Chapter 118 - OP Skill

Point out any errors I made in the chapters, as I'm very lazy and sometimes can't be bothered to reread them. Also, give your opinions on something I should change or add.

Note: Sorry for the long break and somewhat boring chapter. Good news, exams are over and now I'll have some free time(hopefully). So I'll try to make up for the lost time and post more chapters soon.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Complete darkness enveloped Feng, and he could no longer see or feel anything, creating a terrifying experience. A System Panel displaying his Ye Feng character appeared before him, but was erased a moment later, leaving a blank panel.

"Is my luck really so shit that I'd get that damned thing." Rubbing the bridge of his nose while cursing at his horrible luck, the green glow disappeared from Feng's eyes as he gazed at the over one hundred golden orbs that floated in front of him, unopened.

Feng had gained a newfound appreciation for Precursor's Glimpse.

When this Legendary Shrine and its Swift Fortuitous Death challenge were first discovered in the previous timeline, no information was known about it.

The first player that entered it was a pioneer who was a bit behind other experts in challenging Legendary Shrines, only arriving to the region once nearly all the treasures in the Main Legendary Shrine had already been claimed aside from the World Summit Trial since everybody had rushed to the topmost Shrine, assuming that it had the best items.

Deciding that going there and choosing from the leftovers was not worth his one opportunity to enter the best Shrines that all possessed incredibly valuable treasures, the player took a massive gamble and chose to enter the second-highest Legendary Shrine that was closest to the peak after the Main Legendary Shrine even though no one had ever visited it yet.

After all, their one chance to enter a Legendary Shrine was far too precious to be spent recklessly, so a large majority of players either hesitated to choose a Shrine or straight up avoid any Shrines that other players had not gone in and tried out, since apart from possessing great rewards, many Inferior Legendary and Legendary Shrines also have various devastating penalties for failing.

Weaker players could thus easily find themselves losing much more than they had gained in higher-ranking Shrines.

The player who entered the Swift Fortuitous Death Shrine chose to risk it anyway despite not possessing amazing strength, hoping to strike it big and increase his strength in the unexplored second-highest Shrine.

Surprisingly enough, it actually paid out fairly well for him.

Due to him not knowing anything about the Swift Fortuitous Death challenge or how it works and there being no exact explanation except the system notification once you cross the starting line, as well as the players lacking strength, he didn't manage to obtain many Jinxed Orbs while getting chased around by Tier 6 Swift Demon Mantises, only grabbing the four closest ones before running out of time.

Realizing that the challenge was over, the player returned to the starting island and opened his four orbs, managing to obtain a Legendary item, a Divine Artifact ranked Consumable, and a blessing that increased his Strength for fifty days, while only triggering one curse that decreased his Physique by one rank for a month.

Overall, the player had been incredibly lucky to get three decently good results and one minor bad one out of four Jinxed Orbs, making it a very profitable endeavor.

Upon leaving the Legendary Shrine, that player earned even more profits by selling information about the unexplored Shrine to various guilds and experts.

Naturally, after hearing how incredible the Swift Fortuitous Death Shrine was and the details of what that player had obtained by simply trying out the challenge within it, all the players who were wondering if they should try their luck at the World Summit Trial or some other Legendary Shrine swarmed to it.

Although the first player had triggered a curse that decreased his combat power by a bit, it was only a temporary one and not anything too crippling, so even if there were worse results for opening the Jinxed Orbs than that, it would definitely be worth it for all the potential treasures they could obtain.

Any expert would be willing to take that chance as any other endeavor in God's Domain had its risks as well, this world being one of high risk, high reward, so hundreds of players suddenly went into the Swift Fortuitous Death Shrine and challenged it.

Competition became incredibly intense since there was no limit to how many players could enter the Shrine and take on the Swift Fortuitous Death challenge at the same time, with everybody racing to collect as many Jinxed Orbs as they could and earn a fortune.

Meanwhile, the challenge functioned the same regardless of how many people there were, with each player being chased by Swift Demon Mantises.

Everyone would be attacked by the same number of mantises, the only difference being in the Swift Demon Mantises' level that depended on their challenger, with a mantis being added to everybody's swarm for every Jinxed Orb that gets collected.

Hence, when hundreds of players had entered the challenge at once and began picking up hundreds of the orbs, there were tens of thousands of Swift Demon Mantises flying around within the Legendary Shrine's challenge area; with hundreds emerging from the demonic gate whenever any player grabbed another Jinxed Orb.

Such a huge number of Tier 6 creatures could only result in an enormous ruckus, making the situation quite chaotic.

Of course, the Swift Demon Mantises don't just randomly fly around and attack. All of them have their designated target which they chase as their main purpose, and whenever their target dies or completes the challenge, all the mantises summoned for that player would be forced back into the gate.

But if other players attack the Demonic Creatures or get in their way, the mantises would not hesitate to temporarily switch targets and attack every other challenger interfering with them.

Many players thus used the Swift Demon Mantises as a type of weapon against other challengers and treated their competitors as scapegoats, leading their own mantises over to other players and trying to make the ones chasing them go after other challengers in order to decrease the pressure on themselves while simultaneously placing more pursuers on competitors.

Enemies were made each second as players attempted to get more profits while fucking over others, resulting in many conflicts.

Furthermore, even though combat was banned on the starting island, there was no such rule once a player began the Swift Fortuitous Death challenge.

Since they were all competing for the treasures, unless players were in the same group and actively allied with each other, it was usually on sight whenever players came across each other.

