Chapter 683 - The Disaster of Acapulco

These Tentacool all lived in the waters near the port, but one day the sea they inhabited was forcefully occupied by humans, who built an oversea restaurant and, without restraint, drove away the Tentacool living in that area.

Facing human guns and Trainers' attacks, these Tentacool had no strength to resist; they could only look with eyes full of hatred at the humans who destroyed their habitat. Any that dared to resist were attacked by humans, suffering serious injuries or even death.

It was precisely for this reason that the Tentacool planned a frenzied counterattack on human cities. Since humans had taken their habitat, then they would destroy the humans' habitat as well—

"So that's how it is..." Misty's tears were already flowing; she had learned the general outline of what happened from a Horsea she had encountered.

Now Tentacruel itself roared and shouted in anger. Not only Misty, but even Terrance felt an inexplicable sorrow. This sorrow came from the Tentacool and Tentacruel.

Rumble—

Just then, countless helicopters flew over. Terrance furrowed his brow and checked the markings; it was probably the annoying media arriving.

"This matter is bound to have serious consequences..." Terrance felt a chill. No matter how powerful or how wealthy the people who destroyed the Tentacool's habitat are, for causing an incident of Pokémon attacking a town, they are bound to face condemnation from the public around the world.

"Tentacruel, I understand what you mean. I have had your experience fully recorded by the Rotom Pokédex; I will certainly truthfully disclose the whole course of this incident to the outside world."

"No matter who it is, I will never forgive such wanton destruction of nature and the breaking of the friendship between humans and Pokémon," Terrance said firmly.

If those who occupied the Tentacool's habitat were wealthy and powerful, and if the Tentacool had not made such a big commotion as to utterly destroy the entire port, then the chief culprit might have been able to go unpunished.

But once the Giant Tentacruel began to lead its tribe in counterattacking humans, this matter could no longer be concealed. The stakes were too great; not waiting until tomorrow…perhaps today, every region in the world would turn their eyes to Acapulco.

The relationship between humans, Pokémon, and nature has always been a hotly discussed and closely watched topic worldwide.

"Roar!!!"

"In that case, I'll trust you this one time!" the Rotom Pokédex said.

"Thank you, Tentacruel. Go to the deep sea. With your current strength you can shelter your people; don't wander around human cities anymore."

Terrance looked at it with a complicated expression.

Although he didn't know what mutation had occurred to the Tentacruel, Terrance knew never to underestimate human malice... Even though publicly the world would surely, under pressure of public opinion, condemn the culprits, there would certainly be illegal organizations that would want to capture this Tentacruel, which can cause tremendous destruction, for research.

One by one the Tentacool walked out from the port town and slowly entered the sea. The Tentacool trapped in the ice on the surface, with Castform having summoned Sunny Day, also slowly broke free and dove into the water. At the same time, the Giant Tentacruel looked once more at the human town, at Terrance, and at the Castform that had drawn on nature's power, then slowly swam off toward the distant deep sea.

Thus, this disaster came to an end...

Ash and his group gathered around Terrance, looking at the ruined town in silence.

"Rotom Pokédex, translate what Tentacruel said and organize it, and back up the video we just recorded," Terrance said after a moment.

"Received, Roto!!"

"Terrance, what should we do about this?" Ash asked angrily. To him, seizing Pokémon habitats to satisfy one's own interests was simply too outrageous and despicable.

"You don't need to worry about this. I won't interfere too much; all the evidence is here. From now on, leave it to the police, the League, and public opinion to handle." Terrance said after a moment's thought.

This matter really wasn't something Ash and the others could get involved in.

"Ash, let's do as Terrance said." Brock put his hand on Ash's shoulder and said.

At that moment the helicopters were slowly landing; not only reporters, but rescue teams were also arriving at the port. However, since Terrance had already handled most of it, what remained for them to do was just the finishing work.

"The losses for humans this time… are at least in the hundreds of millions, right?" Looking at the devastated port town and the fallen skyscrapers, Terrance shook his head. This was truly reaping what one had sown, and it was the innocent people who were pitiable.

"Did you drive off the Tentacruel?!" The swarming media team, unable to approach Terrance and others, were held back by the police, and at that moment an Officer Jenny hurried over to them.

Terrance looked at her and took out his identification.

"I'm the Gym Leader of Fallarbor Gym in the Hoenn region. I already understand the whole course of events; from now on let me cooperate with your work."

Officer Jenny took the ID, was momentarily taken aback, saluted Terrance, and said, "Thank you for your assistance and cooperation, Mr. Terrance."

Terrance turned to Ash and the others and said, "Don't worry."

Ash, Misty, and Brock looked at Terrance and all nodded together.

At the same time, it was the first time Ash and Misty had heard of Terrance's identity as a Gym Leader, which made them both stunned again.

But at this point they couldn't talking with Terrance; he had to go with Officer Jenny to deal with the incident.

The harmful impact of this event could not be concealed. The words of the Tentacruel recorded in Terrance's Rotom Pokédex and the recorded videos were the main evidence. After parting from Ash and the others, Terrance began a full analysis of the incident together with the police.

Although not under the Indigo League, as a public official within the Pokémon League system, Terrance's status as a Gym Leader gave him ample authority.

Moreover, Terrance was not an ordinary Gym Leader; he also had close ties with many organizations such as the Contest Committee, the International Police, and the Breeder Association. His status was extraordinary, so in negotiations with the police Terrance took the leading role.

After submitting the videos and translations and explaining the full circumstances to the police, and receiving their assurances, Terrance didn't want to pay much more attention to the matter.

Getting involved in such a complicated affair wasn't Terrance's intention. He had only wanted to calmly attend the parent-teacher meeting.

A day later, Terrance arrived in Cerulean City.

By then, the news of the Acapulco disaster had been fully reported.

The media reported first; there had been quite a few people on site who had a vague understanding of the truth. Besides, even without full knowledge, it wasn't hard to investigate the cause of such a rare event as Pokémon attacking a town.

And not long after the media published online about the incident, the League also got involved and announced severe punishment against those who had illegally occupied the sea area.
