Chapter 1 - Broken Heart

Caleb Callahan closed the door of his locker with a loud thud, that echoed through the now empty school hallways. He pushed his forehead on the locker door and took a deep shaky breath. The rejection from his childhood bestfriend and crush, hit like a semi truck.

"Caleb." A sweet and cute voice called him from behind. His breath hitched as his heart healed a little. The voice of the girl he loved. He grew up with. The girl who broke his heart.

"Kaylee." Caleb turned to face her, with smile forming automatically. There stood Kaylee Reeves, with her sweet and innocent smile, like nothing ever happened. Caleb couldn't help but forget his pain as he was mesmerized by his bestfriend's beauty.

But his smile didn't remained forever. He noticed that Kaylee was clutching onto boy's arm. Caleb looked at the boy as his heart broke into million more pieces. It was none other the popular Jason Duke. He stood at 6'2 with his blond hair and playful but confident smile that would make any girl fall in love. And Kaylee was in love with him, as Caleb saw her tightly clutching his arm, making her breasts squeeze against him.

Caleb could feel a pang of jealousy and anger inside him, as a frown formed.

"Caleb, can you do us a favour?" Kaylee looked at him, smiling sweetly again. While Jason looked down at Caleb, smirking.

Caleb cleared his throat and spoke. "Yes what is it?" He tried his best to hide his anger and sadness, with his voice was shaky and cold.

Kaylee looked at with concern. She reached her hand out and gently grasped Caleb's arm. "Are you alright, Caleb?" She asked, worried. Caleb could feel shivers running down his spine at her touch and his heart beat increase . Before he could answer, Jason spoke.

"Of course, he's alright. Look at him, he's all cherry." Jason put his around Kaylee's waist and smirked at Caleb again, his expression mocking him.

Kaylee still looked at Caleb with worry. "Yeah, I am fine. So, what favour were you talking about, Kaylee?" Caleb asked Kaylee. He looked at her face, as the worry still lingered but a smile was quickly formed.

"Can you...um...lend us your umbrella? I forgot mine, and Jason didn't bring his. I will return it tomorrow. Pleaaase." Kaylee looked at him with puppy eyes. How could Caleb resist it!

"Of course he will give you his umbrella. After all, his your bestfriend." Jason said as he flashes Caleb a mocking smile.

Caleb could glare at Jason, as his blood boiled. He gave them his umbrella.

Kaylee took it and smiled at Caleb again.

"You go on ahead. I will catch with you later." Jason said as Kaylee turned to leave. He smacked her butt lightly and laughed. Kaylee immediately blushed and looked at Jason, suprised. Then looked at Caleb and gave him a nervous smile to hide her blush as she pushes a strand of hair back and tug it behind her ear. She quickly walked away.

"Cute, isn't she?." Jason said as he watched his girlfriend walk away.

Caleb wanted nothing but to tear Jason's face apart, flesh by flesh. He also felt somewhat heavy and warm in his heart.

Before Caleb could say anything, Jason shoved him against the lockers and pinned him there. Jason pressed his forearm against his chest as he raised him to his eye level. Jason spoke to in an intimidating voice. "Now you, listen here, you little shit. I know you have feelings for Kaylee, but throw them right out of the window, cause she's mine. And if I see you acting weird and flirty around her." He pressed his forearm heavily on Caleb's chest, cause him to wince a little ,"I will turn your life living hell, do you understand, shithead." Jason glared into his eyes and Caleb had no choice but to nod at Jason, fearfully.

Jason let off Caleb, as Caleb fell to on his rear and breathed heavily. Caleb a sting of pain on his head as Jason smacked and walked away laughing.

But Caleb felt more pain in his heart. He felt empty. How could Kaylee date a guy like him? How could his sweet and kind Kaylee date that asshole? Thoughts swarmed in his mind as he got up and collected his bag.

Feeling dejected, Caleb headed outside the main lobby of school. Out there, he stood, and looked at the rain pouring wondering how to get home or how to convince Kaylee to break up Jason.

"Need an umbrella?" Caleb looked up and saw Sally, his sworn academic enemy. He didn't remeber when this rivalry began, but Caleb knew one thing. To never let Sally surpass. "No thanks." Caleb replied with a frown. Sally had never been this generous. At least to him. Sally nevertheless pushed the umbrella into Caleb's arms. "Stop being so sour, wimp." Sally said as a black limo pulled up at the school gate. A chauffer exited with umbrella headed towards. Sally looked at Caleb and said, "No need to return it." With that, Sally headed away with Chauffer. Caleb mumbled, mocking her sass, with nevertheless, took the umbrella and went home. Caleb opened the door, still with broken, the pain of losing Kaylee wouldn't go away anytime soon. "I am home." Caleb called out at the empty house. His father, a journalist, must be still away at the press. Sighing to himself, Caleb climbed up the stairs and entered his room. The moment he stepped in his room, Caleb saw something coming at him. Before he could register anything, a sharp pain shot up his face, as something was swung at him. Caleb fell to ground, his sense dulling. Before the darkness took over him, all he saw were two figure, standing over him.

Caleb mumbled in confusion before passing out, his fate uncertain.