This was especially so if someone had already picked up a large number of Jinxed Orbs. Aside from reducing the competition and obtaining more orbs for themselves by killing others, although it wasn't possible to directly loot the Jinxed Orbs from players' bags upon eliminating them, the orbs someone had picked up would disappear from their bag and randomly appear somewhere within the challenge area upon death.

Anyone drawing attention to themselves by grabbing too many Jinxed Orbs would immediately be targeted by everyone regardless of their strength by either straight-up attacking the player or just trying to throw their Swift Demon Mantises onto them.

Countless battles began breaking out within the Legendary Shrine, and even miniature guild wars happened, all for the sake of gaining as many Jinxed Orbs as they could. When the hundreds of Tier 6 top-tier experts fought, it resulted in massive chaos all across.

However, the players soon gained a larger problem. The Swift Demon Mantises had gotten too strong and far too numerous.

Every time any player picked up a Jinxed Orb, their attributes were increased by 1%, and a new mantis was added for each player. This number never goes down even if a player was killed or leaves the challenge, with only the Demonic Creatures chasing that player returning to the gate.

Jinxed Orbs were constantly getting picked up and dropped, causing the mantises' strength and number to repeatedly increase in quick succession. By the time the various players took notice of this problem, the Swift Demon Mantises' attributes had risen by dozens of times, and each player was getting chased by more than a thousand mantises.

In total, there had been nearly one million Tier 6 creatures flying around, each mantis having attributes of a genuine Tier 6 God.

It quickly became too much for even the guilds' various experts to handle, falling into a similar situation that Feng had just been in, and most of them were forced to retreat back to the starting island.

Once all of them returned to safety and combat was no longer allowed, the players eagerly began opening their golden orbs, not worried that they'd lose them after learning from other players' attempts that it wasn't possible to steal or open someone else's Jinxed Orbs.

And that's when everyone realized it wasn't all sunshine and rainbows with these orbs.

One after the other, curses began being triggered, some light and temporary, while some permanent and crippling.

It came as a very unpleasant surprise to literally everyone since most people had gathered several Jinxed Orbs, with some of the stronger experts having collected dozens for themselves.

Those players that had triggered curses turned into a mix of anger and agony, whereas those who had yet to open a large number of theirs now looked at the golden orbs as if they were bombs, feeling that the shiny spheres could explode and kill them if they were unlucky while opening them.

There was still a large portion of players who chose to open their Jinxed Orbs after hesitating for a little bit, believing that those players had just been unfortunate, and that their luck would prevail.

The smarter ones, though, settled for a wait-and-see approach, not too keen on risking their accounts getting crippled.

It wasn't like their Jinxed Orbs were going to grow legs and run away, so they might as well let others test out how bad things could get before deciding if it was worth the risk to open more of them.

Cheers and wails echoed out on the starting island as players uncovered what lay within the Jinxed Orbs they had picked up, some gaining all kinds of treasures and blessings, whereas others got hit with curses that either made their life much more difficult or ruined it.

Multiple people suddenly died as well, making for a scene that buzzed with both extreme joy and unimaginable grief.

After things settled down, many players were left weeping, a large portion having no more tears to shed after getting fucked up by the Jinxed Orbs.

Even those that got good things weren't too thrilled about the final result.

Regardless of whether they had gotten multiple great Legendary items, all kinds of Consumables, valuable designs, Treasure Chests, blessings that upgraded their combat power, or even a Fragmented Divine Artifact, it was greatly offset by the misfortunes they had triggered.

It didn't feel good to lose so much even if they had overall profited from the unboxing, leaving the players indignant about the Shrine and challenge, especially if they had received something very bad that could not be fixed.

Only a minority of players who had originally obtained a small number of Jinxed Orbs were left satisfied, either emerging relatively unhampered by the curses they had received or not having gotten any bad things at all if they were lucky.

Seeing how the players who had chosen to open all their Jinxed Orbs fared, the experts with large amounts of the orbs who had been watching and analyzing the prospects made their decisions.

Most of them chose to give up on opening their Jinxed Orbs, settling for spending them in the vending machine since the items there were of significant value and quality as well.

A few of the experts, though, chose to try their luck despite seeing the results that had befallen the players before them, having their own various reasons for being willing to take the considerable risks.

Among them was a chosen young talent from one of the Greater God's Domain's Hegemonic Powers that was invading Feng's God's Domain.

She had been the player with the most Jinxed Orbs, her own great strength and that of the subordinates that had come along with her having allowed the foreign expert to mostly beat back the native powers and numerous Tier 6 Swift Demon Mantises while gathering the golden orbs, managing to accumulate around fifty Jinxed Orbs.

All eyes were on the girl as she began opening her Jinxed Orbs, the spectating players very curious about what she'd get and in what kind of state the otherworlder would end up in after opening so many of the cursed orbs.

Confident in herself due to possessing a remarkable Legendary item that greatly increased her Luck attribute, the player opened her orbs one after the other, gaining a variety of fortunes and misfortunes while gambling with her life in mass.

They were mostly good results, though, with the foreigner getting valuable items and blessings while receiving only some minor curses that didn't affect her too much. She even obtained a Divine Treasure Chest from one of the Jinxed Orbs, making everybody else turn green from envy.

None of them had gained anything close to the value of a Divine Treasure Chest which, going by the feeling they sensed from it and this place, was definitely at least on par with a Legendary Chest; and most likely even superior. It was only natural that everybody was pissed off and jealous of her when most of them had also suffered terrible repercussions for opening the orbs.

The players who had given up on unboxing their Jinxed Orbs and already spent them were especially feeling regretful after seeing all the things they could have acquired if they had chosen to open the golden menaces.

