At dawn, as the sun barely rose from the distant horizon, a faint golden light silently illuminated everything. In this bright and beautiful weather, a richly dressed nobleman sat by his private fish pond early in the morning, leisurely fishing. Suddenly, as if seeing something, the noble's pupils trembled.
The calm surface of the fish pond began to ripple spontaneously, forming wave after wave of radiating patterns, creating a strange, projected image accompanied by the sound of flowing water.
"The drawing of lots back then was unfair. Grandmother Gaia favored me and secretly helped me, allowing me to become the God-King without any surprises."
In the image, within a grand and towering golden palace, a majestic and heroic deity spoke these words. Opposite him stood another deity of similar appearance and stature.
"What is this scene?"
"The figures in the image are..."
"Gasp... The King of the Gods and the God of Gods."
The King of the Gods undoubtedly referred to God-King Zeus. As for the God of Gods, it was a reverent title for Poseidon, the Sea God. Due to Poseidon's strength and brutal nature, even other deities feared and revered him, earning him the title God of Gods.
Thump, thump, thump... Realizing the identities of the two deities in the image and listening closely to their conversation, the noble's heart pounded wildly. He sensed that a great change was coming.
The same scene unfolded elsewhere. In wine glasses at banquets, in irrigation channels by rice fields, in the moats by city walls, in flowing streams, and even in vast oceans. Everywhere water existed, regardless of its size, reflections showed the conversation between God-King Zeus and Sea God Poseidon.
At this moment, countless beings across the Olympian multiverse realized one thing: Zeus, the third-generation Olympian God-King, had gained his position through cheating.
"I am Poseidon, the Sea God. Everything you see comes from my memories."
"To secure his unjustly acquired position, Zeus secretly plotted against Hades and Athena, framing his brother and offspring."
The image flickered, showing the angry and unwilling face of Hades, suppressed beneath Mount Olympus, and the despondent, self-sealed Athena.
"A god who is brutal, suspicious, and self-willed does not deserve to be God-King! All the disasters and sufferings in the Olympian multiverse stem from Zeus!"
"God-King? No, he is a demon king!"
"Though I have no intention of competing, I know the sufferings of the people."
"For a better future for the Olympian multiverse, even if it means my divine essence shattering, severe injuries, or eternal damnation, I, Poseidon, will expose the vile nature of Zeus and make him pay for his actions!"
The final image was of the tall and dignified Sea God Poseidon, clad in resplendent golden armor, holding a trident, and standing amidst a vast stormy sea.
Clearly, all the water reflections were the work of the Sea God.
For a moment, all beings were in an uproar, with countless reactions and varied attitudes. Even the gods within and outside Olympus Heaven knew about this major event, the scandal among the gods. Unlike the noisy and agitated mortals, the gods remained silent, but their flickering eyes revealed their active minds.
Thoughts raced through the minds of the gods.
"Poseidon is directly challenging Zeus... If Zeus did cheat during the lot-drawing, Poseidon's resentment is understandable."
The gods believed that the truth Poseidon revealed was likely genuine.
"Is this good or bad?"
"Zeus is too suspicious. Any slightly powerful being arouses his fear. Even those who stay out of trouble cannot avoid disaster. Though Poseidon is also not easy to deal with, he has fewer scandals compared to Zeus... It would be best if they both suffer."
Meanwhile, dark clouds rolled, storms howled, and torrential rain poured over the Aegean Sea. Under the almost fused sky and raging sea, the Sea God Poseidon, with a stern gaze, carried his trident on his back. As he stomped heavily, space cracked like a mirror, spreading densely webbed fissures, which then shattered along the cracks.
The space barrier broke, revealing the radiant, palace-filled, dreamlike Olympus Heaven.
The fierce Sea God intended to storm the heavens and confront God-King Zeus directly.
However, before Poseidon could step into Olympus Heaven, the sea below suddenly rose uncontrollably, forming a head the size of a hill, composed of seawater. The water shaped a gentle and beautiful face, creating her features and hair. As the Sea God looked down, a pair of ancient, watery eyes, seemingly full of age-old wisdom, met his gaze.
The Mother of the Gods, Gaia, appeared before the Sea God.
"Poseidon, return to the depths of your ocean. Do not go to Olympus Heaven."
"The conflict between you and Zeus has already tarnished the dignity of the gods and may lead to widespread destruction and instability in Olympus."
Upon her appearance, Gaia advised Poseidon not to oppose the God-King. If Poseidon refrained from escalating the situation, Zeus might find ways to gradually mitigate the impact of the earlier water images.
...She hasn't seen through my true identity. Gaia, the Mother of the Gods, though called a deity, is more like a destructive force, influencing the development of the Olympian multiverse but lacking formidable combat power. Many of the troubles in the Olympian multiverse originate from Gaia. Even the monstrous Typhon was her creation. The gods respect her but are also discontent with her. Deep down, they have many grievances. I can tear apart my facade as the Sea God and confront her... Garon thought.
Meanwhile, the Sea God squinted slightly, speaking in a low voice, "Why do you favor Zeus?"
"After we defeated the Titans, you said to preserve our brotherhood by drawing lots fairly and impartially to decide the God-King. But you secretly helped Zeus become the God-King."
"Gaia, I need a reasonable explanation. The gods, deceived for millennia, and all beings in the Olympian multiverse need an explanation."
Without any honorifics, the Sea God addressed her by name.
Feeling disrespected, Gaia frowned slightly but restrained herself, avoiding a direct answer. She said, "Poseidon, it was Zeus who saved you and your siblings from the second-generation Titan King's belly and led the gods to defeat the Titans. It's reasonable for him to be the God-King."
