There were those who were too proud to beg or ask for help, while there were others who did not know how to ask for help during such difficult times in their life, whether it was the result of their shyness and anxieties or their lack of ability to approach strangers.
Not everyone was able to sit in front of everyone who passed by and have enough confidence to be able to pluck up the courage to ask for help, even if it was a small donation of some spare change.
Some would much rather work for what little they could gain to survive, so there were some people who would much rather perform on the streets using what skills they had, like singing or playing an instrument, if it could let them keep their pride a little.
There were others who feared the stares that others would send their way, whether it was pity, disgust or something else.
