Chapter 727 - Team Rocket

At that moment, Altaria's Fairy attack pierced through and shattered the psychic power-shield, slamming forcefully into Mewtwo's body. The impact sent Mewtwo flying backwards like a rocket, smashing through wall after wall until it broke through the entire castle, crashing down into the ocean below.

The power of a single attack was too strong for even Mewtwo to resist!

Witnessing this scene, Mew's eyes widened in surprise and curiosity. Fluttering around Terrance, it noticed for the very first time that there could be a Trainer this domineering.

"Rather than this, you should think about how to talk sense into Mewtwo. You don't want it to keep bothering you like this, do you?" Terrance said to Mew.

"In a situation like this, it's better not to keep playing around."

The moment Terrance finished speaking, an immense water pillar erupted from the ocean, piercing the sky. Mewtwo's psychic power split the entire sea into two halves, powerful waves of Confusion surging outward. At the same time, Mewtwo used Recover to heal its injuries, then surged forward at terrifying speed with its psychic energy, looking as if it hadn't suffered any harm at all from Altaria's terrifying attack!

"I knew it wouldn't be that easy to settle this."

Terrance's expression remained calm. This outcome was within his expectations. If Mewtwo could really be defeated so easily by him—a Trainer who had only just crossed the threshold of the top-tier—then Giovanni wouldn't be so concerned about it in the first place.

"Mewtwo, will you not hear me out?" Terrance called out again.

"Is my strength still not enough to earn your respect?"

"So what if it is!!"

With a furious roar, Mewtwo unleashed another massive Psycho Cut. This time, the attack's overwhelming power made Terrance's pupils constrict sharply, his eyes filled with disbelief as he stared at Mewtwo.

Not only had the power increased, but even in terms of precision and control, after just one round of battle with Altaria, Mewtwo's skills had already leapt to an entirely new level.

"What an abnormal rate of improvement…"

Cursing in his heart, Terrance glanced at the innocent-looking Mew beside him. Finally, he understood why Mew hadn't wanted to use moves in its intense battle with Mewtwo.

Mew must have realized Mewtwo's unique nature even earlier than he did.

Its reluctance to fight wasn't out of fear of Mewtwo's current strength. Though Mew was playful by nature and not specialized in combat, it was still a Legendary Pokémon that had lived for countless years. There was no way it couldn't handle a newborn Mewtwo. What it feared was Mewtwo's astonishing rate of learning and improvement!

As a being created through the repeated recombination of Mew's genes, Mewtwo had been born with immense destructive power. Despite having only recently been born, its extraordinary learning and improvement speed granted it limitless potential.

For now, Mewtwo hadn't yet battled the strongest of opponents, so its power wasn't at the peak of the world. But unlike other Legendary Pokémon, it possessed something they did not: still-unknown potential.

Even Mew, with its immeasurable age, feared that Mewtwo might grow uncontrollably strong through intense battle in a very short span of time. That alone was enough to show how terrifying Mewtwo's potential truly was.

"How fascinating… To already wield such immense power, yet still have infinite room to grow… Just what kind of existence did Team Rocket create by chance?"

As Altaria swept aside the Psycho Cut with a controlled Moonblast, Terrance spoke once more: "Mewtwo, hear me out. The reason I came here is only to ask you to help Ralts with its illness. It shares the same origin as you, you should be able to feel it."

"I'll be taking it away. I won't let it continue living with humans."

Once again, Mewtwo's body flared with a blue psychic power. Wielding Psycho Cut in hand, it charged toward Altaria. In response, Altaria rapidly gathered Fairy Aura, perfectly shaping its Fairy energy into an attack resembling Dragon Claw, and the two clashed in an intense battle.

Under the amplification of Fairy Aura, Mega Altaria's control over Fairy energy had likely already reached the very pinnacle of this world.

Aside from Fairy-type Legendary Pokémon who had lived for tens of thousands of years, there was probably no Pokémon more adept at wielding Fairy energy than Terrance's Altaria.

"Although I haven't known Ralts for long, I truly care for it. If it doesn't wish for it, I will never abandon it for any reason." Terrance replied firmly. At the same time, Gallade reached out its hand to gently pat Ralts on the head, then stood at Terrance's side, speaking with the same unwavering determination.

"You want to join the battle?"

