My loud shout grabbed everyone's attention.
Phoebe Billy spun around fast, his cold stare finding me in the crowd.
Recognition hit his face, bringing both frost and twisted amusement.
"Mason Raymond?" Billy looked me up and down, his smile thin. "What brings you here?"
"What I do ain't any of your damn business," I shot back without mercy.
Billy wasn't fazed. He chuckled. "Last time we met, you were just a master... hell, maybe even a grandmaster?"
"Now I'm your daddy," I mocked.
"Mason, I knew from day one you and Miss Sean would crash and burn. Looks like I called it right." Billy kept going.
"I'm screwing your mom, stay out of it," I snorted.
That finally broke Billy.
His face went dark, voice turning ice cold. "Mason, you used to show me respect, called me Mr. Billy—now that you've hit half-step Martial Marquis, you think you're hot shit?"
"How was I supposed to know you were scum back then?" I laughed.
