Chapter 190 - Chapter 189: Nine Dishes

Just as the Qing Dynasty Blessed Pork Meat had begun, no matter how eager Qi Han was, he couldn't yet start training with the Wensi Tofu.

Taking a deep breath, Qi Han proceeded to draw from the randomly dropped recipes.

There were six random recipes in total. 

Qi Han closed his eyes and drew them all in one go.

2 Star recipe: Dragon Well Tea Shrimp (龙井虾仁)

2 Star recipe: Squirrel-Shaped Mandarin Fish (松鼠鳜鱼)

2 Star recipe: Fish-flavored Shredded Pork (鱼香肉丝)

2 Star recipe: Swallow-Skin Dumplings (燕皮扁食)

2 Star recipe: Spicy Fish Head with Chopped Peppers (剁椒鱼头)

Six consecutive 2 Star recipes proved Qi Han to be the unluckiest of the unluckiest.

"Host, maybe you should do some luck gathering ritual before drawing next time?" suggested Ru Yi, tilting her head.

Qi Han pondered for a moment and agreed.

Though disappointed about not drawing a 3 Star or higher recipe, the six 2 Star recipes this time were actually quite good.

Bodhi Vegetarian Dish: This could be considered a luxurious upgrade plus version of Egg Fried Rice. 

As the top-tier vegetarian dish, its history is quite tumultuous and was nearly lost at one point. 

Although it's another type of fried rice, Bodhi Vegetarian Dish looks cleaner than Egg Fried Rice. 

It appears as a plate of distinct white rice grains, yet you can clearly smell the rich fragrance of eggs and meat in it. It looks plain but tastes flavorful.

Dragon Well Tea Shrimp: A famous dish from Jiangsu and Zhejiang regions. 

The shrimp is jade white and tender; the tea buds are green and fragrant. 

Its elegant color and unique taste make it a culinary delight, known for its refreshing and appetizing flavor. 

The cuisine in this region features many intricate seafood and river dishes, just like the previously mentioned Crab Stuffed Oranges.

Squirrel-Shaped Mandarin Fish and Spicy Fish Head with Chopped Peppers: The former is a Suzhou dish, while the latter is Hunanese. 

Both use fish as the main ingredient but complement each other perfectly. 

Squirrel-Shaped Mandarin Fish mainly features the body, crafted to look like pine cones, with a sweet and sour taste, crispy outside and tender inside. 

Spicy Fish Head with Chopped Peppers focuses on the head, with a spicy and fresh flavor that makes one exclaim with delight. 

The fiery chopped peppers and tender fish head meat create a perfect combination, offering a different yet equally splendid culinary experience.

Fish-flavored Shredded Pork: Unlike the previous two dishes, this one is more unique. 

Despite having "fish" in its name, it contains no fish. 

The "fish flavor" in Sichuan cuisine is an important flavor profile, created with pickled chili, Sichuan salt, soy sauce, sugar, minced ginger, garlic, and scallions. 

This seasoning mimics the condiments used in traditional Sichuan fish dishes, giving it the name "fish flavor," characterized by a salty, sweet, sour, spicy, fresh, and aromatic taste. 

Many people mistakenly think the dish has the flavor of fish, which is a misinterpretation.

Swallow-Skin Dumplings: This dish is equally fascinating. 

The term "Swallow-Skin Dumplings" refers to a type of wonton in some regions of China. 

Lean meat is pounded thousands of times to create "swallow skin," as thin as paper, used to wrap the meat filling, forming "meat wontons." 

Therefore, it can be considered both a staple food and a meat dish. 

This dish is quite labor-intensive for chefs, similar to the "Triple No-Stick" dessert. 

However, for Qi Han, who already has level 30 spirit power, making a mere Swallow-Skin Dumpling is no problem.

These six 2 Star recipes, along with the 3 Star recipe Wensi Tofu, and the Qing Dynasty Blessed Pork Meat still in training, make up all the recipes Qi Han has yet to learn. 

Additionally, there's the 3 Star recipe reward from the Time-limited Quest: Jade Dragon Tendon.

A total of nine dishes.

The Main Quest always offers the most generous rewards. 

Qi Han now almost felt like he had struck it rich overnight. 

After receiving the Quest rewards, Qi Han quickly got up to wash and entered the system space.

With so many recipes waiting, the speed of Qing Dynasty Blessed Pork Meat had to be quickened.

When Qi Han emerged from the training space, the sun was already high in the sky, nearly time for the noon opening.

After another round of rigorous training in the training space, Qi Han had thoroughly completed the first step of the Qing Dynasty Blessed Pork Meat and had also mastered most of the second step.

Carrying Pururu, Qi Han went downstairs and opened the shop door, allowing the Qin sisters, who had been waiting at the entrance, to come in. 

He also greeted Tang Qianqiu, who was at the front of the line.

Once inside the shop, the Qin sisters ordered their usual dishes. 

Qi Han, however, did not head into the kitchen immediately as usual.

"Qin Yao, would you like to learn cooking from me? I won't be staying in Star Luo City for long. Once you've learned how to cook, I will leave this shop for you and Qin Yue to manage."

Qi Han's sudden proposition left both sisters momentarily stunned and unable to respond.

"Boss, are you leaving Star Luo City?" Qin Yao blinked, somewhat confused.

The restaurant's business is doing so well; why would he leave?

"Not right away. Well... actually, I do have to go out tomorrow," Qi Han scratched his head. "I'll be away tomorrow, and the shop will be closed for two days. When I return, I'll stay in Star Luo City for a while longer, but I won't be here forever."

Seeing the girls' thoughtful expressions, Qi Han continued, "So, I'm planning to teach you, Qin Yao, how to make hot pot base and handle the ingredients. Learning other dishes might take a long time, but this is relatively easier. And once you master hot pot, you can keep the shop running."

Qin Yao, being smart, quickly understood the implications. 

After pondering for a moment, she nodded slowly. "Boss, I am willing to learn how to make hot pot from you."

Qi Han smiled slightly.

"There's no rush. We'll start the lessons after I return. In the meantime, you can practice your knife skills at home."

Recalling his own arduous training experiences, Qi Han smiled. "You can buy some radishes and practice slicing them into thin, even pieces. The thinner and more uniform, the better."

"Okay." Qin Yao nodded, keeping Qi Han's words in mind, planning to start practicing in the afternoon.

"I'll go make your hot pot now," Qi Han said, turning to head to the kitchen.

"Um..." Qin Yao hesitated, "Boss, can I watch while you cook? Since I'll be learning it soon."

Qi Han patted his head, realizing he almost forgot. "You can come in and watch."

After a pause, he added, "Qin Yue, you can join too. Both of you can learn."

"Thank you, Boss!" Qin Yue, who had been standing quietly with a somewhat gloomy expression, suddenly brightened up and looked up excitedly.

I'm not dumber than my sister! The boss said I could learn too!
