Chapter 40 — The Lucky Rat
"Treasure? What treasure?"
Kronics played dumb, turning toward Krad with an innocent expression that fooled absolutely no one.
"Krad, did you have any treasure on you?"
"Ehh... treasure?"
Krad scratched his head, pretending to think.
"Oh, I just remembered one being in Eldest Brother's True World. I was actually about to ask about it."
The corners of several gods' mouths twitched.
They were all having the same thought.
Just rush up and beat these two idiots.
Unfortunately, nobody was willing to be the first.
Eldrak Ominison's cold gaze immediately settled on Krad.
"Where did you hear that from?"
Krad's body stiffened.
A shiver ran down his spine.
But instead of showing fear, he grinned inwardly.
"Eldest Brother, I just remembered having tea with Morphuis..."
He deliberately stopped.
His eyes shifted toward Morphuis.
Morphuis immediately broke into a cold sweat.
He slowly turned his head toward Eldrak.
Eldrak was staring directly at him.
"Morphuis."
"I don't remember showing you anything, right?"
Morphuis' smile became painfully stiff.
"So it's true."
Eldrak's eyes narrowed.
"I thought Ramses was hiding the beans."
"What?!"
Ramses looked completely perplexed.
His expression went from confusion...
to fear...
then finally to rage.
"LIAR!"
BOOM!
Ramses vanished.
He reappeared in front of Morphuis, his fist already swinging toward his face.
"You bastard!"
WHOOSH!
Morphuis disappeared in a puff of smoke.
His body reappeared beside Krad.
He immediately grabbed Krad by the shoulder.
"Krad, can you at least stop getting me into trouble?"
His eyes then shifted toward Kronics.
"And you two! Why are you trying to get Ramses and Eldrak to fight?"
Kronics merely snorted.
'Tsk~~~ Don't play dumb over here.'
Krad's expression remained perfectly calm.
'Hmpf~~~ Do you think I don't know the main villains here are Eldrak and Ramses?'
Kronics, Krad, and Morphuis continued their conversation telepathically while keeping their faces completely innocent.
Meanwhile, Ramses was still glaring at Morphuis.
Frega suddenly joined the telepathic conversation.
'So, Morphuis, you guys wanna do this or that?'
Her physical body remained completely still as she deliberately turned a blind eye to the commotion.
Morphuis sighed.
'Sister, you know this wasn't my intention. These two are always causing trouble.'
Frega immediately responded.
'Trouble? You say Ramses and Eldrak caused Krad to peek into my True World. So who exactly caused the trouble here?'
Morphuis became silent.
'Yeah. I even specifically refused, but nope. Venux and Eldrak pushed me forward.'
Venux immediately raised his hands.
"Hey, you two! It was Eldrak's idea. I know nothing."
He looked completely innocent.
Almost too innocent.
Eldrak, who had been moved closer to Ramses, suddenly narrowed his eyes.
"Wait a minute."
Everyone froze.
"Are all of you communicating telepathically without us?"
The entire atmosphere went silent.
Eldrak slowly turned toward Nicholas.
Nicholas immediately transformed into a blinding white light.
"Brother, can you stop staring at me like I'm some sort of prey?"
His voice sounded brave.
Internally, however, Nicholas was sweating.
So was everyone else.
The realization hit Eldrak.
They had all been talking behind his back.
And Ramses.
The two of them had been completely excluded.
"Really?"
Eldrak's smile became frightening.
"So what exactly were you guys talking about just now?"
His hand suddenly grabbed Ramses by the throat.
Ramses' eyes widened.
"Wait—"
Kronics snorted.
"Really now? I need to inform every guy out there about my every action?"
He glanced toward Krad.
"Even if I'm going to shit in some monster's head?"
Krad nodded thoughtfully.
"Well, I know that. But we need to inform them just to keep ourselves safe."
He paused.
"Imagine doing something private with your wife and some old dude suddenly appears beside you."
The goddesses immediately blushed.
Several wives of the rulers lowered their heads.
Morphuis covered his face.
Kronics stared at Krad.
"You really had to say that?"
Krad shrugged.
"Now that I think about it, that's disgusting."
He paused.
"Should I try an orgy—"
He suddenly noticed Eldrak staring at him.