Though, that regret did not last for long, as after opening her 48th Jinxed Orb, the chosen talent received a Bye-bye.

Since anybody could see what a Jinxed Orb contained after it was opened, every player who witnessed the black fog envelop that girl as she disappeared immediately found out about the details of what she had triggered.

Shock spread throughout each of their minds. Even though there were multiple pretty devastating curses that could cripple an account among the ones they had seen today from the orbs, never would have anyone expected that there would be such a terrible misfortune in this Shrine.

Directly deleting someone's account without them even having a chance to resist or do anything about it was just too cruel!

Moreover, all the items she had gained from opening her previous Jinxed Orbs were immediately packed back up into golden spheres, disappearing a moment later, while the blessings she had triggered got erased alongside the girl's God's Domain account.

The players then felt quite relieved that they hadn't suffered the same fate, feeling that they weren't so unlucky after all.

News of the Legendary Shrine and all the things that had transpired in it spread like wildfire, shocking many upon hearing there was even such a thing on the World Summit, the possibility of getting their account crippled or maybe even deleted from just opening something terrifying many players who learned of the Swift Fortuitous Death Shrine.

Plenty of others, however, saw it as an incredible opportunity, resulting in more players swarming to the Legendary Shrine.

There wasn't as much influx and gain as before due to the Swift Demon Mantises having gotten very strong by that point, but over a sizeable period of time, more information on how the Swift Fortuitous Death challenge functioned was uncovered, and what one could gain from opening Jinxed Orbs was starting to get more widespread.

Players from all over began trying their luck at the Legendary Shrine as they prayed to get something good without losing their account or chances of making it big from the orbs' curses.

Many wavered under the immense danger of opening them, especially when more and more people triggered horrible curses that greatly weakened their power, killed them with various dire consequences, losing their accounts, and one person even triggering Goodbye, the worst misfortune of them all that forced the player to kiss his career and life goodbye after being permanently banned from logging into God's Domain.

But the thought of fortune propelled players to continue as more people obtained items of immense value, Fragmented Divine Artifacts, Legendary Treasure Chests, and loads of other immeasurably precious stuff. There was also the wish to get that Divine Treasure Chest that had been spotted before getting pulled back into a Jinxed Orb and disappearing.

People's greed and desires far outweighed their fear, leading to there being no shortage of players coming to the Swift Fortuitous Death Shrine and competing over Jinxed Orbs.

Gradually, a list was formed of the fortunes and misfortunes players had received.

People only stopped opening Jinxed Orbs once it was noticed that no one had gotten a good result in a while ever since the 200th fortune was added to the list, while the fact that there were 193 documented misfortunes and seven Jinxed Orbs remaining throughout the challenge area led everyone to believe that there were two hundred rewards and two hundred curses obtainable from the Swift Fortuitous Death challenge.

Zero Wing had naturally gotten a hold of this list as well in the previous timeline, so Feng knew everything about the Swift Fortuitous Death Shrine and the things one could obtain from the Jinxed Orbs.

Having later obtained the Manager Token and spoken to Serena during his previous life, Feng learned even more about the challenge, such as that the contents of the Jinxed Orbs were not random in the least and that each of them was set from the get-go, so no amount of Luck would give one a better chance at getting fortunes from the orbs.

Hence, despite the many incredible rewards he could get from opening the Jinxed Orbs, Feng originally never had any intention of challenging this Legendary Shrine.

Even if he only picked up one Jinxed Orb, there was no way Feng would be willing to open it when there was a 1.25% chance that he could lose his account from it.

It didn't matter how unlikely it was to happen or how much faith Feng had in his usual heaven-defying luck, Feng simply wouldn't take the risk. He couldn't afford to.

However, things changed once he obtained the Savitarian Carnation Bloodline and absorbed it.

With Precursor's Glimpse, Feng could see the future and know what would happen if he opened the Jinxed Orbs, so there was no more risk of him getting his account deleted, or even suffering from a single misfortune.

Unfortunately, although it would be very profitable for him to take on the Swift Fortuitous Death challenge and get many incredible treasures from it, with there even being two items that he really wanted from the Legendary Shrine even without considering the Legendary and Divine Treasure Chests, along with the rest of the potential goodies, it had still previously been impossible for him to go for it due to the Shrine limit.

Feng had to enter the Main Legendary Shrine to challenge the God Mode World Summit Trial while Black Flame already had another item that they couldn't miss out on to use up his one Legendary Shrine chance for.

Only after becoming a Vice Administrator of the World Summit did Feng finally entertain the thought of visiting the Swift Fortuitous Death Shrine for his second opportunity, ultimately deciding on it and to fully make the most of it with Precursor's Glimpse in order to get all the rewards and avoid any misfortunes that lay within the Jinxed Orbs he collects.

And that's exactly what Feng did, pushing himself to his absolute limit during the Swift Fortuitous Death challenge while escaping the Tier 6 Demonic Creatures' relentless claws.

After collecting 179 Jinxed Orbs and completing the challenge, Feng laid out all the golden orbs and placed himself in the position to begin opening them, before activating the future-seeing skill.

Through the incredible powers of Precursor's Glimpse, Feng witnessed himself opening all of the prepared Jinxed Orbs, allowing him to memorize what each orb held and know whether or not to open it later on.

Though, the plan was slightly interrupted by Feng triggering Bye-bye.

Even though he knew that there was a fairly decent chance that one of those five abominable misfortunes was among his Jinxed Orbs considering he had collected 179 of them, it still shook Feng to his very core to actually see himself get it and the sight of all his progress getting erased in an instant.

