It was a stormy night at the Stone manor, the wind howling resembled ghosts who couldn't bid a proper farewell to the world and continued to cry out for mercy to the afterlife. The halls were quiet, almost everyone seemed to be asleep.
Little Jasper at the age of ten had only been here with his mother and younger sister for a week, and the stormy night had frightened him enough to go and search for his mother. He still wasn't used to the layout so he easily got lost, he could have called for a maid but he doubted they'd take his to his mother's room.
He wandered through the empty halls, avoiding everyone he saw so as not to get in trouble. After what felt like forever, he finally made it to his mother's room. He could tell from the voices he heard inside.
He moved closer wanting to open the door, but his hands stopped mid air at the mention of his name.
