rushed to perform their respective duties.
A number of noble guards went to man the outer walls defenses such as mortars and ballistae.Other noble guards activated the outer ring walls magical defenses which included magic runic inscriptions that ran along the length of the wall that served multiple purposes.Other noble guards went to communication orbs to communicate with the rest of the outer ring wall patrols and the royal squadrons along with the personal armies of multiple noble families.
"Huh goblins"

"No we're not joking and there's a stupid amount of them."Many versions of this phrase were used in order to convince multiple elements of Ring City to send their fighters.
Shortly after the gates into Ring City were closed off and a colossal spherical magic barrier appeared covering the entirety of Ring City.It was a barrier that easily let things out but didn't let things in easily.Moreover it was powered by a powerful resource that only the noble families and royal family had access to and they had plenty of it.
Reinforcements also arrived from the noble and royal guards.They arrived just in time to see the wave of green already running rampant on the farms and towns outside Ring City.The wave of green devoured almost every living creature they came across whilst other creatures were seemingly teleported.
There hadn't been any evacuation due to the fact that it would have taken too long.The wave of green arrived at Ring City in an incredibly short amount of time.If the gates of Ring City had still been open then the goblins would have gotten in and far more lives would be in danger then what happened right now.Luther Fronin was grateful for his quick decision making although he felt that the loss of human life would have a negative impact on his position.
The noble guards manning the outer ring wall defences were already firing the mortars and ballistae at the seemingly inexhaustible number of goblins.The arrows and mortar fire simply bounced off the magical barriers that the goblin mages conjured.The same went for the magic missiles and lasers that came from the mage towers on the outer ring wall.
It became clear to everyone on the wall that the goblins were using a unique type of magic formation which enabled them to pool their mana together to create a near inexhaustible supply of mana.If all the goblins could do was defend however then there was nothing to fear.
It was at that point that the goblins attempted to scale the outer ring wall.They climbed each other bodies in an attempt to scale the 60 metre wall.All the noble guards and reinforcements remained inside the barrier as a number of goblins appeared on the outer ring wall.The goblins couldn't breach the barrier however that changed when a unique looking rogue goblin.It was dressed like a rogue in black.
This was one of the seven goblin chieftains who was at the low A class.His authority was only second to that of the goblin king.His name was Grimdank.
Grimdank looked upon the barrier and realised that brute forcing his way through was pointless even with the help of the magic formation.Grimdank however had other ways then brute forcing.
"You humans truly think this barrier will keep me out.Unfortunately for you I have a way of entering your city."His words caused grim and shocked expressions among the human guards.
Grimdank then rejoined the wave of green behind him and cast a powerful spell with the help of the wave of greens inexhaustible supply of mana.