He was also very thankful for Precursor's Glimpse, gaining a newfound appreciation for the busted skill after knowing he could have easily lost it all if he had chosen to simply open the Jinxed Orbs.

It was a truly OP ability like Feng had never seen before for a skill that doesn't come from an item.

With it, one could achieve many impossible things, the power to see the future being an incomprehensibly useful ability as long as one utilized it properly even without taking into account its immense usefulness in combat.

The way it was currently being used the best example as something that would normally be a very dangerous gamble that you could lose your account over became an easy picking of amazing items for Feng.

For Feng now, though, it could no longer save his ass, as it was automatically canceled after his account in the future got deleted, while Precursor's Glimpse had a cooldown of 30 hours.

There were still over sixty Jinxed Orbs that Feng had no idea what was inside of, and after experiencing the horror of a Bye-bye for himself just now, there was even less of a chance Feng would open a single orb that he hasn't glimpsed into with Precursor's Glimpse.

Thankfully, he had a few solutions to that problem, and immediately decided to test one out.

Walking past the lined-up Jinxed Orbs, Feng arrived at the one which contained a Bye-bye, and moved on to the golden orb next to it.

Preparing to open the orb, Feng unsheathed the Abyssal Blade and activated Phantom Kill, his doppelganger appearing with a blank expression.

Under Feng's control, a green glow colored the doppelganger's emotionless eyes, and Feng immediately shared his senses with it.

Although a skill from one of his Bloodlines, just like Drago Buster, Precursor's Glimpse counted similarly to a learned skill that his doppelgangers that inherit skills could use as well, so the doppelgangers created by both Phantom Kill and Phantom Stride could use those two Bloodline skills.

When the doppelganger activates Precursor's Glimpse, Feng can share his senses so that he could see and hear everything the doppelganger sees and hears, including the future.

Upon looking through the doppelganger's visuals, he could see the usual two perspectives when Precursor's Glimpse is activated, one looking at his present self holding a sword and gazing down at the Jinxed Orbs and the other at his future self rapidly opening them.

"Legendary item Tiger's Brawl."

"Misfortune."

"Tier 6 Curse Open Pandora."

"Inferior Legendary Treasure Chest."

"Misfortune."

"Blessing that decreases the effects and duration of debuffs and negative statuses."

"Blessing that increases Intelligence temporarily."

"Misfortune."

"Misfortune."

"Misfortune."

"Fragmented Divine Artifact Ball of Epoch"

"Misfortune."

"Misfortune."

"Fulljoy."

"Alchemy Recipe for Great Grandmaster Jazz Hands Potion."

"Misfortune."

"Inferior Divine Artifact material Sandy Camel Toe."

"Blessing that permanently increases all Basic Attributes."

"Misfortune."

"Misfortune."

"Misfortune."

"Misfortune."

"Divine Treasure Chest."

"Secret-Silver Flying Ship Polarizing Pirate."

"Divine Artifact Consumable God's Sandwich."

Future Feng's hurried voice echoed across the starting island, being the only sound as he spoke out loud the contents of the Jinxed Orbs he was opening, telling the doppelganger, or more likely intended for a Feng using Precursor's Glimpse to watch this unfold, everything he received.

There was a slight pause as a dark-red gigantic skull appeared and swallowed the future Feng whole, disappearing a moment later and leaving him with 1% of his HP remaining, but the Feng just said misfortune and continued on.

He noted every fortune he received from the orbs, while simply declaring the bad ones he received as misfortunes since it didn't matter much, going through a few dozen Jinxed Orbs within a couple of seconds as future Feng moved and spoke as fast as he could.

Suddenly, though, the doppelganger's vision became blurry and static, like it was lagging, only to abruptly end a moment later. The doppelganger collapsed immediately after, and Feng couldn't get its body to move no matter how he controlled it.

"I guess it couldn't hold through the entire duration." Gazing down at the fallen doppelganger, Feng could tell the cause behind this development at a glance, and didn't pay it any more mind after deactivating Phantom Kill to make the clone disappear.

The reason why the doppelganger's Precursor's Glimpse ended early was not due to anything happening in the future to the Feng they were watching, but because the doppelganger itself was no longer able to keep the skill going.

Looking at the future was not something that could be casually done even if it's through a skill. Precursor's Glimpse requires the user to have a high Concentration standard, and it consumed a lot of Concentration per second to keep it activate.

Feng possessed the Savitarian Carnation Bloodline that had been further improved by Primal Infusion, which greatly increased his sense of time and compatibility with time-related abilities and with the element itself, while Precursor's Glimpse originates from the Peak Bloodline to begin with, so he had a much easier time using it under less demanding requirements.

Otherwise, there would be no way he could fully utilize such a complex skill that connects to the mechanics of the world at his current standard.

Even still, with Feng's Tier 4 Advanced Concentration, he could just barely manage to use Precursor's Glimpse, having originally nearly depleted his Concentration without noticing after trying it out for the first time to see whether the Epic Blazing Meteor would get immediately promoted to Fragmented Legendary rank with a Sacred Stone.

He had even more trouble this time around, pushing himself during the Swift Fortuitous Death challenge having taken a great toll on Feng, leaving him exhausted with most of his Concentration spent.

Only through the recent boosts to his Concentration that he had received, along with the recovery from the Life Essence and other Consumables that Feng had consumed after finishing the challenge, was he able to sustain the huge mental consumption from Precursor's Glimpse for most of its duration.

