Chapter 32 - Outside World (Part Three)

It's been several months since the apocalypse hit the world generally, and as such, half of the human population has been mutated and turned into the mindless flesh-eating creatures known as zombies.

The remaining half has struggled against all odds to stay alive and has had to adapt to the world.

Without much thought, they began to cluster together to form small groups with those they trusted as leaders.

While the government and world power soon fell apart as they too got hit by the waves of zombies that flooded everywhere.

The military tried their best to hold off, keep at bay, and destroy as many zombies as they could but due to their inexperience, they were defeated.

It wasn't long before the people started to realize the essentials for survival and as such, did all they could to secure food and other daily necessities.

Those in groups had it easy as they could easily move out together and take whatever they wanted from who had or steal from the supermarkets and pharmacies.

While those in high places did theirs too, they used their power to secure enough, and even at that, they didn't stop there.

Some started paying smaller groups to do their dirty work and to keep themselves safe when they ran into dangerous situations.

However, only a few found it wise to not make enemies out of anyone, including the military. The Haiken region was one of them.

In a region in the Chinese country, there exist a large group of people who shared the same interest and gathered themselves together around a location to form a family.

One large enough to protect and look out for each other like a real family would.

Due to their connection and closeness to the military, they were able to get major information on the zombies.

Their last mission was to safely transport the blueprint of a prototype weapon, one they believed would be strong enough to defeat a stage four zombie.

And after a few weeks of preparation, they finally got the weapon ready and went on to test it out.

****

Along an empty street, a very large group of people walked through it. They all had different weapons ranging from sniper rifles to smgs and then to swords or metallic bats.

After walking for a while, they met up with another group and after exchanging a few words, their objective was confirmed.

"Any changes?" Sir Edwick asked the man he walked up to.

"None. The creature is just sitting there like a guard dog, waiting to charge at anyone who gets close to it. And when someone does, it will attack," the man replied.

He wore a camouflaged brown cap that matched his brown soldier trousers, while his black boot went along with his black tank top that he tucked neatly in.

He wasn't holding onto any weapon but he looked like a fighter.

"It attacks the slightest movement that comes near a certain range, however, it doesn't chase after anymore or anything,"

"That's 'cus it protecting something," sir Edwick mentioned.

"It is?" The man asked in surprise.

"Yes, get your team ready. We will strike in thirty minutes,"

"Strike what? That creature doesn't take damage at all!!"

"Its body is not rocked solid like that of a stage three zombie, it's just that there's no place to call it weakness,"

The man nodded his head slightly after hearing the explanation.

"But fear not, we have a plan," sir Edwick tapped him on his shoulder, trying to reassure him.

The team immediately got their weapons ready for battle and then they discussed their plan and strategies.

Shortly after, they walked toward the location of the creature they'd been speaking of.

On getting there, they came face to face with the huge zombie. It was so big it could easily remove a highrise building from the ground and swing it like a toy.

"Alright team, let me go over the plan once again," Edwick spoke confidently.

"We don't know its weakness, so we will be hitting it everywhere,"

"By the time we can spot its weakness, we will use this machine to strike it down," he said as he pointed to the huge machine behind them.

It was like a rail gun, expect, it sat on top of a very large vehicle with four legs that had wheels underneath them for mobility, and a very large scope placed almost behind the top of it.

"We agreed to divide everyone into five teams," the man continued. "The first team will be in charge of this weapon. They will guard and maintain it till the end, even against all odds,"

The next three teams will be in charge of attacking, defending, and distracting the zombie, while the last team will act as support to all the other teams,"

"So with this, y'all know where you lie. Carry out your task effectively," he warned. "A single slip up could cause the death of everyone here,"

"Dismissed," he voiced out again.

The crowd that surrounded the him immediately dispatched themselves and soon, they took their position.

The team Silver led, spread themselves through the rooftops of several buildings as they waited patiently.

They all had swords and other weapons with them as they took their positions.

The team Sabrina led had all gone to take their spots in various hidden positions where they knew they could easily attack from.

They climbed up to buildings that had widows and opened up spacing as a majority of them were snipers.

While the other team was led by Avion, a man in his late thirties whose body was completely fit and could withstand several strikes.

Shortly afterward, Edwick shot a smoke gun into the air as it signaled the start of the raid.

The teammates who had swords, bats, axe and large hammers all charged for the zombie, while the rest of them watched in anticipation.

As soon as they got into a certain range, the zombie flinched a little.

"It's about to start," Edwick whispered to himself.

Suddenly the ground started to rumble from around the zombie and spread out past the ground team making them stop in their tracks.

"W- what's going on?" One of the teammates asked.

"Why's the ground rumbling?" another asked.

"Just focus on the zombie, don't take your eyes off it for a second," Suzie said as she tried to redirect everyone's attention to the large mountain-like zombie.

After that, the zombie started to move its limbs and soon, stood up from the pile of rubbles.

"I- it's standing?" Rex asked as his head followed the size of the monster from building level to the sky.

"Just how high is it going to get?" Another asked.

Sabrina watched the monster from afar with a single thought in her mind. 'Will our attacks be able to reach it at that height?'

By the time the monster finally stood up straight, its head had already past the clouds and its body was so large that no amount of buildings could be merged to compare.

"A- attack!!" Avion commanded.

Immediately the teams heard the commander, they all charged at the monster from all angles.

Suzie dashed forward with her team comprising Rex, and three other people, and soon, with their weapons, they struck the monster's foot.

"It won't take the slightest of damage with weak attacks like that," Avion informed as he soon got closer. "Move out of the way, let me show you how it's done,"

Immediately, Suzie and her team leaped out of the way for him to strike.

With his huge axe dragging behind him, Avion suddenly leaped to the sky and struck what seemed to be the monster's knee.

In one blow, the monster's knee got a deep cut that almost completely severed its leg.

The monster's balance got altered due to the attack and as such, its huge size got shifted as it slowly fell to the ground.

"Back away this instant, if it falls, it's gonna crush us!!" Avion gave the order and immediately dashed off.

Thinking the monster would fall completely to the ground, the teammates immediately evacuated the area but the monster only fell on one of its knees and supported with one hand, while the other hand came crashing down from the sky like a meteor strike.

The monster struck the ground with great impact and sent out a very powerful shockwave that knocked the majority of the buildings around.

The force from the shockwave broke their base level easily as if it had no solid structure and shortly after that, they all came crashing down on each other.

"How can one attack deal that much damage?" Suzie questioned softly as her eyes observed the destructive power of the monster.

"That's the first attack!!" Someone signaled from the far back of their fighting arena and immediately, the entire team understood what it meant.

Due to previous attempts to bring down the monster, they had studied its attack pattern and range and thus were able to devise a plan to maneuver and counter each of its attacks.

They had roughly four major attacks to deal on the monster before it would respond and attack again.

"Charge!!" Avion commanded again and this time, he led the second wave of attacks.

Instead of leaping for the monster's torso or head region, he struck the knee again and this time, he added more power and force to make sure he broke it off. "Ahhhhh!!!"

His attack made direct contact but instead of severing the knee, it was reduced drastically.

"W- what?" Avion was gripped with shock that his attack barely did anything.

"Don't worry, I've got this!!" A man leaped off the back of a young lad and took to the sky as he swung his large hammers around.

He slammed it into Avion's axe that was still deep in the leg of the monster and with their combined force, the leg of the huge zombie was severed.
