Chapter 248: Boss Qi's Product Promotion

The process of making roasted meat buns turned out to be just as simple as Qi Han had anticipated.

After experimenting for a while, Qi Han quickly mastered the trick to fermenting dough. Once he figured out the ratio of yeast to use and the optimal fermentation time, making buns that matched the softness of the original version was no longer a challenge.

As for the roasted meat, with Qi Han's expert-level mastery of cooking techniques, it wasn't difficult either.

However, despite this, when Qi Han finally finished making a batch of roasted meat buns that he believed to be identical to the original, and confidently took a bite, he fell silent.

The stark difference that greeted him upon tasting made Qi Han question everything.

It wasn't that the buns weren't delicious—they were too delicious.

It wasn't narcissism; it was the truth.

The roasted meat buns he held in his hand, despite using the same ingredients and similar techniques, were far superior to the version he had aimed to replicate.

But what Qi Han wanted was the flavor from his memories—an exact match, not a gourmet upgrade.

This raised a puzzling issue.

Qi Han had extensive experience in making food taste better, but when it came to intentionally making food taste less good, he was at a complete loss.

What was this supposed to be?

"It's the ingredients," a voice suddenly interrupted his thoughts.

The speaker was Master Tan Yuzhi, who had been silently observing Qi Han's efforts the whole time.

Hearing this, Qi Han turned his head to look at the master and asked, "Senior, I used the same ingredients, right? Just flour, Honey Badger hind leg…"

He trailed off mid-sentence and abruptly looked down at the roasted meat bun in his hand.

The final taste of a dish depended not only on the chef's methods but also on another critical factor: the ingredients themselves!

The flour Qi Han had used was made from wheat that had been crossbred and cultivated with spiritual spring water by Ru Yi.

The Honey Badger was also raised by Ru Yi with meticulous care, scientifically fed with the best-suited feed mix for Honey Badgers.

Both of these ingredients were fundamentally different in taste from the varieties found on Douluo Continent!

With the meat and flour—the two primary components—being so vastly different, how could the result possibly be identical to the roasted meat buns in Feng Yi's memory?

Qi Han shook his head with a wry smile. Had he wasted all that effort for nothing?

No, not quite…

At the very least, Qi Han had now mastered the technique for making roasted meat buns. He just needed to experiment with different ingredients.

With this thought, Qi Han respectfully bowed to Master Tan Yuzhi. "Thank you for your guidance, Senior. I understand now. I'll come back another time to seek your advice on the technique for making jade dragon tendons."

With that, Qi Han disappeared from the training space in a flash.

The ingredients provided by Ru Yi were top-notch, designed to meet the highest standards. If he wanted to recreate the roasted meat buns he remembered, he couldn't use those ingredients.

He needed to buy them himself.

Fortunately, in Shrek City, the largest city on the continent, it was possible to find almost anything.

For example, Honey Badgers from the Kalei Forest region were quite popular here as well.

If live animals could be delivered, flour and other non-perishable items would be even easier to obtain.

After freshening up and dressing neatly, Qi Han picked up his clingy cat, Pururu, and stepped out of the shop, heading down a nearby street.

Next to the food street was a large market.

Since the countless vendors in the food street relied on the market for their supplies, this layout was particularly convenient.

By now, Qi Han had become a familiar face to many in Shrek City.

The moment he entered the bustling market with his cat in tow, the large, noisy space suddenly fell silent.

This incredible owner of the Small Shop restaurant had never once been seen shopping at the market.

As a result, many people speculated that Small Shop had a fully self-sufficient supply chain for ingredients, able to operate independently.

But now, Qi Han has made a rare appearance in the market?

For a moment, the customers shopping for groceries and the vendors selling their wares all wore expressions of curiosity and surprise.

Qi Han, however, was entirely unaware of the stir he caused.

He glanced around at the unusually quiet atmosphere and couldn't help but praise it.

"As expected of the largest market in the largest city on the continent. Not only is the variety of ingredients abundant, but even the orderliness is remarkable. Not a hint of noise!"

Qi Han had a clear purpose in mind, so he didn't waste time wandering through the vast market. After scanning the area briefly, he quickly walked over to a row of stalls specializing in selling Honey Badgers.

His sharp gaze moved slowly over the butchered and sectioned Honey Badgers on display, finally settling on one. "How much for the hind leg of this Honey Badger?"

Qi Han's full attention was on the Honey Badger before him. He didn't notice that as soon as he asked his question, the other customers nearby exchanged glances and then quickly lined up behind him.

This was the Honey Badger chosen by Boss Qi!

In their minds, this was undoubtedly the best Honey Badger available at the market.

Buying it couldn't go wrong!

Unintentionally, Qi Han had become a product promoter.

"The... hind leg?" The vendor was initially surprised that the renowned Boss Qi would choose hind leg meat, but when he noticed the growing line behind Qi Han, his face lit up with joy. "It's my honor that Boss Qi chose one of my Honey Badgers. This hind leg is on the house!"

"That won't do." Qi Han frowned. He didn't appreciate receiving free things for no reason, especially from someone he had never met before. How could he accept such a favor casually?

"Boss Qi, I mean it sincerely. This hind leg is nothing much," the vendor replied, silently counting the number of customers now lining up behind Qi Han. He couldn't hide his delight.

So many people—they might clear out his entire stock of pigs!

Perhaps he could even raise the price a little? After all, if Boss Qi selected his Honey Badgers, they must be exceptional.

Right?

With a soft sigh, Qi Han saw how insistent the vendor was. He picked up the Honey Badger's hind leg, estimated its weight, glanced at the price tag, and quickly calculated the cost. He then took out a silver coin and two copper coins, placed them on the vendor's counter, and turned to leave.

After all, you don't bring gold coins to a market.

That would be like taking a stack of hundred-dollar bills to buy groceries—people would probably curse at you.

As Qi Han turned away, he paused slightly.

So many people in line?

Well, this vendor's Honey Badgers were indeed better than the others'. Their brisk business was likely due to that reason.

He gave the onlookers a polite nod and walked off.

Little did he realize, the moment he left, a swarm of customers descended on the vendor.

"Boss! I'll take two pounds of pig head meat!"

"I want three pounds of front leg meat!"

"..."

"Don't rush, folks!" The vendor was grinning so broadly it seemed his face might split. Leisurely, he adjusted the price board hanging above his stall in front of everyone. "With such high demand, I'll have to raise the price a bit!"

"You crook!"

The customers cursed inwardly, but the vendor clearly knew his limits. He only raised the price by 5%, keeping it within a tolerable range.

Though grumbling under their breath, the customers moved quickly, each one grabbing what they wanted. Within minutes, the vendor's stock of three Honey Badgers was completely sold out.