"Err... Eldest Brother, why that face? Are you hurt somewhere?"
He quickly changed his tone.
"I too will inform you about every action of mine."
The telepathic channel immediately exploded.
'Kronics, can't you see he's about to explode?'
'Morphuis, are you dumb? Pretty sure you're all sneering because he's angry.'
'Well...'
'Yeah, can't comment.'
'Same here.'
'Really, Nicholas? You're sweating over there but still have time to chat?'
'Flix, can you stop playing the fool? At least I'm not the one exploding in rage.'
'Well, I'm not the one receiving the beatings, right?'
'Tsk. Lousy as ever. Do you want to be beaten up?'
'So are you going to save Ramses or not? He's literally being choked right now.'
'Ayish, Venux, why don't you try it? Cleo is turning a blind eye and you want me to go there?'
Morphuis internally complained.
'Hmmm... are you guys egging me on to talk to Eldrak?'
Another voice responded.
'Why would we? Even I can beat Eldrak up. I just don't want to start a commotion and attract some hurtful lady begging for a hug.'
Kronics suddenly joined.
'Kronics, you're quite bold. But was that beam really an ancient treasure?'
Cleo finally asked.
Krad immediately looked annoyed.
'Cleo, why are you asking Kronics that?'
'Mmm... now I'm eager to know what that beam was.'
Suddenly—
"SO YOU GUYS ARE STILL COMMUNICATING TELEPATHICALLY?!"
Eldrak's roar shook the void.
Everyone went silent.
Cleo appeared directly in front of Eldrak.
"Mmmn... Eldrak, why are you barking like a dog?"
Another figure appeared beside him.
"Yeah, brother. Can you just let Ramses go?"
Ramses immediately hid behind him.
Eldrak's eye twitched.
"This..."
His aura surged.
"Luke. Cleo. Do you two want to fight me?"
"Shesh."
Cleo rubbed his ear.
"Was that sound loud?"
"Yeah," Luke replied. "I almost went deaf."
Krad, who had already moved several meters away, suddenly spoke.
"If I were under the weather like that, I'd probably release it on my wife."
He paused.
"Shit, I don't have one, right?"
Silence.
"Ah... I do."
Morphuis' face twitched several times.
He desperately tried not to laugh.
Cleo was frustrated as well.
He couldn't even laugh while standing directly in front of Eldrak.
The telepathic conversation resumed.
'Kronics, Krad, fuck both of you. Do you want me to die?'
The rulers were doing everything possible to avoid Eldrak's gaze.
But Kronics and Krad were different.
They could teleport much farther than the others.
That gave the two idiots an unreasonable amount of confidence.
"Kronics..."
Eldrak's voice became dangerously calm.
"Krad..."
He clenched his fists.
"I'm going to—"
SWISH!
SHRIMM!
A sharp cutting sound suddenly echoed through the void.
Everyone turned toward Kronics.
Even Kronics froze.
A single strand of his hair floated gently through the darkness.
His eyes widened.
He slowly touched the side of his head.
"Who..."
His expression twisted.
"FUCKING BRAT!"
His roar echoed across the void.
"I'm going to beat the hell out of you!"
Everyone burst into laughter.
"Hehehe!"
Kronics' face darkened.
Then a sweet voice came from behind him.
"Erm, hubby..."
Kronics froze.
He slowly turned.
Eres, the Pure Neidan and one of Kronics' three wives, stood there with a smile.
"Who exactly are you calling a fucking brat?"
Kronics' expression changed instantly.
"Fucking brat?"
He laughed awkwardly.
"You're kidding, dear. I said lucky rat."
Eres smiled.
"Did you?"
"Of course!"
Kronics immediately teleported beside Eldrak.
Eldrak, who had still been raging, took one look at Kronics and immediately retreated several kilometers.
Ramses, Cleo, and Luke followed him.
'To hell with staying near you.'
'You have a Pure Neidan as a wife?'
'Pure Neidan? Can you be any crazier?'
Kronics ignored them.
Eres simply smiled.
"Mmm... a rat."
She looked toward the floating strand of hair.
"Interesting."
Her eyes narrowed playfully.
"How can a rat be lucky?"
Kronics' expression changed.
"Ahhh... this—"
He suddenly realized something.
"Wait, wait!"
WHOOSH!