Poseidon's face remained indifferent, his voice calm, "If that's the case, if Zeus's kingship was justified, why did you propose drawing lots fairly and impartially to decide the gods' powers instead of letting the gods freely elect?"
Hearing the Sea God's question, Gaia fell silent.
"Gaia, since you're not speaking, let me explain for you."
"You favored Zeus while ignoring other deities. But you knew that based on his merits, his ability, and his vile nature, Zeus would not be elected as God-King without resistance. So, you came up with the ostensibly fair lot-drawing but secretly helped Zeus."
"But why did you favor Zeus? Is it because he resembles Cronus and Uranus, the tyrant god-kings of the previous generations? Do you inherently prefer tyrants?"
"Haha, in the Olympian multiverse, three generations of gods and god-kings all experienced violent power transitions. Each god-king was a tyrant. Gaia, did this originate from you?"
With a hint of sarcasm in his tone, the Sea God's relentless questioning echoed like thunder amidst the growing storm.
Faced with reprimand from her descendant, Gaia's expression changed, anger coloring her voice as she said, "Poseidon, you are one of the twelve Olympian gods, but now, to achieve your ambitions, you disregard Olympus's stability and seek the God-King's position."
"I won't allow such a thing to happen."
From beginning to end, Gaia did not directly answer the Sea God's questions.
Rumble! The dark clouds rumbled with thunder, the oppressive atmosphere growing thicker.
The Sea God's expression remained impassive as he looked down at Gaia.
He spoke coldly, "You won't allow it? Who do you think you are?"
The sea boiled like water, storms capable of toppling cities and forests surged continuously. The Sea God's cold, icy words, mixed with the sound of the storm and waves, overshadowed them, each word resounding, shocking all the gods listening to the conversation between the Sea God and Gaia.
"You! Poseidon!"
Gaia's voice trembled with anger.
As one of the oldest primordial gods, the source of many deities, she did not expect that the Sea God, also born of her, would dare to speak to her like this. This was no longer a matter of disrespect but outright contempt and provocation. His superior attitude, scornful gaze, and words made Gaia's heart burn with anger.
"I, Poseidon, am a god, the ruler of countless oceans and waters, worshipped by billions of beings."
The torrential rain poured down, each drop splitting before touching the Sea God and rejoining at his feet, seemingly alive, not daring to offend the king of the sea.
"And you, Gaia, the gods call you the Mother of the Gods out of respect. Without that, what are you? What can you do to me?"
The Sea God laughed wildly, fully displaying his arrogance.
"Poseidon, with your arrogance, the gods will no longer tolerate you. You are unfit to hold a position among the twelve Olympian gods."
Gaia spoke with anger.
"Whether I'm fit or not is not for you
to decide."
"Among the gods who fought alongside me, who would want to be my enemy except Zeus?"
The Sea God roared to the sky, with endless seawater surging as if to drown the heavens.
Apart from the terrifying lightning flashing oppressively in the sky, the gods remained silent.
The Mother of the Gods?
Poseidon's words resonated with the gods.
Gaia, claiming ancient status, had committed countless detestable acts. Dissatisfied with the gods imprisoning the Titans in Tartarus, she created the monster Typhon to attack Mount Olympus, causing injuries to many gods.
Who knows if she might create more monsters to trouble the gods in the future?
It was Gaia who led the gods to overthrow the Titans. But when the Titans were defeated and imprisoned, Gaia caused trouble.
She called for a fair election of the God-King, but secretly manipulated the process.
If not for her unique status, Gaia would have been torn apart by the gods long ago.
"Poseidon, I shouldn't have stopped Zeus. He was right; you are a malevolent god who brings disaster to the Olympian multiverse. You deserve to die."
Gaia's eyes burned with anger as she spoke.
"Still spreading lies."
The Sea God's gaze was like lightning, reprimanding Gaia while raising his right hand abruptly.
"Trident, come!"
Interwoven with blue and gold, the trident on the Sea God's back turned into a streak of golden-blue light, flashing into his right hand.
In the next moment, the Sea God held the trident high with both hands, his eyes reflecting Gaia's head formed of seawater, and struck fiercely.
Endless winds and rain moved with him, as if cleaved by an invisible blade, forming a long blank corridor in front of the trident. The sea, locked by the Sea God's power, split open, like cutting through a deep blue canvas.
The vast sea trench slowly closed, but the disturbance didn't cease.
More and more water heads emerged, forming countless Gaia heads, densely packed, looking neither dignified nor terrifying.
These heads spoke in unison, their faces filled with anger, as if to say something.
But before they could utter a word.
The Sea God's cold gaze and the storm-and-wave-made cloak fluttered high.
Sea God's Authority: Ocean Sovereign!
The Sea God opened and clenched his hand. Simultaneously, as the Sea God moved, endless seawater surged, forming giant hands that grabbed and crushed Gaia's heads mercilessly.
The part of Gaia's consciousness within the sea was shattered and extinguished.
Unyielding, Gaia's consciousness began to reassemble in the ocean.
At this moment, the Sea God spoke calmly, like the sea before a storm, "Gaia, if you insist on opposing me, I assure you, I will spare no cost to shatter all your consciousness. Gods are eternal and undying, but will your re-emerging consciousness still be you?"
In the Sea God's calm words, Gaia felt a hidden, terrifying threat, and her heart trembled involuntarily.
"Poseidon truly intends to kill me... he's ruthless."
Already indecisive, Gaia was frightened and silently withdrew.
Gaia could birth fearsome offspring under the right conditions, but she was not powerful herself.
Meanwhile, Poseidon raised his head, his stormy blue eyes looking directly at the sky, his pupils like oceanic gems reflecting the sky, almost turning into a sea of thunder.
In the sky filled with rolling thunder, a pair of lightning eyes gazed coldly at Poseidon.
