The other thousands of people settled quite nicely. For the most part, they rented out beds in the dormitories, which was already far superior to what they expected, considering how cheap it cost them.
They never had such a sound sleep for a long time. Most of them woke up late in the morning before heading straight to work. After all, they needed to do so if they wanted to keep staying in the dormitories!!
The bright side of being a slave was that they were exempt from the visitor fees, but who wanted the title of 'slave'?
They also didn't know every citizen in Alterra. There could be an asshole waiting for his chance to order them around. Not to mention, those rules might not apply outside the town, especially when there were no witnesses!
So, as convenient as it was to not pay visitors fee, they'd still like their freedom thankyouverymuch.
