Fisher didn't turn back as he responded, prompting a snort from Heidlin as she closed the room door and left.
In the quiet room, Emhardt popped out again, clicking his tongue in amazement as he reflected on Fisher's earlier maneuver,
"You really are... tsk tsk, coming over late at night not to retreat but to advance, your words lacking obvious comfort yet comforting everywhere, and you even nonchalantly gave her the Grey Bird Species Mark as part of the deal... But weren't you trying to charm her? Why then talk about your... um, strange predilection for demi-human females in front of her?"
Fisher grabbed Emhardt abruptly and forced him back into his pocket, not wanting to explain at all, simply saying,
"Because I have no such intentions toward her."
"Sure, sure, you say that about everyone, you never spill until the very end... I get you."
"Shut up."