Looking at Gallade as it pointed to its own evolutionary stone, Terrance showed a surprised expression, but quickly nodded in understanding.

"Mewtwo, stop this meaningless fight. Whether a clone or the original, both are living beings with their own thoughts, and not something whose existence can simply be denied."

"Also, the relationship between most humans and Pokémon is not as bad as you imagine. More often than not, humans and Pokémon are the closest of partners."

"Mewtwo, what is it that you truly want to change? The strength of Trainers and Pokémon comes from mutual trust and deep affection. What you've experienced is just one of the few dark aspects of this world. It should not be the reason you despise all humanity. And if you don't believe me, then I'll show you right here—"

Terrance pulled off his Key Stone, looking toward Mewtwo, who was locked in fierce battle with Altaria in the sky, and shouted: "The power born from the bond between me and Gallade. This is the strongest power that can only be drawn out when Trainer and Pokémon share true friendship! This is a power that is difficult for a Pokémon to harness alone. But if the bond between Trainer and Pokémon is strong enough, it can awaken the Pokémon's limitless potential!!"

At that moment, the Key Stone and Mega Stone shone with dazzling light, causing the Mew hovering around Terrance and Gallade to tilt its head and hum softly, appearing even more curious than before.

Even Mewtwo, caught in fierce combat with Altaria, could not help but be drawn to this surge of life energy once again. Just like Altaria earlier, now Gallade too was undergoing this transformation—two seemingly ordinary Pokémon had gained far greater power before its very eyes. According to Terrance's words, half of that was thanks to the Trainer.

"The power of bonds?"

"This power is difficult for a Pokémon to harness on its own?" Mewtwo murmured to itself.

"No, I can definitely master this power… and do it much better!!"

Mewtwo's eyes were filled with confidence, but the look it gave Terrance had already changed. Up until now, Terrance gave it a completely different feeling from any other human. Unlike the Team Rocket members who only sought to use it, Terrance carried none of that detestable aura it despised; on the contrary, he radiated an aura that felt close to nature. And unlike those shortsighted and weak humans, the power Terrance displayed together with his Pokémon was astonishing even to Mewtwo.

It could be said that Terrance's appearance had altered Mewtwo's impression of Trainers. It no longer felt that Trainers were weak, incompetent beings who only knew how to exploit Pokémon.

"Mew~ Mew~~"

Mew fluttered about, sensing the shift in Mewtwo's state of mind. It, too, no longer wished to keep fighting against Mewtwo, and simply gave in.

"You're saying that while there can be many Mews, there is only one Mewtwo…only me. I am the original, the one and only existence?"

Hearing Mew's words, Mewtwo froze in shock. It halted its attack, falling into deep contemplation.

"According to legends, Mew is the ancestor of all Pokémon. In the mythical age, there were many Mews scattered throughout the world. But from hundreds of millions to tens of thousands of years ago, as the earliest Ancient Pokémon began to appear, the number of Mews declined, while other Pokémon gradually increased." Terrance explained, recounting the professors' theories about Mew.

"In this world, most Pokémon are likely connected to Mew in some way, sharing the same genes. And it's very possible that even humans are a kind of Pokémon. So why cling to divisions of species, of originals and clones? We are all beings living on this same planet, wouldn't it be better to live together in peace?"

"Mewtwo, the world is vast, with countless kinds of humans and Pokémon. Humanity, interests, dreams; all of these are extremely complex. Why judge everything based only on your current notions? Why not see it for yourself? Use your own eyes to witness the world, then make a better choice."

"The darkness you've seen is only a small part, and that is exactly what should be changed."

Terrance took a deep breath. Mewtwo was gradually calming down and had already moved away from its previous mindset of resolving everything through battle. This was precisely the change Terrance most wanted to see. Mewtwo's experiences had been full of hardship. If Mewtwo could gain a clearer understanding of the world and no longer base all decisions solely on a small fragment of its life, then whatever path Mewtwo ultimately chose, Terrance would no longer feel such regret for it.

Team Rocket's intent to exploit it was the root of Mewtwo's descent into darkness.

"I…" Just as Mewtwo's expression began to soften, the thunderous roar of over a dozen helicopters suddenly filled the air, causing Terrance's pupils to shrink.

On the helicopters was a massive red "R" emblem, clearly marking their origin. With Terrance's interference, the storyline had changed.
