Orion and the adventurers had been transported to the interior of one of the churches of Ring City in the commoner section.Everyone looked surprised as they appeared especially when they realised that Orion had an abnormal goblin in a net.The priests and paladins immediately got over their surprise and encircled the group.
"By the church of the light hand over that goblin so we can kill it."one of the priests who appeared to be in charge of the church ordered piously.He wore grand white robes ordained with golden markings along with a large hat Orion would expect from a bishop or the pope.
"This is our goblin why should we hand it over to you?."Orion disobeyed the priests orders as this was the goblin he had personally captured for archmage Mandar.This was a matter of earning the trust of the archmage and getting him to teach Orion magic.Why the hell should Orion listen to a random priest.
"Our grand religion the church of the light demands that all monsters,demons and quasi-humanoids aside from dragons and dragonkin ought to be exterminated."announced the priest as he raised his hands in a T pose as he expected himself to look like a holy man but he instead looked like a lunatic and zealot.
"Why do all monsters,demons and quasi-humanoids need to be exterminated and why are dragons and dragonkin the sole exception to this rule?."Orion was immensely curious about the religion of this world but now he could see why the goblins wanted to destroy all traces of the light.
"All the other races aside from humans and dragons are seen as impure by the light and are dangerous to the pure races.As for demons the reason for wanting to exterminate them is obvious for they are demons.I don't know why you would try to ask about demons.Perhaps you need to be questioned.As for the dragons and dragonkin they were created to guide and protect the human race even on this large island of ours.Perhaps the reason why we haven't seen the young dragon Feralas for some time is because Ring City has moved away from the grace of the light.Yes once we become faithful once more he shall return to aid us in these troubling times.Now hand over that goblin."the priest reached his hand out and gestured for Orion to give him the net.
"On behalf of the mages guild of Ring City I refuse.This goblin is required for research and solutions so do forgive me as I bring it back to Archmage and royal guard captain Mandar Schion."Orions defence rested on the influence of the mages guild.
"You mean the man who performs morally questionable experiments.The man who apparently experiments on human life.The man who commits blasphemy against the light on a daily basis.Yeah we refuse to let the goblin go now hand it over."The priest now appeared to be even more determined to kill the goblin.
"What if I refuse?."
"We'll just take it by force."
"You honestly think you can."Orion was now furious as he looked at the insolent priests and paladins who now looked angrily at him.
A paladin proceeded to try and grab Orions enchanted net by force but he was met with resistance.Orion had sent an uppercut to the paladins jaw and sent him flying at the high ceiling.The paladins head broke through the ceiling and his body remained stuck there.The other paladins and priests looked up at his lower body hanging below the roof.
The paladins and priests immediately looked towards Orion and backed off.They could feel his powerful aura but never believed he had the gall to act against them.They were holy men and women of the light after all.Until the light and light lords abandoned Fritzia a few years ago no one dared to act against the church of the light.Things were different now and they just now realised it.
"Hangerlain Shepherd will hear about this.I'll make sure your treated as a warlock or a necromancer.You'll be burned at the stake for this heresy."the leading priest yelled at them as Orion and the adventurers left the church with the goblin in tow.
As Orion and the adventurers left the vicinity of the church Ruth immediately warned Orion.
"Say Valdel I get that they made you angry but they were just doing their jobs.On top of that you may have made a powerful enemy out of the church of the light today.I also advise you to be careful around Mandar Schion.He simply isn't a good person and there are a lot of rumours about him performing experiments on an unfortunate soul.Just be careful from now on."Ruth was worried about Orion ad they had gone through a life and death situation together.
"Don't worry I'll be fine."Orion said as he headed home with the net and captured chef goblin.