The doppelganger from Phantom Kill, however, had neither the Savitarian Carnation Bloodline nor Concentration standard to fully use Precursor's Glimpse.

Abyssal Blade was still just Tier 3 after all, and the only reason the Magic Weapon's doppelganger could even activate Precursor's Glimpse was due to it being Feng's doppelganger, inheriting much more strength and properties than it would under normal circumstances, allowing the doppelganger to keep Precursor's Glimpse on for a couple of seconds.

Although it didn't immediately grant him the result he had envisioned, Feng was still plenty satisfied with the doppelganger's assistance since that had been enough time for future Feng to go through nearly half of the remaining Jinxed Orbs.

Once Phantom Kill's five-minute cooldown ended, Feng could just summon a fresh doppelganger with its Concentration at full and have it do the same thing as the previous one, repeating the process until all of the Jinxed Orbs are uncovered and their contents identified.

While waiting for the skill to become available, Feng began sorting out the golden orbs, deciding which ones he was going to open and which ones were going in the vending machine using the information he had obtained from his future selves opening them.

The task was easy since Feng had memorized what was inside of each one, so he quickly gathered them up and separated the golden spheres, storing the Jinxed Orbs he wasn't planning on opening and beginning to unbox the rest.

Multiple blessings coursed through Feng, empowering him and granting great improvements in a wide variety and intensity of his aspects, while items giving off incredibly powerful auras littered the ground.

There would be occasional waves of increased pressure as more dazzling items were added to the mix, creating a sight that would make any player in God's Domain drool.

In the midst of opening the Jinxed Orbs, Feng suddenly noticed that Phantom Kill's cooldown was close to ending, so he went over to the first of the lined-up golden orbs that he hadn't seen unsealed yet, and summoned a brand new doppelganger.

This one lasted for long enough to allow future Feng to open most of the remaining Jinxed Orbs, leaving only eight to be unboxed when the doppelganger ran out of Concentration and Precursor's Glimpse got automatically canceled.

Unbothered by the few that were still left as unknowns, Feng continued opening his Jinxed Orbs, sorting out the new ones whose contents had been revealed by the third Precursor's Glimpse as well and unboxing them.

His strength improved even further from the blessings, Feng's Basic and Hidden Attributes having increased exponentially, with even his Life Rating having received a noticeable rise, along with multiple other things such as EXP gain, Damage, and Defense. Feng had somehow recovered from his Heavily Weakened state as well due to the many blessings.

Once he was done with opening all of the shiny orbs, Feng went on to pick up the things he had left lying around on the ground, the loot from his multiple dozens of fortune Jinxed Orbs forming a magnificent spectacle of colorful items, potions, parchments, chests, and all kinds of objects that radiated an immense amount of Mana and Divine Might.

Feng also took the time to properly appraise all the items and look through their information, curious about them since although he knew what each of the items was and their details to some extent from the list of fortunes created by the challengers as a collaborative effort, not all the players were willing to give away all of their rewards' secrets; only sharing some basic info about them.

As he inspected the gathered items of stupefying value, Feng grew quite surprised and elated by the amazing haul he had obtained. This ended up being far more profitable than he had imagined it would.

Some of the best rewards of the Swift Fortuitous Death Shrine were among these items, there being no shortage of useful treasures and even several Fragmented Divine Artifacts in the bunch.

Though, Feng's gains were not even close to over, since aside from the couple of unopened Jinxed Orbs and the ones carrying misfortunes which he plans on spending in the vending machine, there were still four more orbs that Feng hadn't opened yet despite knowing what they carried.

Two of them had within them the Yewel Gift blessing, which increased the tier of one of the opener's skills, whereas the other two contained Fulljoy, which would increase the rank of one of the opener's equipment by one and turn it into an item fully compatible with the current user.

Unlike the other pre-set stuff that Feng got from the Jinxed Orbs, all of them being completely decided beforehand without the player having the ability to affect the loot in the least, these two blessings randomly upgraded a skill and item.

Hence, if one's Luck was high enough, it would be possible to increase the chances of something good happening. Except not really, since it wasn't loot that Luck could boost or improve.

But Feng had Probability Manipulation, and with Icarus's Heart being a Fragmented Legendary item, he might be able to make it more likely for an option he wanted to get selected by the random upgrades. Of course, it had its limits, and Feng wasn't entirely sure how effective it will be.

Nevertheless, he intended to activate Divine Providence so as to increase his chances and give it a shot, hoping to get one of his desired options picked.

When it came to his skills, if Feng could pick, he'd like both Yewel Gifts to upgrade Drago Buster and turn it into a Tier 6 Draconic Spell. It would increase its power exponentially and make Drago Buster a skill at the very peak of Tier 6 power.

Even if Feng couldn't use it properly with his current low tier and overall standard, it would undoubtedly be extremely useful in the future.

Having a Tier 6 Draconic Spell was by far the most optimal result, especially since skills that don't have a tier like Precursor's Glimpse, Power of Darkness, or those from his Seducer Subclass could not be upgraded by Yewel Gift.

For his items, though, there wasn't much thought needed since there were only a few options. Fulljoy was only capable of upgrading weapons and pieces of equipment up to a maximum of Legendary rank, hence neither any of his Accessories nor the Blood Emperor's Armor could be improved by it.

Both of Feng's weapons weren't an option either due to the Abyssal Blade being a Magic Weapon, and the Pandemonium Lashblade originally being a Divine Artifact sword whose rank had been downgraded and had specific requirements for its power to be restored; which was also why Feng couldn't simply upgrade it with something like the Holy Grail instead of acquiring a Demon God's Heart.

