Bang…
Immersed in the combined assault of lightning and flame, the crowd was so caught up in the violence and brilliance of the attacks that they almost forgot about the passage of time.
When Arcanine's body fell to the ground, the first reaction of the spectators wasn't to check on Arcanine's condition, but to see whether Galvantula was still conscious.
"Gulp." Someone said with lingering fear, "If it were me, I definitely couldn't just stand by and watch my Pokémon get attacked that many times. Elite Four Leo… why didn't he recall Galvantula?"
"He can't even see Arcanine's figure clearly, and you think he could recall Galvantula?" The person next to him scoffed and said, "And you're underestimating Elite Four Leo. No matter what, he was one of the Elite Four. Haven't you watched the Elite Four Challenge Competition? Do you think any of the Elite Four's Pokémon go down after one or two hits? Their willpower and defense have been trained to an absolutely terrifying level."
"Terrance and Leo… are both gambling. Betting on who will fall first."
Arcanine's fall signified it had completely exhausted its strength. Now, if Galvantula could still stand up after that rainstorm-like barrage, then…
But such a situation didn't come to pass.
"Galvantula and Arcanine have both lost the ability to battle," Vivian said in an odd tone.
Leo glanced at the unconscious Galvantula and slowly took out a Poké Ball to recall it.
"You've done very well. Now, leave the rest to Electivire and the others."
Turning his gaze back to Terrance, Leo didn't speak but quietly waited for Terrance to send out his next Pokémon.
Terrance, who had also recalled Arcanine, had already proven himself with his strength; he had the skills to stand toe-to-toe against an Elite Four.
"That Leo... didn't have as strong a desire to win as Terrance did at the beginning." Steven observed the entire battle situation and shook his head slightly. Terrance's Arcanine's explosive power not only shocked the audience but also startled him, the Champion, with its intense desire to win.
And now?
He looked toward Leo on the stage with great interest. At this point, Leo probably has no choice but to treat Terrance as an equal opponent.
"Fallarbor Gym's Gym Leader Terrance?!"
Originally paying attention to the festival because of Albus, the League's higher-ups all wore surprised expressions upon seeing Terrance's performance in the first battle.
Regardless of how he won, the fact remained: on an official stage, he had actually defeated a main Pokémon of an Elite Four-level Trainer!
"This young man…" Glacia fell silent. Suggesting Terrance battle Leo had just been a casual remark from her, but now, faced with this scene…
"They each still have two Pokémon left."
As the Pokémon Ball icons on the large screen dimmed simultaneously, with both sides left with two remaining Poké Balls each, everyone dismissed their initial predictions about the outcome. This battle might not be as straightforward as they had imagined.
"Magnezone."
"Mismagius, be careful of your opponent."
Following Galvantula, Leo sent out Magnezone, the winner of the Steel-Type event. Magnezone is the evolved form of Magneton, with an oval-shaped body resembling a UFO. Both Mismagius and Magnezone floated in the air. After the previous battle, both Pokémon had raised their alertness to the maximum.
Although Terrance succeeded in dragging down one of Leo's Pokémon in the first battle, that didn't mean much. It was just one battle. With two more to go, the overall direction of this 3-vs-3 battle was what people were truly focused on.
Mismagius had demonstrated extremely powerful strength during the Ghost-Type event, something well-known to all. Leo was also fully aware of Mismagius's strength. However, in terms of raw power, Mismagius was still a tier below Magnezone. What Leo was worried about was whether Mismagius, like Arcanine, would suddenly unleash some hidden strength.
Mismagius's illusion skills not only allowed it to pull opponents into an Illusionary Space, but also cause interference externally.
As the battle began, Mismagius quickly pulled back, summoning two orbs of Mystical Fire beside it. Then, in full view of the audience, the number of Mystical Fire orbs doubled from one to two, then kept doubling, before eventually over a dozen fireballs floated above the battlefield.
Mystical Fire burned intensely, with an extremely high temperature. Now that Mismagius's power had vastly increased, the flames were endowed with astonishing destructive power.
Mismagius controlled the Mystical Fire, sending waves of scorching aura. The flames assembled into a large human-shaped character. Under Mismagius's control, Mystical Fire instantly transformed into the move Fire Blast.
The Fire Blast's size was astonishing, like it could swallow Magnezone whole. Faced with such an astonishing move, many spectators' eyes widened in shock.
"It's useless," Leo said.
In response to the astonishing Mystical Fire, Magnezone, under Leo's command, began generating layers of transparent walls in the air, placing them in front of itself.
Although each wall was much smaller than the "Fire Blast", the flashing lights on the walls began to combine. Under Magnezone's control, Light Screens were stacked together and pushed forward like a barrier, heading toward a specific point within the Fire Blast-shaped Mystical Fire.
Boom!
Upon colliding with the stacked Light Screen, the Mystical Fire was instantly neutralized. Terrance's expression changed. The Fire Blast was countered just like that?
"So it was an illusion after all," Leo said as he confirmed it, watching the remaining Mystical Fire vanish.
"Using Light Screen to directly distinguish illusion from reality?" Terrance hadn't expected illusions could be countered in this way.
Mismagius had used Confuse Ray to distort the lighting on the battlefield and created the illusion. But under Magnezone's control, the illusion created by distorted light was immediately seen through by the reflective ability of Light Screen.
Terrance took a deep breath; he had just learned something…..so Light Screen could be used this way too.
Now, unless Mismagius could outmatch Magnezone in terms of light manipulation, ordinary illusions would be useless against it. But seeing Leo's composed expression, Terrance realized that he had gotten serious. That previous battle with Arcanine must have really upset him.
"Light Screen isn't the only way. I have four different methods to break Mismagius's illusions," Leo said, as if reading Terrance's mind.
"Oh yeah… now that's interesting," Terrance grinned and said, "Mismagius, use Lucky Chant on yourself."
"Then, use your illusion skill Hypnosis on the opponent."
At Terrance's command, the three red gems on Mismagius's body instantly began to glow. Strange light radiated from its eyes, and waves of incantations merged into the void, rushing toward Magnezone rapidly.
"Generate signals to neutralize the opponent's illusion skill," Leo ordered at the same time.
