Hawk Thompson frowned. "Is this really necessary?"
Sybil Cooper let out a cold laugh. "Mr. River ordered us to give them resources, so that's exactly what I'll do!"
"Once enough people die this time, they won't have the guts to join us again, even if we invite them!"
Understanding dawned on Hawk Thompson, but he pressed on. "Still... only the bottom-feeders will die. Not one aristocratic heir will perish. Does that make sense?"
"What doesn't make sense about it?" Sybil Cooper burst into laughter.
"The lower classes are weak from the start. The weak die. Should the strong ones die instead?"
Hawk Thompson finally got it, and he couldn't help but admire how devious the old man was.
With that, Hawk Thompson spun around and left.
He positioned himself before the crowd once again and spoke slowly. "This journey will be full of danger, and the Association will do everything possible to keep everyone safe."