Thus, only his seven remaining armor pieces could be selected by Fulljoy.

Usually, it wouldn't be a good thing for Feng, who was only Tier 1, if his equipment were to be upgraded to Legendary rank due to Legendary items usually having Tier Requirements, which would prevent Feng from keeping them equipped.

But there was no need to worry in this situation since Fulljoy, aside from upgrading an item's rank, would also make it compatible with the user almost as if it were custom-made specifically for them, meaning that even if his equipment reached Legendary rank, they wouldn't have such restrictions that hampered the user, and Feng would still be able to normally equip them as a Tier 1 player.

The only question now was which items Feng wanted to be upgraded.

Feng would rather not have any of the Mysticsteel Set's parts be the chosen items since it might mess up the Set's functions and make it impossible for other players except for Feng to use, while the individual items themselves weren't top-tier among their rank, so it wouldn't be a good outcome.

Of his other three pieces of equipment, the main one Feng wanted to get upgraded was the Space Helmet. Although it wasn't an item particularly suitable for combat while at Fragmented Legendary rank, its abilities were amazing nonetheless, and it would become even more incredible at Legendary rank.

Between the Shock-Inducing Fists and the Boots of Slaughter, either one would be fine, the Gauntlets being very powerful with the Internal Shock skill that would be useful against even Tier 6 opponents to a certain extent despite its current rank, whereas the blade boots themselves were of pretty high quality and also had an extraordinary skill like Phantom Stride.

Having either of the two upgraded to Legendary rank would provide Feng with an incredible boost to his combat power, so he'd been fine with whichever one got picked. Though, if Feng had to choose, the Shock-Inducing Fists would be his choice, as Feng planned to eventually replace the Boots of Slaughter once he becomes strong enough to equip the Limitless Boots.

Unfortunately, there was no way to take advantage of the system and get the equipment he wanted upgraded since Fulljoy would only function if all of the opener's equipment slots were filled up, so it was for the best to have all of one's main items equipped lest an undesirable one of low-quality gets the upgrade.

And because there was no way to take Jinxed Orbs outside of the Swift Fortuitous Death Shrine or cheese Fulljoy's effects, Feng had no other choice but to count on his luck and Probability Manipulation.

Just as he was about to sacrifice 500 points of Life Force and activate Divine Providence, Feng noticed that Phantom Kill had become usable once again. Pausing his opening and upgrading, Feng went over to the eight remaining Jinxed Orbs and placed himself at the starting point.

Summoning the doppelganger for a finishing go at the infamous orbs, Feng shared senses with it and activated Precursor's Glimpse, the vision of a future Feng opening the golden spheres and speaking out what he got from them appearing.

"Misfortune."

"Misfortune."

"Yewel Gift."

"Misfortune."

"Inferior Divine Artifact Consumable E.Mixer Fusion."

"SON OF A BITC-"

Upon opening the sixth Jinxed Orb, however, future Feng swore out loud, his words being cut off as a dark fog enveloped and consumed him.

Simultaneously, the second perspective that showed the future through the future doppelganger's eyes went dark, with Precursor's Glimpse deactivating following the development, leaving present Feng and the doppelganger standing around in silence.

"Two Bye-Byes, huh?" Feng felt even more like he had dodged a bullet, not expecting to be so unlucky as to pick up two account-deleting curses.

Sighing, Feng grabbed six of the eight Jinxed Orbs, storing the four that held misfortunes, opening one of them and placing the Inferior Divine Artifact Consumable from it in his bag, and bringing the last golden orb, which had a Yewel Gift in it, to the other four that he had left unopened.

Meanwhile, the two Jinxed Orbs his future self didn't get to open before being erased were set aside by Feng for later once Phantom Kill came off cooldown.

Now having five Jinxed Orbs containing incredible upgrades in front of him, with no more delay, a golden glow surrounded Feng's body.

Upon his Luck increasing from the fully powered Divine Providence, Feng opened all three Jinxed Orbs with Yewel Gift inside them, keeping his mind focused on upgrading Drago Buster in order to influence the random selection of skills through Probability Manipulation as much as possible.

His choice had still not changed, hoping to get two, or at very least one, of them on the Draconic Spell; keeping it as the main priority and not spearing any attention to his other skills.

System: You have triggered Yewel Gift, one of your skills will have its tier increased by one.

Three sparkly beams flew out of the golden orbs and entered inside of Feng, causing his body to be surrounded by a transparent glow for a moment, before it faded as abruptly as it had appeared.

Pulling up his System Panel, Feng scrolled through his skills, wishing to see what changes had been made to them, only to end up disappointed.

Drago Buster hadn't been upgraded a single time. Instead, the skills that did have their tier increased were Thunder Flame Explosion as it became a Tier 4 Peak skill, Emperor's Haki reaching Tier 5, and Instant Strike transforming into a Tier 3 Taboo Skill.

Class Restriction: Swordsman

Although they were still great additions to Feng's combat power, especially Thunder Flame Explosion since its power would reach the Tier 5 standard thanks to the Pandemonium Lashblade's effects, he was not very pleased by them.

If it wasn't Drago Buster, the two latter skills should have at least been ones like Thundering Flash, Moonchaser, or possibly Worldly Purification.

However, there was nothing Feng could do about it.

Complaining anymore would yield no result, and the upgrades could have been a lot worse like Chop, Parry, Windwalk, or Precision Throw being selected, so he just moved on to the other two Jinxed Orbs, which had Fulljoys.

This time focusing even more on his desired results, Feng opened both golden orbs.

