Once all the necromancers and undead outside the castle were dead.Kerry the Slicer,Derris Novero and Terry Orgoo unanimously agreed to continue into the castle with all due haste.
The royal guards immediately opened the door to the castle and tried to head inside only to be hit by a spell bombardment by the necromancers and undead inside.The necromancers and undead had heard the sounds of death coming from outside and did their best to prepare as quickly as possible.
Most of them had gotten into a magical formation made up of the necromancers themselves.Magical formations could be performed by large groups of mages in order to boost casting speed or increase the strengh of their spells.
They could also use magical formations to perform large scale spells and rituals or combine their mana pool to make the effects of a spell or ritual more powerful then if they were casting it without being part of a group.They were commonly used in battlefields.The only requirement being that everyone in the formation needs to possess the same element.
Simply put if a group of holy light element mages came together with a darkness element mage to get into a magic formation the magic formation wouldn't really work as the darkness element mage would need the light element in order to help the light mages with the magic formation.
The necromancers were currently using a magic formation that enabled them to combine their mana pool and cast mob tier group spells of the darkness element.The particular mob tier group spell they wanted to perform was called darkness kamikaze wrym.
The soldiers who had entered the castle realised what they were trying to do and cast spells in order to try and interrupt their spell casting and magic formation.The spells landed on the necromancers in the magic formation they didn't even care about the free roaming necromancers and undead they wanted to stop the magic formation immediately.
The spells didn't have much effect however as the necromancers had reinforced their bodies with dark magic.Now reinforcing ones body with different types of magic has different effects.
Reinforcing ones body with ice magic allows one to lower the temperature of the environment and increase their physical abilities.It did however come at the cost that ice mages had to make sure their body temperature didn't fall too low as it would kill them.Undead didn't have this limitation however there was still the danger of freezing themselves solid.
Reinforcing ones body with darkness element magic was different as it drastically increased strengh and durability at the cost of some speed.It also came with the effect of dulling the pain receptors severely.The danger of reinforcing ones body with darkness magic was that it would twist the body into a darker form.
Now that the necromancers had the protection of the magic formation and access to a far larger pool of mana it allowed them to surpass their regular limits.Their durability and strengh was far better enhanced then normal and their ability to feel pain was even further reduced then normal.
The downside was that there were side effects in wielding such a large amount of darkness element mana.Some had their nails turn into claws.Others began to grow dark scales or their skin grew tougher and rougher and others began to grow small horns.
The necromancers in the magic formation didn't care about the changes to their bodies or the spells they were being hit with.They didn't even care when they lost fingers or entire limbs which was caused by the royal guards putting more strengh into their spells.
Kerry the Slicer,Derris Novero and Terry Orgoo noticed that the royal guards were being held up for some reason.They were behind everyone in the battlefield but a sinking feeling fell into their guts when they realised they should probably get involved.
All of a sudden an explosion resounded at the entrance of the castle and a massive wrym made of darkness made itself visible.The sheer sight of it caused everyone to retreat in all directions for a bit to avoid the massive wrym.They all launched spells to attack it from the distance.
It became clear to the royal guard captains that the necromancers had summoned a large darkness wrym.The wrym resembled a long serpent combined with a worm.It had sleek dark scales along its body that seemed to absorb light and release darkness.It had a large gaping maw full of rotating rows of dagger like teeth.There were spines and spikes running along its body.Most importantly however it had an aura of a beast at the low A class.
Kerry the Slicer,Derris Novero and Terry Orgoo immediately realised they had to take care of this.Blood fist came to Kerry asking for orders which Kerry gave immediately.
"We'll deal with the darkness wrym you lot will stop that magic formation."Kerry the Slicer ordered.