System: You have triggered Fulljoy, one of your equipment will have its rank increased by one.

System: You have triggered Fulljoy, one of your equipment will have its rank increased by one.

A seven-colored ball of light emerged from each of the Jinxed Orbs and quickly floated towards Feng's armor, merging with two pieces of equipment.

The first light ball split into two seven-colored spheres of equal sizes when it reached Feng's chest, the two balls floating in opposite directions and making contact with the gauntlets on his hands.

Feng's Disguise Tool's effects over the Shock-Inducing Fists were removed under Fulljoy's power, the light grey Gauntlets' true form being revealed as they became covered in a rainbow glow.

Once the glow faded, they shined with a metallic luster, the light reflecting off their tungsten surface that was clear like a mirror. The Shock-Inducing Fists' aura also received an incredible transformation, the space around them quaking while people would feel shook just from the feeling they radiated.

Meanwhile, the other seven-colored orb floated all the way up to Feng's head, the Space Helmet becoming visible as well and forcing Feng to look through the dark glass surface that suddenly appeared.

Similarly, the Helmet momentarily shimmered in a multitude of colors, returning back to normal a few seconds later.

There didn't appear to be any change to the Space Helmet's look at first glance. However, heavy Divine Might now spread out from it and gave off a terrifying pressure.

Glad that his wishes came true this time for the equipment, Feng felt the increase in strength that he had received after the Shock-Inducing Fists and Space Helmet were upgraded to Legendary rank.

Changing their looks back to his usual armor, Feng pulled up their System Panels to see how much the items had improved.

A powerful artifact created by the Goddess of Space that was lost during the war between Primordial Gods, only to later on randomly fall out of empty space and be found by the War God's Temple. It has since been purchased and repaired by Adventurer Ye Feng.

Both items had received tremendous improvements after rising to Legendary rank, Feng's combat power increasing by a very significant amount in both attributes and his capabilities with each of the items' new skills as a result.

The Space Helmet's effects, in particular, made it much easier for Feng to exercise his full strength even in very dangerous environments, resulting in Feng no longer feeling pressured by the Legendary Shrine and the entire region of extreme mental suppression.

He was finally able to breathe freely again. If Feng were to challenge the God Mode World Summit Trial's First Phase or the Swift Fortuitous Death challenge again with his newfound power, the opponents would no longer put him in as much of a miserable state.

Additionally, the way gravity affected Feng had drastically changed, with his movements being completely without any form of gravitational pull, yet still moving normally without any trouble or discomfort as if he wasn't gliding across the ground.

While sensing the change, a thought came to Feng's mind, and he retrieved a pair of boots that resembled black holes from his bag.

As Feng had suspected, the immense gravity the Limitless Boots had on the surroundings now barely affected him with the Legendary Space Helmet, remaining unhampered even by the Fragmented Divine Artifact's powerful pressure.

The revelation made Feng wonder if he would be able to equip the Limitless Boots thanks to the upgrades, having previously inquired from Celestina about the Heavy Star Celestial Trial that one had to pass in order to use the Boots and learning that it was a feature of the Limitless Boots, which will trigger upon an individual attempting to equip them for the first time in order to see whether wearer was strong enough and worthy of wearing them.

Essentially, the person would have to endure an astronomic amount of gravitational pressure on their physical body, mind, and soul, which gradually increased in intensity and nature over time for a certain period.

If the person is still alive and able to put the Limitless Boots on after the Heavy Star Celestial Trial, they'd be able to freely use the Fragmented Divine Artifact and its abilities.

Feng hadn't entertained the idea before since the Demon Empress informed him that attempting it without at least being Tier 6 would be no different than suicide, and he definitely felt the gravitational pressure just from holding the pair of pitch-black boots.

But Feng felt that he might have a fine shot at it now.

Feng's current attributes weren't particularly lacking for the job, and although his Physique was only around the Tier 5 standard whereas his body was far too below the requirements since he possessed a Tier 1 structure and no Mana Body, the Legendary ranked Space Helmet could make up for those departments.

Even if it is not possible for a mere Legendary item to completely offset the effects of a Fragmented Divine Artifact that could control a Law, the help his Space Helmet could provide might just be enough for Feng to pass the trial.

However, there was no way to be sure without first seeing and experiencing the Heavy Star Celestial Trial, so Feng was hesitating whether or not to attempt it. After all, the possibility of dying in the process was quite high.

Suddenly, though, Feng realized that there was no need to hypothesize, wonder, guess, or risk the unknown trial.

He could literally see the future!

Just like for the Jinxed Orbs, Feng could simply use Phantom Kill and Precursor's Glimpse to at least witness the Heavy Star Celestial Trial firsthand and conclude whether he would be capable of making it through the endeavor.

In the middle of waiting for Phantom Kill's cooldown to end, Feng considered whether the short duration of how long his doppelganger could use Precursor's Glimpse would be sufficient this time, as only a couple of seconds probably isn't long enough to see the Heavy Star Celestial Trial in full and make a judgment.

Thus, Feng decided to increase that time and his chances of success.

Taking five God Crystals out of his bag, these being the last of the God Crystals Feng had previously cloned and brought along with him to the World Summit, Feng unsheathed the Level 30 Tier 3 Abyssal Blade from his waist and held it to the five crystals.

System: Five God Crystals detected. Conditions to evolve the Abyssal Blade met. Do you wish to evolve the Abyssal Blade?

Agreeing, the five God Crystals in front of Feng gradually disintegrated into five streams of light that lingered around the Abyssal Blade, then merged with the Magic Weapon.

When he was previously upgrading the Abyssal Blade's tier from Tier 0 to Tier 3 in one go, Feng had the option to continue with the Magic Weapon's evolution and push it to Tier 4 as well.

However, at the time, Feng wasn't sure if his strength would have been sufficient to take on the Tier 4 Black Dragon King in case the backlash triggered upon the Abyssal Blade's third upgrade. Magic Weapons were unpredictable like that, and Feng could not rely on his knowledge of the future too much when it came to taking unknown routes.

After all, in the previous timeline, he had only ever upgraded the Abyssal Blade to Tier 3 while it was still a Magic Weapon.

Only after obtaining another fragment of the original weapon that the Abyssal Blade was born from and recasting it, the sword turning into a Fragmented Legendary Weapon and losing some of its traits as a former Magic Weapon, did Feng continue its evolution later on, upgrading it to Tier 4 after some time and wielding it for a while before replacing the Abyssal Blade with Solomon's Sword once he collected all of the Legendary Weapon's parts and fused them.

It was only much later that Feng began using the Abyssal Blade once again upon upgrading it to Legendary rank and evolving it to Tier 6.

Moreover, Feng had faced the Abyssal Blade's backlash way before even upgrading it to Tier 3, so he was treading across uncharted territory when it came to the Magic Weapon right now.

Of course, that wouldn't stop Feng from upgrading the Abyssal Blade and bringing out its full potential as he worked on creating as powerful of a foundation as possible for the Magic Weapon before continuing to increase its Level.

Some caution was necessary though, and since a Tier 4 Black Dragon king would not have been something Feng could necessarily solo using nothing but his own power at the time, he had left it for later once his strength improved.

That later is now.

Having increased his strength by a very large amount since then as Feng had upgraded three of his pieces of equipment to Legendary rank and replaced one of his Ornaments with the Legendary ranked Heart of Ashes, along with other increases from other sources like the multiple blessings Feng had just received from the fortune Jinxed Orbs, Feng was much more confident in evolving the Abyssal Blade again.

Even if the backlash was triggered right now as he upgraded the Abyssal Blade to Tier 4 Feng believed that he could take on and defeat the Level 30 Tier 4 Black Dragon King.

Moments later, after the Abyssal Blade absorbed the five God Crystals, its Skills got upgraded to Tier 4, and its Basic Attributes underwent some changes.

The Famed Smith Olysses personally created the Abyssal Blade using the Black Dragon King's fangs as material. It is one of thirty-six Famed Swords, ranking 31st. However, the Black Dragon King himself has cursed this sword. Beyond the immense strength the blade offers, the wielder must face a Backlash after a certain amount of time. However, after Jack had remodeled the Abyssal Blade with a Star Crystal, the strength of the Backlash has been reduced greatly. If the wielder is unable to suppress the Backlash, the wielder will receive the Black Dragon King's curse, permanently reducing all Attributes by 60%.

Unable to be dropped.

Unable to be traded.

Unable to be destroyed.

Feng's Magic Weapon received quite a sizeable upgrade and grew significantly more powerful while also increasing his damage-dealing abilities by another level.

For a moment, Feng wondered how strong it would become once he upgraded it to Tier 5 and raised its Level, thinking about increasing its power soon.

At Tier 5, the Magic Weapon's backlash would be unrestricted, and Feng would have to face its full force. The Tier 5 Black Dragon King would not be much weaker than a Tier 6 God, so it would be a tough fight that Feng is not ready for just yet.

He'd certainly have a big advantage since it would only be the Black Dragon King's soul that he had to fight and not the actual monstrously powerful creature, which would give Feng an edge if he used his Soul Manipulation ability, but the fight's outcome would be uncertain.

It wouldn't be like when Celestina allowed him to enter her soul space and freely restrain her soul from the inside when Feng had attempted to equip the Pandemonium Lashblade for the first time, and he'd only be able to fully strike the Black Dragon King's Tier 5 soul head-on, which although would definitely be better than fighting a regular creature and trying to hit its soul, at Feng's current standard and level of using his ability, it wouldn't guarantee his victory.

Hence, he planned on first increasing his strength some more and upgrading the Heavenly Dragon's Breath to Legendary rank, since once the Ring was fully repaired, even the Tier 5 Black Dragon King would not be of any threat to Feng.

Though, currently, the improvement to the Abyssal Blade's skills is what Feng valued the most. Now Phantom Kill's doppelganger will be cloning Feng's Tier 4 Concentration as well, which should allow it to support Precursor's Glimpse's consumption considerably longer.

Activating Phantom Kill, Feng could definitely feel that the pressure given off by the doppelganger was much greater, and he immediately shared senses with it. In the next moment, the doppelganger's eyes started glowing green as it stared ahead at Feng with no expression.

Time went by, and after nearly ten seconds, the doppelganger collapsed. Even after becoming a Tier 4 skill and while duplicating Feng, Phantom Kill's doppelganger could not hold out through the entire duration of the future-seeing skill.

Nonetheless, Feng did not seem dissatisfied by the outcome, a grin appearing on his face after opening his eyes. Although the doppelganger's Precursor's Glimpse did not last for the whole duration of the Heavy Star Celestial Trial that future Feng was undertaking, Feng had seen the possibility and knew there was a good chance he could pass it.

Deciding to risk it regardless of the potential consequences, Feng selected the Limitless Boots and clicked to equip the Fragmented Divine Artifact.

System: Would you like to challenge the Heavy Star Celestial Trial and become the owner of the Limitless Boots?

"Yes!"
